My problem is as quebecer, Is the fact that our hospitals are not fully bilingual and don't offer their paper work in both languages, I accept that Quebec is french, There is a "reverse discrimination" toward the anglophone patients receiving care .
The Quebec city government, Never shows any concern for the retired elderly anglophone, People in their 70-80+ who left the work force before or soon after bill 101was put in place, accommodation needs to be made for them.
higger23, The problem is your are suppose to adapt yourself to the place you live... if u dont want its your problem.Canada is a billingual country or suppose to.But many Billingual province like ontario dont wanna try speak french. If u wanna get serve in restaurant u need to speak in english.they dont even try.
Thats why les Quebecois dont wanna speak mostly or only english in they own province. We need to do progress all around the country. Not even on our side.
the good thing quebec used 2 language or get out in Canada but i am here in quebec,i am just speaking english and little french and my place is speaking only french and some of them are racists because i am filipino
so i want them to adapt 2 language but they are biting there finger at the house
It's sad that racist stupidity exists in some quebecers. I have a question:
If I go to Manilla and insist to speak mostly chinese or Korean, or open a store where I serve only in japanese, how will filipino people react?
Is there racism in the filipines?
I congratulate your learning a little french, even if you speak at least two others. Some people are afraid of those they can't understand, and not all quebecers speak english. Not all quebecers speak french either. Knowing both is better.
i live in canada and i can tell you canada is like a pice of big land and french and english people are still fighting on it and no one cares who are the natives and where are they? the real land owner !white europians are Surrounded by E indians and chinese and arabs and french and english are still fighting on it !!canada mony is England Queen Elizabeth II pic on it not a native mans pic !! canada belOngs tO evry one not England not France !!
No one, neither Francophone or anglophone gives a damn about England or France, The only reason we still have the queen is because were too lazy to have a referendum on going republic, or spend the money needed to scratch her face off our Loonies and twoonies LOL!
Anglophone and Francophone, No longer automatically means white, Most "Metis" those of mixed blood between white and aboriginal are anglo-francophone speakers.
Well said DC...I have been to Quebec..but never gave it a thought since I live here in Western NY State..of course, our state does border the Province...Being an American..I too am not proud of many things that go on in our Country...Most of the world looks up to us..and what do we do??? Many shameful things that makes me sometimes..NOT PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN..Sorry I had to say that but..its TRUE...:(:(
I think you may have missed a solitude...that being the divide between east and west, there are those who want to pidgeon-hole the English side into one camp, I believe it goes even farther than that. As an Easterner I wonder if I even have to remind you of the NEP. It forced many Western Canadians to look deeply at where their true alliegences lie, for me I can tell you that mine are much closer to home than far off Ottawa...simply put: I did not get to vote for my choice...this time.
You have something there. Having never been myself to western Canada (can you see my red face...)I cannot talk about the east-west divide, some of my family (french) moved out west to Alberta and they like it a lot and show no desire whatsoever to move back. the "western" mentality suits them a lot better. I've been living out of Quebec for over 20 years and therefore like to see myself as a "generic" canadian living abroad ;-)
I don't want to fan any flames, part of me wants to be a proud Canadian as I feel you are still. But that being said it took some time for me to realize that there was an unfairness in having my government formed basically out of the 401 corridor, I don't think like a Torontonian or Montrealer. The balance of power is slowly moving west towards Calgary. I haven't made up my mind, but the satus quo isn't good enough, there could be much more to worry about than just Quebec separating. Take care..
I approve ! actually my western experience was a week in Montana and another week in California and I agree that there is a world's difference between the east and west. Montana was the best !
Very good, I am glad that you are able to give an outsider (insider) view on things, Certainly in a perfect Canada what you say is possible. I on the other hand have lived with this question my whole life...frankly at some point even the mild mannered Canadian will say he has had enough, when the separatists say they want to go who am I to say "please stop we will miss you" That is what has been going on for over 30 years. It reminds me of the story of the boy who cried wolf.
Wow man! What kind of drugs were you doing and still do? Faaarr oouuut, man!
