@branchms Most of the storms here that produce tornados most of the time the tornados stay in the air the wind is mainly what gets bad around here an most of the storms weaken as they come across the mississppi river,, An i wish gas was still 1.65
@meinsla - I look back on those years with a sense of fondness. Those were good years with some good friends. I don't think there is anything wrong with me at all. A place is what you make of it and I made the absolute best of my time at Fort Campbell and Clarksville. Parties at Austin Peay, diving off the rock cliffs into the river down off 41A. Those were really good times. It was also where I learned that real pizza does not exist west of Harrisburg PA.
OMG, this is sooooo classic. I too never thought I would say this but I miss Clarksville and Fort Campbell. I was there from 1985-1988 and while a few things seem vaguely familiar a lot of it is "Wow, when was that work done?" Good times...really good times. The Rock Vegas, The Showdowns, Bel-Aire, Pink Lady. I would love to see the place one last time. Is it true the old barracks for 3-187 are gone?
@JerseyShoreDrummer Wow there is something seriously wrong with you if you actually miss this shit hole. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemies.
The motel at about 4:20, that's where we used to go and party after returning from the field. We'd get 2 adjoining rooms. One was for party, the other for passing out.
freakin a dude. love this video b/c its difficult to explain to people how easy the gate set-up is there. most posts you have to go through a maze. plus yamato's steakhouse rocks!!!! i miss it there, to an extent... lol...
The building by Gate 3, it's an historic building, landmark or whatever. It's got one of those plaques explaining what it was. Used to be a very, very old post office.
Ft. Campbell, Clarksville, Oak Grove area is great for mostly married folks. Lots of GI's retire here. As for singles, not so much. Some like it, most don't.
And people be flying down 41A aka Fort Campbell Blvd. in the morning. Speed limits 45. People be doing 65 and 70.
You're definitely not a dork, chief! thanks for posting this! I was stationed at Ft. Campbell from JAN 02 to APRIL 03, and I see that things haven't changed all that much since, except for the pain in the ass construction they had going when I left. Your video brought me some good memories.... HOOAH!
The spring so far has been one frightening storm after another. I hear the summer is nice but I've only been here since January. I can tell you we are close to Nashville and it's a pretty drive. 1 Hour to get there that's nice.
hey that was cool, i spent two years there in 91-92. a few thing changed. show me the hookers( ch-47). is it wrong to film on post? i would love to see the airfield again.
I was watching soldiers homecomings and this popped up. I am currently living here in Clarksville so this is neat....did you just move here? I noticed you said San Marcus and im guessing Texas...I am from Sherman Texas!
The little building in the median by gate 3 is called the Post House. It was originally a stagecoach stop and post office between Clarksville and Hopkinsville. Up until about 2000 or so it still served as a post office. I have not heard of any plans for it in the future, but it's an historic building which is part of the reason why they build around it. This area has tons of history.
I live here. The weather sucks. Summer is tornado season. Fall gets tornados too. THe base has messed up roads. Other than that, so yeah enjoy.

How is the weather at Fort Campbell? Specifically the Spring and Summer months.
TheGreenSmoke 2 years ago
Well depends where you're coming from.
The spring so far has been one frightening storm after another. I hear the summer is nice but I've only been here since January. I can tell you we are close to Nashville and it's a pretty drive. 1 Hour to get there that's nice.
branchms 2 years ago
I'm from Northern California so I'm not used to the South's weather.
Would you recommend living in a city like Nashville if stationed at Fort Campbell?
TheGreenSmoke 2 years ago
Not really the drive would kill you having to do it everyday.
bigwilly711 2 years ago
youd want to live in clarksville or oak groave man.nashville is too far for an everyday commute.
TIMETODIEBITCH 2 years ago
Humid in the summer.

The main drive has surely changed since the 80's. Alot more stores etc.

No kidding, but I didn't see The Laurel Club or Showdowns.
Shame.
