Hey now this is my vid. Curious where you got it from. I know that I didn't give it to many people. Maybe you could credit me, and give a link to my channel.
i like the verses in daryl's version, but the chorus is just overblown pop, i've always liked them both, but i was into ricki's way before dazza did it, Respect to dazza though because at a concert i went to of his, the pianist also did ricki's intro for gravity, off rickie's 'the magazine', so he's obviously a rickie lover, for me it comes down to the one that'll go the distance, i never get sick of ricky's.....she left the spaces.
Nice to hear the the song as sung by it's writer. RLJ sounds awesome. Daryl's interpretation is completely different, and I absolutely love it! I've also heard him do it live and he sounded fabulous, great voice! It's simply a beautiful song, no sense comparing the versions, they are both great artists!
RLJ was the original, my dad has the original 33 LP of this and Chuckie's etc. She is the fore runner of so many forms of music for today. BY the way I am 40 so shows you how timeless this music is.....
Obviously some Aussies here, because nobody around the world has heard of our Darryl- his band 'Sherbert' were canned internationally. Personally I like both versions- you can't compare this laid back, groovy version to the pop version of Daryl Braithwaite.
Daryl does a good version, his voice is more technically good than RLJ. I like this one better though. My mom used to play this for me when I was a very little boy while I fell asleep and it still means so much to me today. Her voice has a lot of soul in it and I really believe she feels what she's singing.
absolute bullshit... ever heard him sing live (unlike the digital studio crap you seem to be remembering) he had one hit thanks to rickie who could sing circles around that pop tart.... acquire some taste please!
I love Bobby, but I have to say this true Weir, playing great rythmn while adding harmonies to someone else fronting the band. It reminds of him in the old GD
Best thing about RLJ is that she sings as bad on the album as she does live.. It's like Bjork.. What you hear is whats really there, not what some producer wants..
Thanx - one of my all time favourite songs; so much emotion, although this version loses some of the feel. great collaboration with WB, RLJ is simply great!
I love this song...but I enjoy her singing on her album verses live but gift of song is all that matters.

I only just realised that RLJ was the original artist. I'm going to have to agree with gtownrox - Only Daryl Braithwaite does this song justice

You do realise that Rickie wrote and sung this song years before Daryl Braithwaithe, right?
Just wondering, like.

@BWFSabian wow, then you must hate Janis Joplin with a passion~~ not sounding like canned pop is what i like about her.
