OK... I live here in Japan and it cost a good deal of yen ( at least compared to the U.S dollar rate now ). My cousin here has one so I tried it. On his version they have more difficulties than described here; maybe because a newer and WAY better version. They have easy, medium, hard, and super hard for the game I was on... They have very good songs,too.

@danny66442200 I just got it off eBay (Someone had the audacity to put it up with a starting bid of $0.01. I won it for $0.06) it's pretty fun, but the song selection is weak. If you can mod your PS2 via physically messing with the insides or using Magic Keys and Swap Magic, I'd recommend importing/burning copies of the Japanese games.

Taiko Drum Master is amazing! I played it in a Vancouver arcade (The Jap version) and I loved it. Why don't they release a new one with better songs!? AHHHH!

The mask are part of traditional Japanese theater, and there suppose to be demons, and the drums, along with the worm, where in a cartoon series for kids in Japan that taught moral values, like sharing, and caring, etc.. So really this was more of a game for younger Japanese kids, that happened to make it's way state side.

Taiko no Tatsujin for DS is better, you can import and play it very easily :)
