  • you should eat it before it dies since its still fresh :D

  • im just getting a fish tank a normal fish tank. how do i clean it?? without killing them anyway

  • Who'd have thought the death of a crustacean could be THIS melancholic...

  • its a shame their lifespan isn't longer, they're a neat little pet

  • so what males do??? females can produce eggs their own....

  • It's like waving goodbye :"(

  • whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ;(

  • Im so excited, mine just hatched.. But to see them like this, and in the shape of being almost dead makes me actually wanna say: Dont begin with it !!! :(

  • Fuck.

  • So cruel

  • It took me 3 tries to hatch triop.. only to find out that both my adults were rare males...

  • In case your wondering triops sometimes dont even live 2 weeks!! and they are only "meant" to live for around 12 weeks...but sometimes not even 6 weeks..

  • i have a question if a femaela triop lays eggs will they hatch and live or will the bigger ones eat them

  • @dinosaurman1000 the eggs have to be dried and rehydrated before they will hatch

  • :'(

  • save the pets im getting a pakck

  • you cruel git plz save the eggs

  • @hayleybrown1998 Save the eggs? Veringer68 already said that the triops that hatched from the eggs died :/

  • you cruel git

  • THIS IS TOO SAD. I'M ABOUT TO DIE OF DEHYDRATION. BECAUSE ALL MY LIQUIDS ARE COMING OUT THROUGH MY EYES.

  • Why would you take pictures of them dying...!?

    That's just... sick. :((

  • @JustNiamhx3 No. They probably didn't take pictures previously, and wanted to show pictures and have memories before the Triops died.

    Poor things.. <3

  • did she lay the eggs or didnt she have chance? :(

  • @lulu19280

She did and a few days later several eggs hatched but the little ones did not grow old. After 2 days they were dead.

  • well at least she fought death to the bitter end.... good for her

  • @Veringer68 oh ok thanks man

  • How was the water bad and how do you change it because I might try to get triops

  • @JaysizzoLOGE

The nitrit-level was too high. If you want to put Triops into an aquarium you should run the aquarium for at least two weeks without animals, but with a good working filter system so the "good" bacteria can grow. These bacteria lower the nitrite levels so the water will do no harm to fish or triops. In our case, we didn't wait two weeks before putting the triops in the bigger tank.

  • @Veringer68 This isn't quite right. If your tank is cycled (has enough "good" bacteria in the filter) then nitrate isn't the problem. Nitrate is what the bacteria turn dangerous ammonia and nitrite (the waste products of aquatic animals) INTO. The only way to remove nitrate is to do periodic water changes. Also, leaving the filter running in a clean empty tank for two weeks does nothing to start the cycle. Nitrifying bacteria need something to feed on, so you must add ammonia to the tank.

  • @Veringer68 you put them from one thank i a other ?

triops lives in pools if the water lowers down wich is the same as putting them out of the tank for a sec they die its a nature instinct they lay eggs so when in nature the pool fills up with water the new egss can hatch that what ive learned so far :-)

  • Is there a rock in there? if there isnt she died because her shell was squeezing her to death!

  • @jklspongehugger201

No, that was not the reason for her death. We assume that it was caused by poor water quality.

  • So, they DO reproduce? Even if they die, the babies will hatch from the eggs and re-colonize the tank, right? Because I'm thinking of gettting triops other than Sea Monkeys because once you run out of food for the Sea monkeys, they die. But you can still feed Triops apples, carrots, and other things, right?

  • @TsukiRockerBoy

Yes, they reproduce, even without a male. Female Triops produce fertile eggs and bury them in the sand. In our case, a lot of eggs hatched in the tank but they all died within a few days. We don't know why but the water quality still is not good (the reason why the big one died in the first place).

You can buy food for Sea Monkeys in pet shops. But it is not really necessary as they eat algae which grow automatically in the tank after a while.

Triops need a lot of protein.

  • @Veringer68 Okay, so females can be parthenogenetic? That's great, that means I don't have to worry about any breeding. But I don't get it, why didn't that Triops, in the video, bury the eggs?

  • @TsukiRockerBoy Yes, they are. In fact 99% of all triops are female. Male triops are very rare. The female you see in the video had buried eggs before. They bury them every day and produce new eggs in their "egg-pockets" again. I have another video where you can see her burying but I haven't published it yet.
