I remember Toto from Animal Planet. He survived this segment, but not much later there was a torrential storm & the last scenes of him showed him drenched & shivering. He was never seen again. Broke my heart! What a cutie; gone. :'(

OK so i looked it up. Toto did survive the bamboo attack but later on there was a storm where toto disappeared. Toto was never seen again after this but Honey, the mother, had 4 cubs, she was then accidently killed by a vet, 3 of her cubs are still alive, all males and full grown.

Toto was my favorite cub on Big Cat Diary. I rooted for him every episode. He went through so much, and made it through every close encounter, and then I found out he died... I was crushed. During the last episode, they say his mom was spotted, but Toto was nowhere to be found. And then at the beginning of the season after this, they reveal that Toto was killed by a hyena. It really makes me sad, but it's life. Like they said, "the odds were stacked against him from the moment he was born"

We don't actually see him die and no one found his body, but it's pretty clear that when they found Honey without him a few days later, that he had died. A small cheetah cub without a mother for protection will easily fall prey to a lion or basically any other animal in Africa.

A vet intended to sedate Honey to work on her cub but they missed, and shot her in the kidney instead of the muscle. They didn't realize their mistake until it was too late, and she died. Sad thing, Honey was one of my favorite cheetahs on the show, second to Amber. I about cried when Simon announced she most likely died off camera.

From what I read about this, the vet sounded like a complete incompetent, not even recognizing when she was acting abnormally after she was darted. It is such a tragedy that a beautiful (and endangered!) animal like Honey should have died because of an idiot human's gross mistake.

Before this magnificant program, i had no idea how hard for a cheetah mother to raise its cub. Why male cheetahs don't participate in raising their cubs? What a strange nature.

After knowing Toto died, I suddenly felt that the most likely cuprits have to be those hyenas and lions. Lions and hyenas are definitely overpopulated in grassland, these are the animals that i don't really care for. In fact.,the most beautiful cats in Africa have to be the leopards and cheetahs. ok im going to set things straight here honey is not dead and if she was she would have died naturally. because its a wildlife park the let nature take its cause. they would not have let a vet help her. they have to let the animals go without help.

I'm afraid Honey is dead. The vet who was suppose to sedate her in order to treat one of her cubs (it was injured)accidentally shot the tranquilizer dart into a wrong part of her body. As a result, she had died. You can read about it on BBC Big Cat website. It was a stupid mistake, as cheetah mother would've just walked some distance and watched the vet treat her cub. It was not neccesary to use tranquiliser on her.

I am so sorry she had to die that way. She was a great, great mother.
