  • The collision of two 747 in 1977 in which 583 people died. In 2006 a B737 collided with a Legacy 600 in Brazil leading to the loss of 154 lives.

    Although separated by time and place, a contributory factor in both accidents was a lack of English proficiency on the part of flight crews or controllers.

    I believe that the use of a single language (English) in ATC will help to improve crews situational awareness and avoid other communication problems.

    I am an ATC Instructor and I know that non-native English speakers appreciate all the help they can get to acquire Radiotelephony English for Pilots and Controllers.

    With your help and the help of all field-expert you-tubers this could become into an internet technical reference material to develop communicative proficiency in phraseology, for communication in routine situations, and plain English for non-routine situations.
