do you really think a worshiped human made everything?
Did he make the garden of eden or the land of Argentina.
I choose not to name my Creator of me the name of jesus.
That is my personal belief. The Creator has a *personal name* and THE CREATOR KEEPS IT PERSONAL. got it? oh im not talking about Jehovah and YH he has a name he keeps personal. Identy theft sound familiar?
It is obvious that the Hebrews were not always monotheistic and the Yahweh was not their first God. El may have been their fisrt God and he was a sky God or a Father God. They, like all cultures, developed over time. Yahweh is not the El that Abraham workshipped. His God and Moses' God are not necessariy the same in the Bible. The Quran is the book which tries to make sense of this by pointing out the faults in the Bible.
A lot of people are afraid to admit that the ancient Israelites were henotheistic. There are so few fellow Christians that will talk about this stuff, and it's a shame-- because it's infinitely rewarding to put yourself in the shoes of the ancients. Awesome video.
btw BYP I sent a message to your youtube inbox awhile back, and I think you may have missed it/forgot about it
Uh oh. Could you send me the email again? I must have missed it. Sorry! I get quite a few of those, and sometimes things do slip past me. Thanks for your patience with me.
The fact that satan's greatest zeal is directed against those who would rise to fully inherit with Christ, through the FULNESS of the gospel, really lends credence to the whole pantheon of the God's tradition. That is truly where his jealousy lies. I f everyone were to simply inherit a portion less than their potential, his purpose would be accomplished.
The Israelites of the Bible were not monotheists, they were henotheists. Henotheism is the belief in multiple elohim (gods) but only worshiped and served One Elohim - Yhvh.
Who is like Thee among the gods (Elim), O Yhvh? Who is like Thee--honourable in holiness--Fearful in praises--doing wonders? (Exodus 15:11)
There is none like Thee among the gods (Elohim), O Lord. And like Thy works there are none. (Psalm 86:8)
Before the gods (Elohim) I do praise Thee (Yhvh). (Psalm 138:1)
Yes, and actually, this is the conclusion which Dr. Michael Heiser has reached as well with his magnificent dissertation on the Council of the Gods in Second Temple JUdaism. If you haven't seen his site and materials on this it is well worth a look. Thanks for your comments.
Yes indeed.
Good point about primeval monotheism.
It was the that their God proves himself above the other gods, and their liberator and protector on the condition they are faithful to Him.
The Greco-romanized "church" makes a semantic game out of monotheism.
