Haha ya he's savage. He was idiotic enough to take on someone with an education so ended up out of his depth, resorting to making an ass of himself by continuing to insult ganley because it was his only escape route. Well done!
the "ignorance is bliss" tactics used by the yes side are worse , putting there a CEO like a positive symbol, so people will feel empathy with his opinion cause he owns a successful company and follow his 'thinking' ,,,, shameful at the very least...
Wa Wa Wa. thats all i here from the no voters. seriously do all you believe everything you see on a poster. just about every no voter i met hasnt even read the treaty. no voters are so gullibe and give in so easily to scare tactics. if you had any brain cells at all you would see that democracy is still here and its not leaving. EU has dramatically helped us for over 30 years and they will continue to do so.
Whatever way you look at it we have lost more of our independence and our right to rule our own country. We have sold our country for the promise of jobs.
I have no vested interest I am a business owner, a father, and a husband and importantly an IRISHMAN not European
Funny how a report on the travel tax came out today recommending it should be scrapped, anything to do with you Michael? Oh and whats this Michael O'Leary challeged the government today over why they wouldn't sell him Aer Lingus, why ask those question if you said last month you don't want it anymore? Huh? Bet he buys Aer Lingus within the year.
I watched this on television and was embarrassed for Michael O Leary who insists on taunting Ganley as he warns us of the dangers of the yes vote. What is with that? We already said no to the Lisbon treaty. But it is clear democracy is no longer enough for the swine.
wow we won two concessions which i,m sure will be phased out be the time their is a change of govement,495million ppl did,nt even get a say on this and we did, this time the resession was used as a lever to bully us into this sham of a election

I for one would like to welcome our new EU masters and offer my unwavering loyalty to their cause. (You conspiracy theorists are great at voicing your opinions on the web but did you ever stop to think that THEY are watching and know where you live?)
It occurred to me, and made me stop briefly (shame on me). I found that I'd prefer to take my chances. The only thing I fear now is the fear of the unknown, a fear that I might become more fearful. 'There is nothing to fear but fear itself.'
We the people have spoken. Let us now live with the consequences!..Thank you Declan Ganley for bringing us the truth. People were told lies about jobs, recovery. Its going to get worse not better with this yes.
francieszetecs, Why would it get worse. Companies might ACTUALLY come here again now. Ooooh, that's so much woooorse, isn't it?? Intel's boss, Pfizers boss, Quinn Direct's owner all said that we needed a YES but of course you know better...

From Declan Ganley? (a wealthy businessman) Do you think he would be stupid enough to plough millions into this with no return. American fundamentalists are funding this last minute operation by libertas to persuade the Irish people. VOTE YES or we'll be back to square one (1970's Ireland)

Voting yes is not and will never be the answer, why we have to vote again only God can really honestly tell us all, but what can be said our government is a competely and utter shambles
The debate was a wast of time my money is on the yes vote. The Irish want prosperity not recession. yes is the correct answer this time, the no crowed are just kicking there can around to distract people.
man, o leary is full of it. seriously, he resorted to playground teasing, how sad. hes just as much of a capitalist as the rest. save democracy for the love of god.vote no.
Yeah he is such an intellectual. Throwing insults and acting arrogant really backs up his argument. He obviously hasn't read the treaty as he can only quote 2 things from the commission. He is only interested in raising his profile.
I agree with mayeballs. Though we parted with the constitution when we joined the union at the start. The country is being bullied now. O'Leary is not an irish hero. Ganly is very correct and im not a fan. O'Leary does note understand the treaty in my view. He said he read it but did he read the other treaties to which it refers. Not likely. at the end of the day the Cowan adminsitration has failed us dreadfully again. It will be passed no doubt but a result of 51-49 would save Irish dignity
i dont know why my last comment didnt show ???I am delighted too see O Leary proving his ignorance and behaving like what he is , which i cant say since my last coment was not posted...Is it true that Ryanair a company with no unions , is offering free fligts too Irish abroad as long as they vote Yes ...Is this possible?? I know our country is corrupt but is this actually true , Well done Mr Ganley you did not resort too the bully boy tactics and low sniping of O Leary , NO too ratifying Lisbon
ganley, an irish american with deep links to the USA military suddenly returns to Ireland to out spend the major political parties in his support for a no vote. open your eyes, he is being funded by the US government to keep europe weak and divided
O'Leary doesn't care about anyone but O'Leary. He's famous for his attitude towards his customers. If you're lucky you'll get a big pay cut when O'Leary get his thirty pieces of silver for selling out his country.
Let's be honest. Does anyone regard O'Leary as a person who cares for democracy? All he mentioned was himself. He made plenty of money transporting cheap labor to Ireland.
Vote NO. If you vote yes then don't complain about your handywork.
Declan is the man, for me he is up there with they boys from 1916 and those before.
O'Leary knows about the reward coming his way and nothing else, he like the rest are spending far too much time insulting and not pushing out benefits of the actual contents.
Declan and the boys try their best from keeping it childish and continue to inform the Irish people of the real contents.
Well done Declan. The prime time debate was brilliant. Thank you for your insight on the truth in this treaty is great. You have brought a light to the people of Ireland and you will be thanked in the future generations. Keep it up..
What are you on about ? Have a quick rfe through the Reublics consititution and pay special attention to our rules on bringing treaties to this country vote for this Lisbon Treaty and you can forget about ever having the right to vote for a seat in (Ireland
how do u figure that out.......the whole YES side is built on yes for jobs even though there is nothing in the lisbon treaty about jobs.....,the arrogant politician's bullying the people into voting again...where is the democracy in that?
Wow, RTE actually included a No-campaigner in one side of this debate, even though they're not obliged to be fair. Impressive. I'll be paying that TV license very soon.
O leary tried desperately to insult and belittle Ganley but made himself look wanting for any argument at all in his reverie. He knows nothing about the treaty other than bullet points, little soundbytes that the mindless masses should be grovelling at his feet for handed to him by his spin doctors. Vote YES for a RyanAirRepublic.
We are voting No to stay as a nation, and Yes to become just a region under a world goverment, a goverment who don't give a damn about us. At least we can get rid of FF, we wont get rid of the New World Order once it is created. George Orwell was right.
Ganley is no fool, he knows facing an eijit like O'Leary is going to be easy however avoids debate with the likes of Pat Cox who would destroy him because he actually knows the truth about Europe.
Where is this praise coming for this Ganley character and nobody seems to be challenging his motives and source of funding.
Basically, the lisbon treaty vote is a vote for a new constitution on Europe, obviously no country can operate on two seperate constitutions so our 1916 one will be just an ornament, the republic is over if we vote yes. Its a vote to transferr power to the EU structures and courts.
I hope you won't mind me taking your comment with a very liberal pinch of salt, given the glaring error when you suggest that we have a 1916 constitution - A number of the no campaigns are misinformed in suggesting that we have had democracy/independence since 1916 (actually 1922), but this is a step further, in that our constitution is from 1937. When a campaign can make these sort of mistakes, it is hard to take it seriously, I am afraid
Your right its a terrible crime to have an Amercian flag in your office. considering there are millions of Americans who claim Irish ancestry links, thats just being thick. I personal would not compare it to Amercian Extraordinary Rendition Flights landing on Irish soil at Shannon, allowed by our elected politicians even the Greens who used to be opposed to it.
America and Europe are Allies its not who's more powerful.
Declan is Pro EU where citizens say who's there leader at ballot box. NO
I really feel sorry for Michael OLeary, how did he get roped into debating against Declan Ganley? Like a lamb to the slaughter. Declan is so well informed on Lisbon. O Leary knows nothing about Lisbon, only personal jibes at Declan.
Declan Ganley is misleading you all. For example, that quote from d'Estaing that he keeps talking about is taken completely out of context. Either Ganley is lazy and just hasn't bothered to check the article in Le Monde or he has checked it but he's content to twist the truth and mislead people for the sake of getting what he wants.
Ganley is correct,it IS about democracy and how we THE PEOPLE want the EU to be. The Lisbon treaty/constitution turns the EU into a superpower that the majority of decent ,freedom loving Europeans DO NOT WANT !
The leading expert on the Lisbon treaty here in Germany (Prof. Schachtschneider) recently said the following to the Irish Times : « With a NO vote, the Irish have the opportunity to save human dignity in Europe."
Congratulations Declan you won the debate. I voted NO the first time I'm voting NO this time for the milions of europeans who were deprived the last time. If the government get their way we'll be next to lose our right to vote in the future. VOTE NO
In the Lara Marlowe Irish Times interview with Valerie Giscard Destan after the last lisbon vote he confirmed that Ganley & McKenna dishonestly misquoted him by saying that the treaty was worded so that people could not undestand it. Ganley was at it agin in the deate with O'Leary
It has been said that he might want to confess that his main interest in the EU Dictatorship is to get his workers wage down to the minimum rate and that he pre-empted hiked EU water rates by charging customers to pee
Rumour also has it that he's changing his company name from Ryanair to 'LYINGAIR' and is going to VOTE NO but I'd say he's probably lying there too... Leopards don't change their spots
Did you really watch the interview?? Funny using words like WE will stop etc etc Does that reflect another clandestine org?? Read the history of Ireland since joining the EU
O'R soundly trounces Big G here. Awesome! Democracy in Europe is well and truely dead. All major decisions are now taken out of your hands, national & otherwise. Governments will do what they feel they must do, with or without the concent of their constituents, as we so plainly see here. If Ireland were to vote NO, which is highly unlikely with the millions in EU cash backing the YES campaign, they would just set a date for round 3, etc. When will you learn. They won't take no for an answer!
Perhaps you should open you ears and eyes and read the document from the independent commission also the scaremongering is from the no like coir & libertas
What a snake o rielly really is, he should be bycotted.
Ireland Europe and the REAL PEOPLES of these countries have only one chance to retain democracy and freedom and that is to cast a resounding NO VOTE AGAIN TO LIS/CON2,,, IF YES WHATS NEXT WAR IN IRAN
O Leary can always relocate his rynair company for tax reason at the drop of a hat, when tax laws change, which they will. Most individuals cant. This is a big business charter that is going ahead with or without democracy's approval. Do you really think Dell or Intel etc.. are going to stay around here much longer, when they have better cost bases in eastern Europe? Am undecided but dont dare try and insult my intelligence by telling me otherwise. I did not grow up watching TV all the time!!!!!
since we voted yes to the rerun nice treaty , 100,000 manufacturing jobs ! that's real jobs left for the european union , i saw many friends loose their jobs to migrants workers who were brought to here undercut our salaries ! Ryan air employs hundreds of migrant workers !
If Ryanair are so bad for workers why don't they organise? Ryanair treats their workers well, they are worked hard but earn more than aer lingus counterparts.
we arent bankrupt and this is not a vote to leave the eu. why does he try to imply this? o'leary is all about saying we cant do it. beware of that attitude because ireland will go nowhere if it prevails.
Actually we are bankrupt. We're being funded by the ECB. The government has no other source of major revenue. Our GNP has shrunk by 12% which, figuratively speaking is a depression and people are losing jobs left, right, and centre means no or less VAT, PRSI and Stamp Duty.
Irish courage would be voting YES. If we vote NO then we might as well all leave. NOBODY will come here and set up companies. INTEL (from USA) employ 5000. Will YOU (or your party and we all know who that is) give 5000 people jobs?? I think not. BE BRAVE. Vote YES.
eamonreilly - intel and big multi-nationals will only leave if the corporate tax rate has to change. the fact is if u want to be safe u should vote no because article 113 says indirect taxes must be harmonised if they "distort competition" which our rate clearly does. the eu court can rule on this and a veto doesnt even come into play. a veto is only for laws enacted not for eu court rulings which say we much change! o'leary says he is no fan of eu. he wants aer lingus. read between the lines
Get you fact right Ireland have a veto of tax - are you just another conspiracy theory expert?? Just read the commission leaflet or do you not believe the high court judge
lisbon will go ahead after the 2nd oct, regardless if irish people vote yes or no. europe will go ahead without ireland, companies will not invest in ireland if we are not apart of lisbon.
You're absolutely right and that is one of key fears if this treaty isn't past. I'm only a minor but I still want to treaty to be passed. We going to be left behind regarding corporate investment and branded as cowards and stubborn. But what are your views on Abortion and, although it isn't an issue, Nuclear Prohibition?
sorry but the €1 to use the toilets was a publicity stunt . he was told he can NOT charge . it is basic human rights and other rights not to charge when an area is selling food , so that stumped him . if he did this he would have been in massive trouble
commissioners under lisbon is one we can appoint but not select. the president can reject until satisfied with our nomination. the big states will dictate who the president is and we with 0.8% of the vote will have little say in our own commissioner. ganley is right that if lisbon fails they already have agreed the 26 plus one idea where the 27th place is rotated among countries the eu foreign affairs post. no country wants to lose their commissioner. o'leary says it like other countries want it
ryanair is trying to win favour with the commission to get ae lingus. intel appealing fines of 1.5 billion and microsoft applealing fines of 2.5 billion are trying to do some "community" service to reduce the punishment. the tax rate will go. if o'leary really cared about the tax he would say no to be safe. article 113 says indirect taxes must be harmonised "if distorts competitition". this means the eu court can rule on it and we are bound. o'leary does not employ its ryanair that employs him.
is it not also true that the guy who is over this lisbon treaty if it is passed can change any part of the treaty he wants without any interference from anyone.
That's a ridiculous comment. If you don't understand it then definitely vote no. Why abstain from voting on something that will cause change. Is it just me or is the Lisbon Treaty diving the country between the intelligent and informed versus the thick sheep?
If you don't understand it then don't vote! I can't understand people like you. There should seriously be a 10 question multiple choice exam to be taken before anyone can vote and if you don't get a score of at least 80% you shouldn't be let vote.
Politicians should take that exam too. Then they might realise that they should listen to the economists and not the accountants. Think I'll look for a job in China

FrazI1971isBack 2 years ago
Declan is the man, for me he is up there with they boys from 1916 and those before.
O'Leary knows about the reward coming his way and nothing else, he like the rest are spending far too much time insulting and not pushing out benefits of the actual contents.
Declan and the boys try their best from keeping it childish and continue to inform the Irish people of the real contents.
Fair play to all no campaigners.

They are spewing out the same nonsense garble but put it in a way that if its ratified its good thing. Its totally unfair.
They never mention the fact that this treaty has been turned down by other country's before.
We should never have to be asked to vote for something twice. Their is something very wrong with this treaty.

can u please give me any reason or reasons how voting yes to lisbon will take away any freedom, sovereignty or the right to govern ourselves?

mixmastermurf 2 years ago
Basically, the lisbon treaty vote is a vote for a new constitution on Europe, obviously no country can operate on two seperate constitutions so our 1916 one will be just an ornament, the republic is over if we vote yes. Its a vote to transferr power to the EU structures and courts.
mayeballs 2 years ago 5
I hope you won't mind me taking your comment with a very liberal pinch of salt, given the glaring error when you suggest that we have a 1916 constitution - A number of the no campaigns are misinformed in suggesting that we have had democracy/independence since 1916 (actually 1922), but this is a step further, in that our constitution is from 1937. When a campaign can make these sort of mistakes, it is hard to take it seriously, I am afraid

Declan Ganley is pro-American, and anti-European regardless of the outcome of the vote on the Lisbon Treaty.
He does not want Europe to be more powerful than America.
He was caught by a German news channel with an American flag in his office.

Either Ganley is lazy and just hasn't bothered to check the article in Le Monde or he has checked it but he's content to twist the truth and mislead people for the sake of getting what he wants.
robotchrist 2 years ago
Ganley is correct,it IS about democracy and how we THE PEOPLE want the EU to be. The Lisbon treaty/constitution turns the EU into a superpower that the majority of decent ,freedom loving Europeans DO NOT WANT !
The leading expert on the Lisbon treaty here in Germany (Prof. Schachtschneider) recently said the following to the Irish Times : « With a NO vote, the Irish have the opportunity to save human dignity in Europe."
Ireland's own expert Anthony Coughlan agrees.

Governments will do what they feel they must do, with or without the concent of their constituents, as we so plainly see here. If Ireland were to vote NO, which is highly unlikely with the millions in EU cash backing the YES campaign, they would just set a date for round 3, etc. When will you learn. O Leary can always relocate his rynair company for tax reason at the drop of a hat, when tax laws change, which they will. Most individuals cant. This is a big business charter that is going ahead with or without democracy's approval. Do you really think Dell or Intel etc.. are going to stay around here much longer, when they have better cost bases in eastern Europe? we arent bankrupt and this is not a vote to leave the eu. why does he try to imply this? o'leary is all about saying we cant do it. beware of that attitude because ireland will go nowhere if it prevails.
fredbrady 2 years ago 4
Actually we are bankrupt. We're being funded by the ECB. The government has no other source of major revenue. Our GNP has shrunk by 12% which, figuratively speaking is a depression and people are losing jobs left, right, and centre means no or less VAT, PRSI and Stamp Duty.
arosta1 2 years ago
Irish courage would be voting YES. If we vote NO then we might as well all leave. NOBODY will come here and set up companies. INTEL (from USA) employ 5000. Will YOU (or your party and we all know who that is) give 5000 people jobs?? I think not. BE BRAVE. Vote YES.
eamonreillydotcom 2 years ago
eamonreilly - intel and big multi-nationals will only leave if the corporate tax rate has to change. the fact is if u want to be safe u should vote no because article 113 says indirect taxes must be harmonised if they "distort competition" which our rate clearly does. the eu court can rule on this and a veto doesnt even come into play. a veto is only for laws enacted not for eu court rulings which say we much change! o'leary says he is no fan of eu. he wants aer lingus. read between the lines

commissioners under lisbon is one we can appoint but not select. the president can reject until satisfied with our nomination. the big states will dictate who the president is and we with 0.8% of the vote will have little say in our own commissioner. ganley is right that if lisbon fails they already have agreed the 26 plus one idea where the 27th place is rotated among countries the eu foreign affairs post. no country wants to lose their commissioner. o'leary says it like other countries want it
fredbrady 2 years ago 3
ryanair is trying to win favour with the commission to get ae lingus. intel appealing fines of 1.5 billion and microsoft applealing fines of 2.5 billion are trying to do some "community" service to reduce the punishment. the tax rate will go. if o'leary really cared about the tax he would say no to be safe. article 113 says indirect taxes must be harmonised "if distorts competitition". this means the eu court can rule on it and we are bound. o'leary does not employ its ryanair that employs him.
