  • Awesome!

  • My goodness. His finger span is huge, and he's already struggling!

I can't imagine how mere mortals like the rest of us would cope with an instrument like this. Looks like a contrabass bansuri?

    Thanks for showing.

  • How did you get the things that are in the middle of each steam out? I can't seem to learn to do that because I have one I'm making by hand.

  • This make me laugh haha....easily the longest flute I've ever seen.

  • @pineapplepeanuts That's what she said!

  • Could be used as a weapon as well. Has a lovely sound. Does anyone have instructions for making a bansuri? I've made flutes out of PVC pipe before which also sound nice (sounds like a bamboo flute).

  • you should have played the with the edge holes as well. what sound does it make?

  • @varunbhuta

clearly you have a 3 meter flute, stuck up your butt my friend...

what purpose is there throwing negative comments at this flutemaker.

it is obvious the entire length of the flute is not used, there are about 8-10 tuning holes below his right hand, which effectively shortens to bore to that point..

    be nice.

  • @tribalwind My apologies to the flutemaker...instead of criticising your work I should have appreciated the innovation...

@tribalwind what do you mean by 8-10 tuning holes below his right hand which effectively shortens to bore to that point???

  • @varunbhuta

    hi,

at about 05:00 - look 12" down from his right hand, there are 2 sets of holes close to one another, on: top ,left, right and bottom .

these appear to me to be tuning holes, the bore-length stops there, you could chop off everything below that and the flute would play the same (nearly)

i also make cultural bamboo flutes... havent made a 3 meter yet! but i found this video because i am now making a 57" flute with 2" inner diameter...it sounds nearly like a didgeridoo !

  • @tribalwind Hi,I dont think the holes at the bottom are tuning holes....

I play an Indian flute and the holes at the bottom of the flute are for playing lower notes and not tuning holes, although generally there are only two holes at the bottom and they are either played by the last finger of the lower hand if the flute is short and for a longer flute it is played by covering it with the knee, thats right with the knee as the person playing is sitting down cross-legged, Indian style...

  • @varunbhuta

i also play and make Bansuri, these are almost certainly tuning holes, as they wrap around all sides of the flute.not just the bottom side...you cannot cover those outside holes with a hand or knee..maybe the bottom one with knee but that would not affect the sound since there are holes on all sides.

let's ask Binaswar to explain ,and settle the matter ;-)

  • that is something..!

  • This flute is almost 3 metres long and was made on experimental basis for an accomplished flutist. It has been very well appreciated by a lot of musicians. But yes, it was very long and not very practical. I put it on youtube to receive reactions. I thank you for your comments.

  • au! poor fingers

  • cool, but weird!

  • that is like a mega huge !

  • nice
