  • great review man

  • How is this game for learning the guitar?

  • @ryanxx123 You play songs on the game, it teachers you. Imagine guitar hero or rockband only the guitar have actual chords.

  • any updates to your initial review? how is the long-term satisfaction in this game, still playing, getting better at the guitar aside from the game?

  • $500 guitars are cheap....

  • Looks good to me. Nice review. <3

  • im amazing at guitar hero but i have been playing guitar for a good four years but i want to teach my sibling in a fun way and this review speaks out thx man

  • Great review man. I started playing bass. and picked this up to get a lil more precise on my picking...I can say it has helped alot.

  • can u buy new songs like rb and gh?

  • would this game work with an acoustic electric guitar?

  • @Ac3x0fxsp4d3z sure does my friend, I've got a Jasmine by Takamine. Plug that sucker right up, pump it up all the way to "10" and it works great.

  • I've thought about purchasing this game so that my Dad and I can play and your review was really helpful. Thanks for the very good review, and Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays! lol

  • You should do more reviews

  • Very good review

  • Top notch review. \m/

  • Great review!!!!

  • lol i am great at guitar hero, suck at rocksmith. but can play a real gutiar pretty well lol y is this

  • Are songs always in standard tuning or do you get to play around with different tunings?

  • @ironmunky22 before every song you retune. Ive play a lil on the game and only had to drop it down to D once..the game is boring if you know how to play guitar...songs blow..just not my cup of tea..would rather jam out with a couple friends yo..

  • The lag is your equipment. Somewhere in the settings of the game you can calibrate it.

  • I actually play guitar with a tutor and I am thinking I want to learn more with this game so thanks for making me confident.

  • The delay that everyone talks about hasn't bothered me so far. It's just a slight delay. It must be more experienced guitar players that are bothered by it. I'm a total beginner.

  • Also, being that I've come from Rock Band, I have a question. I can play a song on Rock Band a hundred time, but if I try to play it on the guitar without having the system there, I don't remember it at all. Does Rocksmith do something different where it really trains you to play the song even when you're not playing the game?

  • Can you tune your guitar with the game?

  • @AgentKuo Yes. It makes tuning really easy. It more or less forces you to tune your guitar before each song, which can be just a bit annoying. The game needs your guitar to be in tune in order to understand whether or not you are playing the correct notes.

  • @PandawdyBob

Cool. Sounds good. Now I just gotta go get a new electric guitar.

  • Okay, I'm really good at Rock Band. But you can't compare Rocksmith to Rock Band just because they're both guitar games. They're completely different and it's not like we don't understand that.

  • lol you can't criticize the lag. the lag is your tv's fault silly. thats what happened when tvs got more advanced they left out making good tvs for videogames. if you play any of your other games wether they be shooter or racer or fighter, go to the main menu and navigate the menu. click up or down and watch closely on how long it takes from you pressing the button to when the game does the command. you will notice it lags. it's your tv's faultman. rhythym games just make it more obvious

  • Wait so if you have an electric guitar say a bc rich beast you can just plug in and play or you have to have a stupid little guitar hero guitar ( I'm at 45 seconds )

  • @robertpal9 you use an actual guitar. real. so yes your bc rich will work. i think theres an amp mode where you can use your xbox and the surround sound or whatever system you have to jam. it also has pedals in it i hear.

  • @fenderian It does teach you how to play. Playing songs is only a portion of the game. They have tutorials and tricks in different sections to educate you on how to do things other than pick strings.

  • I thought that this was going to be a really good idea until I saw guitar-unexperienced people playing this game. They had no clue on how to even hold the guitar and pick properly! The thing that bugs me about this game is that it teaches you how to play songs, it DOES NOT teach how to acutally play the guitar. I'm happy for people who want to learn guitar because of this game, but those who take the guitar seriously may be offended by their art being turned into some child's play, just saying.

  • @fenderian I think its a good teaching tool personally i've only been playing for about a week or so and i know more now than i did before i bought it, so guess i cant complain to much it does what it says far as i can tell

  • @thomas242007

I'm really glad for you!! I wasn't trying to be demeaning to people who pick up guitar through this game. I'm just being old school, haha. Please tell me, does Rocksmith actually show you how to play some complex songs, meaning does it show you tabs of the trickiest riffs and melodies? How cool would it be if it could process any song you want and turn it into easy notes to read on screen! I would have the game right now if it could do that. Rock on!!

  • @fenderian yeah i gotcha, the only thing i wish it could do that it doesn't is, i wish there was a away you could put any guitar tab on a usb and put it in the xbox and load whatever song you want onto it, id imagine it be pretty easy to do, maybe someday though, by the way i do still plan on taking lessons though, it is a great tool though

  • @fenderian what are you talking about it doesn't actually teach you how to play guitar that makes no sense. what else does it do

  • @xolilcreight

Here's why I think that: nothing that can replace being taught by a actual, experienced teacher. Right from the start, you learn proper technique and playing from a person of much greater experience who can immediately correct your technique and errors so that you learn to be efficiet from the start. Of course people learn much on their own, too. Learning to play a song on the guitar and taking on the discipline of the instrument are very different things, my friend. Rock on!!

  • plug the sonofabitch into an amp and practice like a big boy!

  • hey, if you go to options, you can change the Lag.. in case the cables dont work

  • anyone know if they will be putting out some dlc with more songs on it

  • Hey i was wondering can you buy tabs and add on music for this game? i want to play some metallica tunes on this system :)

  • heheh i got cheapo stratocaster i bought from target, hopefully once i get good at this game i can get a better guitar, but it should do for now for learning and begining purposes

  • im struggling to get this game in the uk .. any got any advice ??

  • i'm hoping to get the 200 bundle for christmas so learn how to play real guitar instead just knowing how to play expert on guitar hero

  • @Saleen724 the guitar in the bundle is shit buy a good guitar for christmas trust me

  • Hi I play the drums about 4 years and know I want play guitar so I don't need any teacher just this game right?

  • my advice get a life pick up a guitar and learn the real way

  • This guy has no fucking clue about guitars I've been plying for 6 years and rocksmith is the wort invention for guitar players

  • I heard that it was simple and taught cords, but I can do cords just fine well it help me do solos and stuff.

  • i can play some decently hard songs such as the human abstract or between the buried and me. But i honestly have no base in music. Will this teach me things such as scales or anything? or chord and chord names?

  • Nice review man! What is the scale runner mini-game like? I know you can practice minor, pentatonic, and other scales. But can you practice all the different scale positions or is just one scale position over and over?

  • Hey thanks for this reveiw it helped but where do you practice the scales?

  • i think that if you want to learn more songs you should be able to download them like in rockband

  • lol fuck guitar hero and rock band! I play guitar, and this is the shit!

  • Great demo!

  • @jo88423 I have been self teaching myself guitar for the last few years, got dozens of books, from scale practice to songs, I just heard about this game the other day and picked up the ps3 version last night, it seems very well done, and as a tool to get some practice time in, well its a winner!! I wouldn't even think twice about buying it, just get it and start getting some real fun practice time in!

  • Does the game learn both guitar parts?

    Which is rhythm and lead.

  • Probably shitty guitar in the bundle just get the gane and go to guitar center and get a real guitar

  • @ZacksGameSpot Its a epiphone les paul junior, a good entry level guitar, BUT yeah, you can find something better at a guitar center or even on a pawnshop

  • hey in the 200 dollar guitar bundle how is the guitar ?

  • @stupidmonkey121 Epiphone Les paul Jr. an entry level guitar

  • Very nice review, very informative. Thanks!

  • i wonder if the lag will be fixed for the PC version.

  • That was a really good review. You don't seem biased or pissed off like a lot of the videos I see on here. You're down to earth and that's very cool.

  • does anyone know how i can get this in the uk?

  • Even without a gameplay demonstration, is a very good review. Convinced me to order a copy. Thanks!

  • personally i think that, if you're looking to pick up guitar playing, this would be great as exercise and practice, but in no way should replace actual studies of music theory, composition etc. I have been trying to be a self taught guitarist for a while but have been to busy to really sit down and practice alone. i'm thinking of getting this as a means of what i said earlier. your thoughts? (anybody not just the poster)

  • this game is so sick............i hope that rockband and guitar hero go under and this thing takes over so that the next game can be even better!

  • It seems like the general consensus is that musicians love it and people who have never played guitar hate it.

  • I have read in amazon review they said you can fix the delayed sound by using RCA out put instead of HDMI cable. Hope this help you.

  • @mailtopravit it did actually thank you lol. Using the analog cables works just fine with my surround sound system now.

  • @Darkadian11 Glade it works for you. I'm going to get mine for PC in December since I don't have PS# or Xbox. If you have time can you record some gameplay for people to see.

    Thanks

  • @Darkadian11

hi men..what i would like to ask you is...to you really feel like your playing for real? and do you really feel like your learning/improving someting from the game?

    cheers

  • I've been playing guitar for about 7 years. And i wonder if it is worth to buy it? Cuz Im rly excited about this game!! :D

  • I played the game when it was as a demo at Uproar festival, there was a lag there too with an Epiphone guitar. Just to fill you in.

  • Did you calibrate the lag in-game? Are you going HDMI/optical audio???

  • @ASquared007 Yes I did calibrate the lag and I am using HDMI for video and optical for Audio. But its not the game that is lagging it's the audio from me playing to me hearing it through my sound system so obviously it's a hardware issue on my end :)

  • If you're planning on doing more game reviews, I have 2 suggestions:

    - Incorporate gameplay footage into your videos. People wanna see the game or see YOU playing.

    - Get a mic, headsets are not attractive to viewers.

Other than that, surprisingly good review.

  • @RoyalTee202 Thank you, It is my first review and I will remember that next time thanks for the advice :)

  • is it possible to play with eletric acoustic guitars?

  • @ToshirokArai Yes as long as you have the 1/4" jack for your acoustic guitar you will be able to play.

  • I bought the game last night and yeah at first I was a little bit unsure about it, but I decided to risk it either way. I barely made it in time for the last copy, and so far I have no regrets. The only thing that would make this game even better is online multiplayer, and being able to download online users custom made songs like Guitar hero does. Other than that is a pretty fun game that will get you closer to a guitar master.

  • I bought the 200 bundle holy fuck its awsome i had no lag n i am using hdmi

  • @vicenvirtues I do believe it is a hardware issue on my end thank you for letting us know about your experience

  • @Darkadian11 I think the pluging setup between HDTV Sonsole and Audio System influence that lag. That probably why UBISOFT made an full page for setup on the Rocksmith website

  • @vicenvirtues Thats awesome man!! How do you like the guitar that comes with the $200 bundle?? I know its a Epiphone Les Paul Jr. Is it any good?? I know nothing about guitars, but Im either gonna get either the $200 bundle or just the game with a Squire Bullet Strat.

  • i have the game and when you actually play there is no lag. but during main menu theres a little noticable lag but it shouldn't put you off the game.

  • I think you did a good and very fair review. I also have the game but have not played it yet. The lag is a known and reported on before on previews. I believe you are right that it will be about how nit picky the individual is. What is apparent is that this has taken a major step in making video games to a entire different level. Teaching a true and proven marketable skill. Returning people back to real music making. Revolutionary!

  • lol, you can't criticize the game for having off timing with sound when ur video does.

  • @HappyTrigger180 that's because I'm using the standard webcam on my laptop that has nothing to do with my game system or television. But I do agree the video is horrible but its the best I have at the moment.

  • @HappyTrigger180 He was simply saying it wasn't a big problem... He even said that it wasn't really a problem at all...

  • I just heard about this game. I'm an off and on guitar player and a bit skeptical about buying this game. I can learn somewhat easy songs through tabs and listening to the music, so not sure if I'll get a whole lot out of it. Would you say this game is fun and worth $80 compared to a more free way of learning songs?

  • @mikecm87 It is extremely fun, as far as being worth it I would say yes as well. Not only are you learning the songs but you are learning chords and scales that will help you free form your own play style while playing a game that's challenging and enjoyable.

  • @Darkadian11 iz there a free mod.where we can play whatever we want with our guitar.

  • solid review but did you try using external speakers for the sound? if so did it help?

  • I will get this game. Thanks,

    By the way 5th

  • yeah i was trying to keep an eye on it and i didn't even realize that it came out already.

For such a revolutionary-like game it didn't get much attention...

  • i had audio lag problems as well
