@shelbyfanss Hello, at the time I found the piece, roughly 2 years ago, the nugget was worth about 20-30 dollars. It's now probably worth about $50+ due to the increasing gold prices.
@pvampire I believe since the clay was very hot I was using the Enhance timing. Most of the time if the ground conditions are pretty mild I'm using Special/Sensitive/Extra.
@Rocksolidvb Just about all countries have some gold. The US was just as rich, if not richer than the countries you mentioned. Keep in mind, the US has had 3-4 major gold rushes and hundreds of thousands looking for it in the last 200 years. Take care, Rob's Detector Sales 623-362-1459
Ive met several miners hunting in the AK bush that sell all the nuggets they find to jewelers, one couple I met sell there whole summers worth to some germans every fall, make much more than cashing it in.
Hey Guys, Thanks for all the comments. The nugget was probably valued at around $20 - 30 US dollars. Nothing huge, but they add up quickly when you're finding them. Keep in mind, there are a lot more smaller gold nuggets than larger, so having a good metal detector such as a Minelab PI will help you find not only the big ones deeper, but the smaller ones which are like the "beans and bacon" of metal detecting.
Now whats a nugget that size worth?
