  • Its amazing to me sometimes how such incredibly talented songwriters and instrument players can put together a spliced series of eerie noises and short riffs and call it anything. It's just meaningless noise to me. I suppose if I were as talented and famous as Jimmy ol' Peter G could splice together a series of me passing wind, call it a potential cover tune, sell it to the cult of personality junkies and make a million off it. Come on Jimmy, you can do better than this.

  • @comcreature I'm not sure if you understand what he was making this music for. It was to be accompaniment/incidental soundtrack music for a movie being produced by Kenneth Anger. If you don't know who Anger is, wikipedia it. He's an underground artist who makes very surreal, bizarre movies, & "Lucifer Rising" called for that kind of stuff. Unfortunately, Anger had a falling out with Page & the collaboration failed. So, this isn't just Jimmy tinkering around making "noise."

  • Wow there's so much speculation as to whether Jimmy Page was cursed by Kenneth Anger blah blah. This is nonsense. Jimmy has been very blessed (by God) to have had so much success and look at him now...so many love and follow him. He's old, he's gray and he's always smiling. And you say he's cursed? Lol! And by the way, what you hear on this channel is a man tapping a darker shade of energy in a place where there is perhaps, an abundance of darker energy and voila, these three takes..amazing!

  • why is he so amazing...?

  • Thanks for posting this and not the Bobby Beausoliea (mangled the spelling) version like so many others do.

You might like a song I just posted today - Morning Star, by Rosetta West. Doesn't sound like this, but it's similar in that it tries to evoke a spiritual response.

  • Lightleds...

  • if you think something caused jimmy to lose any talent, it was the white lady. (heroin, for those who are not acquainted with her). i dont think he lost any talent at all, seeing as that after he overcame his addiction he was back and at his best again (well, maybe not best). this music was in fact recorded while he was addicted, but really, it is very artistic and creative and incredibly complex. compared to heroin addicts of today, with their simple loops and auto tune, this is a masterpiece.

  • I love this. Darker than the violin bow solos on Dazed and Confused and more minimalist. If you like this listen to Tartar Lamb, lol.

  • sucks...

  • Somet6hing caused Page to loose his talent...

  • @anothercountyheard

I beleive it was drugs that ruined him, unfortunatley.

  • @Stargrove777 His biograph makes that clear, but the fact remains; look at his production pre 77 and post and it's like he lost his talent. No other major rock atrist I know of evinces such a sudden decline, it's usually a slow arc...And the whole story plays nicely into the mythology , he sold his soul for rock and roll etc. His best music is soo good and so powerful as to invite the belief that it had some supernatural basis.

    see Robert Johnson Crossroads etc

    20th century myths

  • @anothercountyheard Well, he had some things after that. The Death Wish 2 soundtrack had some inspired moments but, yeah, he did fall from grace alot. In his case, it doesn't really matter though. He produced so much during the time that he was creative. We have 8 albums that are, from top to bottom, amazing. And it's feasible that he could end up being remembered as one of the great compsoers.

  • @ludwigvan17 I agree about the 8 albums, amazing doesn't really do it justice. I take it from your name and your mention of 'composers' that you are a fan of classical music? I think the title of record producer is

correct, composer to my way of thinking being an anachronism. Recording is the most important development in the history of music, and Page is one of the unsurpassed masters of the art. I wouldn't trade one of those 8 albums for the entire corpus of western classical music...

  • @anothercountyheard I wouldn't go that far. After all, without that corpus, we wouldn't have Mr.Page or any other popular music really. But, yeah, his shit's definitely essential.

  • after 1:00 it kind of sounds like black sabbath's song "black sabbath", very weird and interesting, and scary

  • This sucks. Bobby Beausoliel's soundtrack is dark, moody, and most of all beautiful!

  • And Light Bearer means the divine angel or spirit that brings the Light of initiation and Knowledge to the mankind, where tehere's no duality between good and bad/light and darkness). The Fathers of Chatolics twisted this and consecuently Lucifer turns to be considerated an evil entity (Satan). This is for occultists, anyway and does not imply nessesarily "black magic" or "satanism".

  • @lucisfero i dont believe lucifer appears in the bible very much anyways. possibly morning star does and lucifer is a name for the morning star which can be interpreted as the planet venus. actually though Page was definitely into "black magic" as he was pretty heavily into occultism specifically the writings of Aleister Crowley. you've never heard of the Zeppelin Curse? how everyone started dying supposedly because of the dark ritual magick Page was into?

  • @DoctorSess yeah, of course i heard it... and i don´t believe that at all. I mean, the practice of occultism does not imply necesarily black magic, but there´s no doubt that it can be a dangerous bussiness for those who study and practice the occult,

  • @lucisfero no not all occultism is "black magic" im just saying the type of ritual magic that Page is into (Crowley's magick with a k) could be considered the black kind. it is what it is. I'm not saying i believe the zeppelin curse just that people close to them including the drummer all died tragically and that some of the people in their circles wondered if it had to do with Page's meddling in dark ritual magic. Magic is a tool in our hands it takes human choice to make it "good or evil"

  • @DoctorSess I understand that the purpose of Crowley's Magick is the discover of "True Will"-"knowledge and conversation with the Holy Guardian Angel". Page was the owner of Crowley's house on Loch Ness, the Kiblah for thelemites. And there already were "bad vibrations" before the Abra-Melin Operation, wich imply invocations of dark forces and make them serve the light, or so they said. Is dangerous, but this necessarily imply a direct conection to Zeppelin curse?. What about Kenneth Anger?

  • @lucisfero perhaps he lost control over the entities he invoked. from what i understand (very little) that can happen when you are dabbling in dark magic beyond your ability or comprehension. I'm not saying it lead to the Zep Curse or that that is even real, just repeating what i have heard. Supposedly people who knew Page and the rest of them said that they believed it had something to do with his occultism. Don't summon a demon unless you are able to control it (if anyone can).

  • @DoctorSess Well, in a legendary interview with novelist William Burroughs in 1975 Page explains that Boleskine has "good vibrations for those who are relaxed and receptives", wich leads to think that the perceptions of good or bad vibes depends of the person. The housekeeper claims that he had some terrible expeiences there, in a room where there was a temple in old times, just like H. P. Lovecraft novel, "The Hound"

  • @lucisfero i tend to agree that it does depend on the person and what they gravitate towards or what they bring towards themselves. still a creepy house on loch ness that belonged to the beast himself? thats a heavy place to take substances, write, and delve into yourself. that is interesting about Anger and Page...i assume you mean he literally cursed him, or put a hex on him yeah? ill have to look into that.

  • @DoctorSess I actually think that Crowley's Thelema isn't black magick or satanism, as, to say, does Anton La Vey, BUT, as i said before, isn't a path without risks. The "True Will" is the discover of our positions in life, in every aspect. Made conscious the unconscious, brings Light to Darkness, as luciferians claims. This imply listen the instinct and fly away repression. Not to wallow in darkness, but to learn control of our Shadow and gain power and independence over our own misery.

  • a magus is not as such without control over the forces of darkness. I don´t know if Anger cursed Page, mine is just another suspicious mind

  • @lucisfero what about kenneth anger? i actually dont know much besides that he made some heavy shit and that Page made this song for a film i think? fill me in.

  • @DoctorSess Abra-Melin rituals required so much time, and Page was very much into Led Zeppelin in those days. I don´t think he really had the time for practice something like that. And it seems that Page wasn't the kind of guy who fooled around with those type of things. Anger and Jimmy had a fight in the press, and it said that Anger cursed Page for not having finished the soundtrack and for being a "selfish"

  • @lucisfero oh and play Stairway backwards with your eyes closed and tell me you dont hear them say Satan! hahaha ooooooooh spooky! i wonder...

  • @lilyslimit

ok, but that is under the light of christian/catholic credo and so on... in gnostic terms, BEFORE christianity, Lucifer means and is considerated "The Bringer of Light" and has nothing to do with The Devil but a divine spirit for occultists of many tendencies (gnostics, masons, rosicrucians, templars, or thelemites, wich is Crowley's cult).

  • Great video! I think it captures the essence of Jimmy Page's mystique. These tracks are essays for Kenneth Anger's film, Lucifer Rising. Later, Page used parts of it for Death Wish II...

  • are we sure this is for lucifer rising???

  • A lot of this resembles his work for Death Wish II's soundtrack.

  • check ut hammerwood house jimmy or led zeppelin inc? were going to buy it and make it in to a 5 star recording studio slash band retreat business and rent it out to bands and organizations, companies but it never was completed.they sold the estate

  • uuuh ya bulshitt... God didnt create Satan, he created angels and some of them fell and become evil bearers

  • @Batiggia the christians created satan, as a kindof insentive to obey the commandments

  • @Batiggia semantics----God created everything. Some of His creations have free will to do as they choose. Lucifer chose to reject God. duh

  • Tell it to the Bay City Rollers....hahahaaa

  • I believe in God, and Jesus, and Zeppelin is my favorite band, and i think Page is the best guitarist ever. i must be really messed up!! lol. if you think im wrong or dont like it, then shoot me. lol

  • Lucifer, the light bearer is not Satanic. Besides, if God created all, he also created Satan, didn't he?

Page's work was replaced by Bobby Beaudoleil's which is also great, but I'd love to have seen this finished and remastered now for cd. With the assistance of Page.

  • yes God created satan, lucifer, he had a choice to swallow his pride or not. He failed. Sorry satan, lucifer, light bearer, whatever, all the same

  • Yes, God said to Lucifer after the latters uprising: You're going DOWN !

  • So mote it be.

  • I know that his drug use didnt really start hampering his performance until the late 70's, but this to me, just has a dark sound to it. Plus i know that Jimmy had an obsession with the occult.

  • So is it true that they are satanic or what? Or is this jut the result of Jimmy Page using drugs 24/7

  • worst question ever.

  • wow, I never heard this! thanks lucy.

    francesca

  • Anger rejected this music. He thought it was just a load of droning and blamed it on Page's drug use.

  • I'm sure this recording was put together in 1973, but I think It was recorded around 1970, before Jimmy and Robert went to Bron Yr Aur cottage, please correct me if i'm wrong

  • Not 100% sure, however I CAN at least tell you the following...Jimmy & Robert went to BronyrAur in May 70. Lucifer Rising came out in 1972 (without Page's work). Page let the director(Kenneth Anger) film some of the scenes in the basement of

TOWER HOUSE. (not sure if anything went down at Boleskine?) Page submitted 23 min of material, Anger wanted 28. Anger claimed it took Page 3 yrs to deliver, and after all that, it wasn't even enough. So it looks like your timeline (69 -70) is about right.

  • Lucifer rising did not come out in 1972. It was much later. It wasn't released until 1981. By the mid-70's Anger was upset that Page had not come up with more material. This might have been recorded in '73, but Page was still on being counted on for a soundtrack by 76'. When he didn't have much Anger decided to go with someone else.

  • Do you have the other recordings the really long ones that were released on vinyl ? I've only seen them in .flac I wish someone would post them.that would be nice.

  • Thanks for posting!

Sounds genuine from the snippets I have heard before and nice pictures that I haven't seen before.

Do you have any more you could add to your loop?
