Mona is the true heroine, not Neda. Mona is the one who should have become the icon and symbol of bravery and resistance, not Neda Agha Sultan. I don't understand what's all that fuss over Neda. Neda didn't fight for anything. It was Mona who did that.
Mona was much younger than Neda Agha Sultan. She was brave & a true warrior. Neda was not an activist & before her death, she used to enjoy her life. Neda's only concerns were her make up & wearing her favorite clothes & going to parties. She didn't do anything special. She was just standing there watching the crowd when she got shot. But Mona knew that she was going to die. She was told to renounce her faith to stay alive. But she resisted & prefered to die rather that to give up her beliefes.
@khanoom1000 I don't disagree with you.I,too, believe that Mona's sacrifice was by far greater than Neda's and her sacrifice was voluntary. However, sadly, Mona was killed at a time and in a place where there weren't mobile phones to film her death and then sent to millions throughout the world on the internet.Either way,the point remains, that both of their deaths were unjust.Because of the lack of attention paid to deaths like Mona's,the death of people like Neda became inevitable decades later.
@khanoom1000 and what people still do not recognize now is that because the world was so negligent over Mona's death 29 years ago the legacy of torture and unnecessary killing of innocent people has continued to live 30 years later.Unfortunately,BECAUSE Mona was a Baha'i and died for her faith the people of Iran will not make a symbol out of her.
@khanoom1000 The truth is that what Mona did at the age of 17 was resist living a life in which she would lie about who and what she stood for.Regardless of what people's faiths are or even if they have no religious belief at all, this is what makes Mona a great symbol of non-violent resistance for people EVERYWHERE.I,too, wish the Iranian community would give this poor girl who would have been 46 years old now, well educated and married with children, the credit that she deserves.
@khanoom1000 Many are not aware that when Mona was taken to court, her father's corpse was brought over for her to see. She had a choice to recant her faith or to meet her father's fate. Mona did not allow even her parents' blood to be shed in vain. She resisted the entire way through. I am responding to you on this issue in the hopes that others will read and research what a 17 year old girl stood for 29 years ago. Hopefully, she will get the credit she deserves.
@Volcarona32 I was waiting for that! Tell me - who are the 'palestinians?' What about the Tibetans? What about the Kurds? What about those who observe the Bahaii faith - they are truly persecuted in Iran.
@TeachESL We need to have China change and stop persecuting the Tibetans as well. Along with the Kurds being persecuted almost everywhere they go. They're like the Middle Eastern gypsies. Anyone who persecutes those for what they can't control is wrong and they need to change. ^^
Return to the words of Zoroaster, Persia / Iran. Muhammad is not for you, but against you! Your history is much greater than the yolk under which you now toil! Love, not Hate, is your inheritance, let IT be your legacy!!

@TeachESL Don't ask God to destroy something. We need to convince them to change it themselves.

@TeachESL And there are other countries who persecute minorities. We need to change them, as well. Like Israel perssecuting the Palestinians. ;'(

@Volcarona32 What about the persecution of Christians? What should happen to those who are persecuting and murdering Christians?
TeachESL 4 months ago
@TeachESL Those persecuting Christians need to change as well. ^^
I thought I had made that clear when I said the word 'anyone,' but apparently not. :P

@Volcarona32 And how do you propose that they be stopped from doing this?? Do you know who is doing this to them??

@Volcarona32 A Christian pastor who converted from Islam faces the final appeal of a death sentence in Iran's Supreme Court next week.

@TeachESL I agree that that is wrong.
