CLS63 AMG has no performance package because the CLS63 AMG is the performance package! And BMW has always made better performing sports cars than Mercedes. Mercedes just makes safer and more luxurious sports cars but focuses on the everyday driving comfort aspect of their vehicle where BMW does not.

Excuses all the time. Only if the E63 had the performance package. Whatever. From factory M5 kicks its ass. And if we tuned the M5 it would be over 600hp easily. This M5 is now unmatched once we get into mods.

@IPGAuto think again. first the pp amg option IS a factory option, and it only puts the power closer to being equal to the m5(although still less by 2 hp - m5 552 > amg 550) and talking about mods the amg has more potential. bigger engine, the m5 is near its max. there are cls63 amgs running low 11's with just a tune, stock tires.

why the fuck do they never race the the e63 tt with the m5.... thats a closer comparison. i will admit that the driver said the m5 was a bit faster, but the cls63 weights more that the e63. the e63tt with pp will most certainly beat the m5, drag race or track. This is coming from a bmw fan ;)

@MegaGmaan the panamera is the first porsche sedan ever and its faster than new m5 - prven and in fact. they testet it on track. the m5 was only faster than e63 amg pp but pana and amg was faster on straight and the m5 consuption was very bad for a brand new car 16l/100km amg and pana 1l and 2 l less. the pana is a slap in m-gmbh face. the old cadilac ctr beats easily the m5 v10 - proven and in fact. m5 is good, but other are better.

this CLS 63 AMG doesn't have performance package. it's only have 518 hp, M5 has 560 hp. so this CLS is 42 hp less than the M5. if the CLS with performance package, it will bring power ratings up to 550 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. then it would be a much fair game!

Secondly, Ive owned both MB's and BMW's, more than 1 of each, and BMW makes great cars, but it doesnt really do anything better or prettier then any Merc and it may just be my luck, but ive had serious electrical problems with both my 5 and 3. Btw, Benz increased sales in the past year by 30%, BMW by less then 10%.. could it be because all new BMW's look like the same crap now? hahaha.. dumb fanboy.

@Amgbenz0 Yadda yadda, I didn't say I didn't like mercedes, I just think BMW is a much better car. If you had electrical problems then you must have bought one that wasn't well maintained. My parents bought a 740 that was on the cheap side and it has been super unreliable. But I bought a preowned 330 at the dealership for way under KBB and it has been one of the best BMW's i've owned.

@robbie1490 Rightt.. theres a big difference between New and Used cars, any used car can be unreliable, now matter how well maintained it looks, its mostly about luck. I bought my 545i brand new at that time and the same for my 335i as well. Before i even got to 60k miles my seat was dropping and my steering column was moving up while i was driving. Rarely, my highbeams would flash on their own and almost all the time my brake lights wouldnt work and my tail lights would flash.. unreliable.

Wait, that CLS63 doesn't have the performance package which raises horsepower to 550, and torque to 590 lb-ft. I think that would definitely have a bit of a leg-up on the M5 given its considerable torque advantage.
