@Fraggr92 i was reading the comments and you guys know you could just do a single stroke roll alternating drums? i think that would be easier to do than doubles and you would get louder, cleaner hits.
@GD717 It's really simple. You do a roll that alternates between the snare and the toms. The form of the roll should be RRLL on the snare, RRLL on the tom (Where R and L represent which hand you use to do the roll). Then you just repeat it three times.
You're back! =] Hey but I've got a question I see you've got coated heads and I do too (mine are g2s though) and when I hit them they kinda sound like you're hitting paper, is there something you can do to make them sound like yours? Plz answer!
@Musefan6732 Hey there! Maybe it's your bottom heads, that they don't give enough resonance? I tuned my top heads pretty low and the bottom a bit higher... I would suggest that you take a bit of time and try different tunings to find your sound and if it doesn't work, you might have to get new heads... Also with microphones everything always sounds better ;P Hope that helps! ~Julz
@jupi90 Do your drums sound better to you when you've got ear plugs or headphones on? Mine sound pretty bad with out any ear protection on, they sound okay with some on. They're quite budget drums, who knows =]
@Patrickdrums6732 Oh yeah definitely! I think it's normal that drums sound better with earplugs or headphones because the bad sounds get blocked out^^ same thing with microphones..
@jupi90 Ah, how much are drum microphones? I was looking at them on a local drum shop website and it was almost $200 for 1 microphone, I hope it was just that website! I don't want to have to resort to triggers because I'm very much against them other then for snares (unless you're playing death metal double bass or something) because snares pretty much sound the same, and if you want to use brushes for a song you kinda need triggers. Like Muse with Soldier's Poem at Wembley =]
@Patrickdrums6732 I totally agree, triggers are not my thing either.. Check this out on amazon com/SHURE-PGDMK6-Piece-Drum-Microphone/dp/B0002BAC9Q.. It's the one I have and it comes with cables and everything included. Hope that helped
@jupi90 The reason I'm kind of against them is it defeats the purpose of acoustic drums, or investing into an expensive kit. You might as well play on cardboard boxes if you're going to triggers your kit! Not trying to "troll" but I kinda do believe that people that use triggers are kinda cheating, but everyone's entitled to their opinion. =]
great cover! don't forget to post a video teaching us that beat you played on the mikesstudents vid! btw, you forgot to send me the pictures of the sheetmusic =P
@jupi90 Thanks! My resos are evans g1s and I've got them tuned really tight for no overtones, I guess I could loosen them until I stop getting papery sound. I've got my g2s pretty loose though, and it probably doesn't help that I've got a cheap crappy kit lol. It's an old Ludwig Rocker (maple inner plies, and poplar outer plies) but hopefully soon I can upgrade to a 100% maple, and I'll probably change to remo. I've been looking into this ddrum Dominion, it's got a 24" bass drum, it's only $899
Amazing

I'm a guitarist but I love watching a good drummer, I imagine it must be a great feeling to beat the crap out of your instrument.

@jupi90 Not to sound stupid, but what do you plug the drum mics into? a bass amp?
Patrickdrums6732 1 year ago
@Patrickdrums6732 I plug them directly into a mixer and connect it to GarageBand
