What sai are those called cuz when I search "Elektra sai" the sai with the wishing well display come up, not that those ones aren't cool, it's just I want the ones like yours... Where did you find them?
can you inbox me your answer so that i can actually see it.. my question is i wanna get sai's but not for like fighting just to do the first two tricks you showed in your video would be enough....is it possible that i might stab myself or cut a finger by mistake??? or are they safe
@EmmaAveBeero dude, sai arent sharp. they are desind to be used against a bladed weapon in close quarter combat, like the jutte of the nunchucks. not sharpened at all. so no is the answer to your question.
cool video, I'm going to try that with my sai's... I just recently found the elektra sai's and I really wanna get some of those.. I want to learn how to spare with the sai's
Is it just me, or does anybody else notice anything.......ummm, interesting about this person ? Not that theres anything wrong with him, he's obviously very talented but, his wrists seem kinda limp ? Not knocking you dude, just an observation.....
I noticed that the sai's that u showed at the begining of your video were ingraved were did u get them from coz i've been looking everwhere 4 a pair like that :)
Mostly spinning comes in handy during tournements. Spinning is also good to distract your enemy during combat. Get him or her looking away for just a split second and then attack. Why do you think when you spar you shift your feet back and forth? 1. So your enemy doesnt time your kicks or attack and 2. So they dont see what you're going to do right away and they're eyesight will be looking at your feet sometimes.
hi i had seen alot ppl talking about wether spinning of weapon is useless or usefull, actually all this spinning action is not to be done during combat like in the movie but is use as a visual weapon like before u get in contact u display this skill to your oppenent , it would greatly affect their moral , and somehow boost your own confident : )
where did you get your Elektra sai i have been looking for some but i juts want the ones Elektra had in daredevil not the other sai she got with the jem
im gonna get mine from amazon too...are those the electra replicas or are they different? which ones would you reccommend beause i want good quality ones for sparring
i think more guys should use sai in movies. i mean u see plenty of girls use them in movies and tv shows but more guys should use the like this if u agree
This might be a silly question but would you recommend the Elektra replica sai? I've only got a gold aluminium pair which I like but the Elektra ones look so cool... Are they good for practicing with?
@MajesticAngelX Electra's replicas have lethal points on them. So they might be on the more dangerous side for practice, but from what ive read they have decent quality. I still prefer the high carbon steel sais with sharpened tips over these simply because usually replicas tend to be more for showcase. If anybody can find a site for lethal tipped octagon sais, please send me a message because i am looking for flat bladed ones instead of the casual circular ones i find on every site.
@MajinMind Lol well, its not completely useless. its a great intimidation method. and just in case THAT doesnt work, my years of training will come in handy ;)
@MajinMind They methods when he has his fingers on the prongs are purely striking methods...Mainly punching, and with sharpened tips, its meant for lethal organ stries. If he were to block he would hold it in a dominant form. in which his fingers would be around the grip and thumb pressed on the beginning of the blade. XD I use my friends pair every now and then, but now i am looking for my own. Only problem is i want lethal tips on mine and its not exactly easy to find.
I agree with NineLivesToLive, this video is very helpful! I love the movie Elektra =D My friends bought me this really cool pair of blue sai (blue is my favorite color =)) and I'm trying to learn how to use them and it's awesome that you took time to show those flips, thank you!
@TheAndyz17 I got them from Amazon years ago when they sold them in pairs. Because they only made 1000 sets of each, they may not sell them like that anymore.
I just want to thank you for this video. I have been watching several videos here at youtube where people demonstrate how to use sais, but none of them very nearly as helpful as yours. So thank you. :)
I have just bought my sais, and I will start practicing a little bit now. I may come back and ask you questions if there is something I am wondering about.
Does anyone know whats a good sized Sai for a 13 year old? I'm in between a pair of kid 13", but there kinda small or a 18", but it might be too big. I'm leaning toward the 18" pair, but what do I know.
@searchlight12 Go by this. A proper measurement for a sai is one inch ast the elbow. Go with the one that fits that closest. I'm guessing that would probably be the "18 pair. Just s]check it out. If the one set ur using doesn't go past ur elbow then I would go with the others for practical blocking reasons and whatnot
@DarkHeroesForever Check these out. They are similar to the TMNT sais with the red grips, but they have the calligraphy on them from Elektra. Kinda of a cool crossover.
Now I just need to find a way to persuade my parents to get me them cause that looks like fun. I wonder if playing the flute helps with the finger movement...
ow, you really need to find out where these were purchased or give a web address or something because I am dying to get a pair of sias like that. From what I hear they're actually pretty sturdy and living where I do it's always a good idea to have some decent weapons in the house. Ignoring that part yeah, where did you get them?
hey thanks i learned a lot. my sensei just showed me tradition forms with sai with the basic in out flips, stabs, splash, and post or chamber btw i had to open my sais up a lil for spins and twirls
So I think this video is super helpful ever since I saw elektra the movie I went n bought a pair of sai n yet I nvr practiced till now. Just one question is my sai weigh a bit more is that helpful in building strength or is it not helpful to have sai'd that weigh a bit. I can twirl them yea just wondering on the weight. Please n Ty for any comment that can help me =D
@barbie967 Yes! If they are heavier, that is better. You won't be able to move them as quickly first, but you'll build strength. Just make sure you don't drop them on your foot!
Hi Kris, thank you for your extremely clear demonstration. Do you practice martial arts as well? I see on your profile page you are a dancer. Martial arts and dancing go together very well.
This was really helpful thanks so much! Question though, when you do the side-to-side and front-to-back part, the shafts rotate under your elbows. How do you spin them like that? Do you change your grip? I try to go from defensive to the modified offensive hold (two fingers in the prongs) but I seem to bang my arm at that point everytime. Any advice?
this video is going to help me so much. I'm in Richard III as Richmond and I have to do some insane fighting with sais and I only have two weeks. I'm obviously learning fight choreography for the scene but this is great to add a little flair to my character. You're amazing for posting this; all the other videos I've seen are of people showing off so this is great that you broke it down; exactly what I needed to have a couple tricks for my next rehearsal! Thanks!
Where did you find a matching pair like that? I've looked everywhere, and the only set I can find are the "Wishing Well" pair; In that set you get two different sai.
My sais came today! I have watched this video like 12 times today! lol!!! But one question...when i try to spin them, they seem to go really slow and I can't get them to speed up faster like you do yours! Is that normal, do I just need to practice?
ok thanks...yeah its like they twirl them through their fingers or something. The way you do it is really the only way I can do it. My sai are heavier, so im getting lighter ones for practice. Thanks for the great video :-)

@vanity684 This is the only way that I know how to do it, however I have seen other people twirl them differently. I'm not sure how they do it, though.
@vanity684 There is twrling and their is figure 8s. I started training in Sai for about a year now and I learned figure 8s. In this .it looks more like twirling
i was wanting to get the elektra sais. ive fought and practiced sais for ten years now. but how are her sais? like could you actually fight with them or are they really weak? like the would break easy?
@sirkris100 okay. well cause im a martial artist. and my weapon of choice is the sai. i've trained with them for 12 years now. and elektra is one of my biggest idols in martial arts. and i think it would be cool to train with her weapons
