This is what you call a summary execution. Jerome thought he was judge, jury and executioner. No reason for him to shot him FIVE more times. He was unarmed so Jerome didn't see a gun. If he was going to shoot someone, I don't understand why he didn't just shoot the guy that was armed. I could see the argument that he didn't know and assumed they both were armed and just shot at one of them in the heat of the moment, sure. @ultradumbass i also don't believe in life sentences for a few reasons, not everyone lives to the same age and not everyone commits a crime at the same age, which means one person in all spends more time in prison than another. though i believe in determinate amounts of years which can range from a term of 5 years to as much as 60 years depending on the severity of the crime, and all sentences are at first without parole for only after a few years can a court allow parole.

@raw5069 Cant really add much. You pretty much said it. I would like to also point out that adrenaline played part. Fight or flight. This guy fought- and he and those with him are alive as a result. Had this been a post 9/11 highjacking do you think a jury would find against any "overkill" on any would be highjackers ? And even if the shots weren't for mercy, if he was shot in the head, then he was a dead man and the 5 shots afterwards did not matter at all. And also, if you are a part of an armed robbery, then you are considered armed.

Have the right to defend, by shooting 5 times? You're supposed to deter them, not kill them. If that owner was Black or Mexican, this would have been a totally different story.
