Unfortunately, many comments reflect the lack of understanding about the meaning of "sacred prostitute". As the narration says, "A chosen few, detected the wisdom and power behind her seductive movements. They perceived the light, the beautiful light within her reflected in themselves." Key is the light must first be in the beholder to see it in the dancer.
Develop the light within you. Be grateful. Experience joy. Amen.
It's a cultural thing people! Just because we don't understand it doesn't make her a prostitute. I don't see her dancing with anyone!!! Go to an club in America and you will see the "Dance of the Sacred Prostitute"...I would rather see this than two people dry f****** on a dance floor! It mindsets like this, that make people dislike Americans. If you go to another country and have to tell them you're Canadian to get by, there is a problem there!
I guess I'm the only one that can expand their mind and see the "other" side of this - how the definition of "Prostitute" now - and the definition of "Prostitute" then are two differing areas of notion. I guess I'm the only one that sees the "art" of it. Even in...this....

If you want women to like this kind of thing, you have to see it from their point of view. The video should have focused more on some great dancing; the narration should have set the historical background and expressed some of the woman's experience, not just that of the men watching her (bouncing breasts, etc.) Really good belly dancing DOES express the unity of sensual and spiritual, without even having to say it.
Sorry I was in a bad mood last night. First, people have the right to express their creativity in any style of dance. The sacred prostitute who was a priestess devoted to a deity existed in ancient Sumeria, Babylon & India. If a bellydancer portrays one of these ancient women, this is no insult to Arabs or their culture. An artist has to chose some current style of dance to express the right feeling. Bellydancing is feminine, passionate. I don't think Irish step dancing would work.
Ick. This was so disappointing. This video does not express "female energy where spirituality and sensuality become one". It fails completely in its aim, if that was its aim. It is way too un-subltle. And there is no passion in it - only blah blah blah.
Amira Mor is terrible and very slutty. She puts it out there. The video is very bad, bad for real artists of the Middle East and bad for Arab culture in general. Not only is it "corny" it is plain nasty. Brian al-rafic

The narration written & spoken by Armond Joy Blackwater goes as follows:
Some said that it was the bounce of her bosom
Others, sited her full, flowing mane of lusterous black hair.
Still others, claimed that wings gave her feet flight as she danced the sacred dance.
A chosen few, detected the wisdom and power behind her seductive movements.
They perceived the light, the beautiful light within her reflected in themselves

What a horrid image to give an otherwise respectable dance. Shame on you.
