  • those goons got pawned

  • hey i remember this movie!

  • F'ING LOVE IT

  • I love this movie. In my opinion, among gangster flicks, its up there with the Godfather. A little different approach but still fantastic.

  • My fav. Coen.

  • this scene is absolutely brilliant. the whole thing is made up by mise en scene!!! 10/10

  • play the clash "tommy gun" over this, it works perfectly!

  • Ein Meisterwerk!!!!

  • overkill to the max on the second guy

  • Never fuck with an old fart in savoy slippers.

  • lmao

  • This scene is completeley ridiculous and unbelievable from beginning to end.

And it was meant to be.

    :-)

  • finney is my last name so i thought id look it up lol

    bored...

  • well he made sure the second guy was dead

  • By my count, Irish 5 - Guineas 0; so much for the Italian tough guys; they're usually the ones found crying for mercy and squealing on their cohorts;

  • Yes sir...we Irish are as cold-blooded as they come...let's not cry over spilled Guineas. Slainte!

  • Nobody fucks with the Finney.

  • Me like

  • play 'tommy gun' by the clash in another window while watching this video, it works perfectly!

  • one of the best scenes!

  • who sings this?

  • vete a cagar. lo de la escenita violenta con una clásico de fondo está muy visto. te queda mucho cine por delante.

  • What?

  • Frank Patterson

  • one of the best scenes ever made

  • Whoops, forgot to say which film, "Once Upon a Time in the West," (1968).

  • interestingly enough, Sergio Leone used "Danny Boy" for the scene where the family gets massacred by Henry Fonda and his gang.

  • Who is singing Danny Boy?

  • carter burwell

  • Go Leo!

  • damn Albert Finney could kick ass

  • Unbelievable!

  • Ha, ha: "The old man's still an artist with a Thompson." Awesome. What an amazing movie.

  • Don't get in the way of the Irish, "Godfather boys."

  • Don't get in the way of the Irish, "Godfather boys."

  • Of all of the films I have seen, this is the geatest portrayal of badassery to date. The Coen Brothers are great artists.

  • wow... i havent even seen the movie and I'm amazed...

  • Irish > Italian

  • thus spake the American... right.

  • Indeed

  • I love the that the setup to this scene implies Leo's death. The sad "Oh Danny Boy" on the record player. The stalking gunmen. Then pow! Leo just flips the script and puts every one of them down. Wonderful editing and imagery. Especially the end of the scene where Leo stands in the street victorious, the Tommy gun smoking. One of the greatest scenes in film.

  • Well said.

  • The best part is when the guy shoots himself in the feet while Albert Finney is shooting him in the back.

  • When I saw this scene I knew I was in the presence of greatness.

  • lol "Suck my Big Fish!"

  • Actually my last name is Finney also. My grandpah told me that he is realated to me way down the line, pretty cool huh?

  • best scene from the movie

  • ahhhh those Coen brothers,... How incredible they could bring, humor, sarcasm and ultra violence, and sound all at the same time. This scene is great. =]

  • You should upload the other "owned" scene from Miller's Crossing where Sam Raimi dies and the army of cops blast the shit out of the restaurant. :D

  • Finneys a bad mother fucker

  • That's a brilliant scene... and the bit with the cigar just caps it off!

  • Funny as fuck. So perfect!

  • This is one of the greatest scenes in cinema... the boss might be old, but he shows how he got on top. The music only makes it better.

  • the dude abides.

  • pretty good!

  • This film is NOT meant to be realistic.

Don't question "how many bullets are in a Tommy gun?" or "would the chandelier really spin?"

This film is pure fantasy and metaphoric art.

    Brilliant.

  • total bs the chandelier would only spin clockwise duh

  • Damn!

    Now I hate this film!!!

    Double damn!!!!!

  • Beautifully Edited

  • Hardcore...

  • A tommy gun could hold a 100 round drum, so if he had a 100 round drum in that gun it's fairly believable as he only shoots a few short bursts at the car and the rest into the other gangster.

  • That drum never ends does it.

  • this movie is a far third like the cubs ? where is the weedsd

  • ya must be better than fargo and big lebowski ? can i kill you ? or do WE have to stand in line to geta shot at an idiot like yourself ????

  • I thought he was going to relight this cigar on the hot barrel of the gun for a minute :)

  • this is easily the best movie made in the genre

  • I just thought I would reply twice for no real reason.

  • The Coens have final cut on most of their films, so the version that everyone has seen essentially *is* the director's cut.

  • The Coens have final cut on most of their films. So the version you have basically *is* the director's cut.

  • BTW, if you like Millers Crossing, lookup "The Krays", an excellent portrayal of two psychopathic brothers in London during the 60's. Very dark, very creepy.

  • This is the best scene in the movie (IMHO), better even than the "Look into your heart" scene with John Turturro. This is also a music video, a wonderful performance of Danny Boy by Frank Patterson (accompanied by the Thompson sub-machine gun). So maybe you should credit the song, Patterson's performance, and the Thompson in the keywords. Great post!

  • I love gangster flicks, read about this one; and was not dissapointed. It was awesome. I love the dialogue, how everybody's stabbin each other in the back, the characters, everything. I need to own this movie.

  • The just fuck with the wrong irish! XDD

  • This and the scene where about hundred cops shoot at the restaurant are two of the best shooting scenes I've seen. :)

  • Perfectly constructed scene. Albert Finney is a badass in this movie.

  • OMG! How many fucking bullets did he used in that Thompson? Awesome scene.

  • machine gunning people in your dress dressing gown and slippers and still looking cool is a feat in itsself

  • Don't fuck with the Irish

  • Could you upload the scene where Burie is begging that is such a powerful scene...John Tuttoro and Albert Finney For Eva'!!

Oh and by the way....REGECTED, HIRED HENCHMEN!, REGECTED!!!

  • Don't fuck with an Irish man past his 50.

  • Awesome scene. How come Youtube won't let us show boobs, but we can see someone get their brains blown out at close range? Empire magazine put this in their 10 favourite shootouts. Deservedly.

  • this film is one of the best of its genre ever made. this scene is perfect

  • One of the best scenes in one of the best 90's movies

  • I absolutely love this scene. the determined yet calm look on albert finneys face as he's shooting caspers men is breathtaking. classic.

  • an absolutely wonderful scene from one of my favourite movies ever.

  • "the old man's still an artist with the Tommy Gun."

  • OWNED!!!

  • I like the part where Ed Dane shoots that dude throught the wall better....

  • great film..but...err...just how many bullets does an old Thomson machine gun hold? 50? ...endless supply here

  • Jeez...Good point. It's like a video game gun. He must have shot off thousands of rounds! NOT realistic at all. But, I guess we just chalk it up to "it's a movie".

  • Coen brothers rule! This film is very underrated but fuck it so are a lot of great films. Let the masses go see their shitty films and we'll see ours. If a greater melody than "Danny Boy" has been written I'd love to hear it.

  • I like your point. I was puzzled and upset why this movie never made it into the first league.

  • Why has people not seen this before?!

  • I wonder how many bullets have that guy inside his body XD

  • Favorite gangster movie. Favorite scene from it.

  • Clearly one of the most underated crime films in recent history. The movie is a stunning work of art that is brilliantly written and beautifully acted.

  • Best scene of a classic american gangster film. Although not in this scene Gabriel Byrne's performance was incredible as was the case with his other films (i.e. "Usual Suspects" and "End of Days"). I Wonder if a sound track for this film was ever released?

  • is has been, and i have it!! mwhaha! message me and il find ya the link to it..

  • and i agree, this is a fantastic film, has anyone seen the new coens one?

  • yup - i got the soundtrack. surprisingly patchy considering the great use of music in the film. at the end the cd just cuts off halfway through a track. Still worth having though
