  • absoloute pure magic from the princess there, would love to see her at Liverpool and Shap gr8 shots, keep them coming 5*

  • Thanks very much, Lizzie sounding in great form on this run

  • 6201 has been having a banner of great excursions this year. I really enjoy that first shot as well.

  • Great stuff, Austin. I bet you're pleased to have "nailed" the shot at Edge Hill. That's really one to be proud of. The other two are good, too. Birket Common has loads of "atmosphere"!

One tweak you could try on the Birket shot, if your editor has the facility, is to raise the blacks (the darkest parts of the picture) slightly, which should give a little more detail to the locomotive, especially as it passes you.

  • Many thanks Mark, very pleased with the shot at Edge Hill, I've made a black & white version for myself too as an Eric Treacy tribute and then brought in the colour as she passes under the bridge. I can raise the black levels so will give that a go for my edited copy. Thanks for the tip. We were very lucky at Birkett as the rain only eased moments before she came into view.

  • At last I've managed to sort out my connection with YouTube and downloaded all of this masterpiece. The Edge Hill shot is something I could only dream of getting. I think I'll be watching that a few times for sure. Lizzie seems to be going so well at the moment and that looks a very creditable speed over the top of Shap. She even looks good in the rain and the beat sounds so even. Another great video Austin. Thanks Chris

  • Thanks very much Chris, you have a few more bites of the cherry at Edge Hill, go on give it a go, but get there early for the prime spot. I agree with you about Lizzie and the speed at the summit, looked pretty good. That sound could be heard for ages after she passed, pure magic.

  • Wow Austin, what a cracker at Edge Hill. Excellent work throughout. Mike

  • Thanks very much Mike, I was really pleased with the Edge Hill shot especially as there were no modern units in view.

  • @acw71000

Do you still think this to be your best shot at Edge Hill or 6233, 5305 or 5043.

  • Definitely this one as I think apart from the slight heavy hand pulling back on the zoom I didn't make too many mistakes and was able to pan reasonably well too. 5305 wasn't bad but I wasn't in prime position for 5043

  • Totally brilliant! Well done!

  • Thanks for your very kind comments, I'm pleased you enjoyed it.

  • Cracking footage Austin Thanks for sharing 5* Phil.

  • Thanks very much Phil, that performance from Lizzie certainly made it good to film

  • another one of your excellent videos 5****** +

  • Thanks Wayne, I was pleased with this one especially the first shot as it was one I'd been after for a long time.

  • At last Austin, you've got that classic shot we've all been waiting for and this has gone straight into my favourites...three classic locations but Edge Hill will be my favourite, thanks for the perfect capture...Bob

  • Thanks Bob, it's been a long wait for that shot but at last I've made it. Try watching in black and white for that Eric Tracy feel!

  • Some great shots - for those of us who can't be there - well we appreciate your posts. Those Stanier Pacifics don't look out of place on a modern railway!!! :-) TU

  • Thank you very much Hugh, nice to know that you can enjoy these videos on the other side of the world. You are quite right about the Pacifics, they can still do it in the right hands.

  • Excellent video Austin. A good day was had yesterday on the train itself. Lizzie certainly did not let us down.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Jeff

  • Thanks very much Jeff, glad you have this and the other videos from the day as a little souvenir. I'm sure you had a brilliant day, sparkling performance I thought.

  • Superb shots from Lizzie!!! The beat from this engine is amazing!

  • Thanks, I thought it was one of the best performances from her yesterday that I had ever seen, as you say,a lovely beat

  • Outstanding Austin. You never cease to impress with your ability to find reprobate free locations. Always a pleasure 5★. Keith

  • Thanks Keith, I was amazed to find I had Shap Summit to myself, apart from hundreds of midges and other assorted flying pests, but it was a good day all in all.

  • Another very good video.

She sounds in fine form doesn't she.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Dave

  • She sure does Dave, just as good as I remember her in my train spotting days. Thanks for your kind comments.

  • Great stuff, Austin. Amazing how the dull weather improves the smoke effects. How ever did you achieve a deserted platform at Edge Hill? I'm not mad on horses but I enjoyed your shot of the three. A good day's work, I reckon. Thanks a lot. . .. Alan

  • Thanks Alan, I agree about the dull weather, certainly allows for a bit of clag. I was at Edge Hill a good hour before she was due to leave Lime St., there was a chap kneeling in front of me actually but it was quieter than expected.

  • Extremely proffesional video Austin, you amaze me everytime with your filming and editing skills. Thumbs up

  • Thanks very much Jon for your very kind comments, glad you enjoyed the video.

  • Thanks Steve, the Edge Hill shot was one I'd been after for a long time. Strange at Shap as there was nobody else around. Still drying out after Birkett!

  • Austin you put us all to shame your Edge Hill is brilliant. Dave

  • Cheers Dave, had to get there about 6.20 to get the prime spot there, but well worth it.

  • Eric Treacy would have been pleased with the Edge Hill shot.

  • Yes indeed, a great inspiration, I have wanted to capture Lizzie there for so long. I did wonder about releasing that clip in black and white as a tribute to the great man.

  • another gem mate, thanks.

  • Thanks Leon, brilliant performance from Lizzie and her crews all day.

  • Thank you Austin, another very good video!! Regards Dave

  • Thanks very much Dave, took a soaking for the last shot but worth it in the end.

  • That was awesome Austin, i think we have got Lizzie coming to Scarborough next friday heading the Scarborough Flyer,i think i may miss it .start a new job on Monday BOO!!!!.......John

  • Thanks John, perhaps you'll be able to see her at lunchtime, Good Luck with the new job.

  • Really nice location choices there and a pleasure to watch 5* once again

    JamesandPeter

  • Thanks very much, I think in all the videos from yesterday you can see her working so well.

  • SIMPLY STUNNING.............

  • Very kind of you, thanks a lot.
