Not special forces. It's VDV, the sort of "mobile infantry" in soviet/russian army. They are the analogue of US marines + Airborne.

Sptesnaz are veterans of regular army, the most experienced, the selection is brutal. Spetsnaz is not something you can enlist to out of the street like these guys did.

VDV (Vozdushno-Desantnye Voiska) are the airborne troops, not marines. They're the 6th service in the modern Russian military (part of the army in the USSR), but they're also, like the Naval infantry (Morskaya Pekhota), regarded as an elite force.

Yeah they really weren't special forces just regular Airborne infantry, there were thousands of similar units in the Red Army.
