Barbra still is the penultimate female singer of all time. I am sure the previous divas - Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington etc. - all would agree. I say this over and over : I simply hope the younger generation will not let the classic standards fade away. Maybe with access to Amazon and You Tube this music will still be around for many years to come.

@LohengrinT Like others of her talent, their favorite singer is Callas.. there are many similarities. Babs is very very musical... with fabulous instincts. much like Maria.Text is very important to both of them. this is quite beautiful.

I know Babs loves Callas but somehow I find it hard to believe that Callas was her favorite singer. Babs had always the most beautiful voice, I really doubt she could adore someone like Maria with an unpleasant voice. Nevertheless, I too consider Barbra the greatest non-operatic singer of the 20th century as Callas was the greatest Operatic.

I don't find Callas voice the least bit unpleasant, as a matter of fact, I think it is quite beautiful. It was only after 1959 when it became uneasy in the upper register, and her middle becaume muddy. Also I love Streisand( especially early Streisand) but her voice too could become hard and strident. Doesn't take away from either one of them.

Callas' voice was not unpleasant, just a matter of taste. And like all great divas, Babs' voice was truly never universally considered beautiful either.

Yes!! Barbra's back !!! Her voice is back, her acting is back, she's as good as before. Her performance is simply wonderful. I hadn't seen her with so much life and emotions in a long time, it's like she was reborn.

O M G I'm speechless; another amazing performance. This album has multiple Grammy written all over it. Barbra Streisand is still so damn good it's frightening.
