  • O'Leary is a wanker.

  • Europe = bad

  • how many jobs did lisbon 2 deliver?

  • Ganley tried so hard to save Ireland from being taken over by the EU. It is a shame that people didn't listen to him.

  • God Ganley wiped the floor with O'Leary in this debate, O'Leary never even researched it properly!! All he could do was resort to personal attacks.

  • Comment removed

  • Miriam O Callaghan is a really poor interview. She sounds like a southside teenager. At least the BBC have decent standards.

  • Michael O'Leary you are a legend!

  • Haha ya he's savage. He was idiotic enough to take on someone with an education so ended up out of his depth, resorting to making an ass of himself by continuing to insult ganley because it was his only escape route. Well done!

  • @radix0935 how????

  • TRUE

  • The scaremongering tactics that were used by the no side were ridiculous.

  • the "ignorance is bliss" tactics used by the yes side are worse , putting there a CEO like a positive symbol, so people will feel empathy with his opinion cause he owns a successful company and follow his 'thinking' ,,,, shameful at the very least...

  • Wow, those were all really good reasons to vote Yes!

    Well done.

    Democracy get!

  • Wa Wa Wa. thats all i here from the no voters. seriously do all you believe everything you see on a poster. just about every no voter i met hasnt even read the treaty. no voters are so gullibe and give in so easily to scare tactics. if you had any brain cells at all you would see that democracy is still here and its not leaving. EU has dramatically helped us for over 30 years and they will continue to do so.

  • Whatever way you look at it we have lost more of our independence and our right to rule our own country. We have sold our country for the promise of jobs.

I have no vested interest I am a business owner, a father, and a husband and importantly an IRISHMAN not European

  • Funny how a report on the travel tax came out today recommending it should be scrapped, anything to do with you Michael? Oh and whats this Michael O'Leary challeged the government today over why they wouldn't sell him Aer Lingus, why ask those question if you said last month you don't want it anymore? Huh? Bet he buys Aer Lingus within the year.

  • Well that was a one-sided debate...

M O'L got well and truly owned and had to resort to personal snide remarks---> Hilarious!

  • Ah well. Sorry Micheal Collins, De Valera, Bobby Sands and everyone I respect for dying for me and left words of wisdom and warning for me.

You just cant keep the truth out with all this nazi propaganda.

  • We already voted no. But it is clear democracy is no longer enough for the swine.

  • I watched this on television and was embarrassed for Michael O Leary who insists on taunting Ganley as he warns us of the dangers of the yes vote. What is with that? We already said no to the Lisbon treaty. But it is clear democracy is no longer enough for the swine.

  • wow we won two concessions which i,m sure will be phased out be the time their is a change of govement,495million ppl did,nt even get a say on this and we did, this time the resession was used as a lever to bully us into this sham of a election

  • Aer Lingus were going to announce 500 job cuts last Thursday, but were "asked" not to do it till Saturday after everybody voted, and they did.

So because it was voted in, does that mean the no side can bitch and moan to get another vote ?

  • Its the economy stupid well done to Ireland for putting the National Interest ahead of that of Sinn Fein or Declan Ganley who really knows what Ganley stands for I am mystified as to what truly motivates this man

  • So true!!! Well done ireland

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks Declan Ganley, but we lost today. We all lost, even the yes voters.

  • What'd we lose VivaLaPol??? Come on, WHAT exactly did we LOSE??? I want a list of one to ten and it better make sense.

  • I for one would like to welcome our new EU masters and offer my unwavering loyalty to their cause. (You conspiracy theorists are great at voicing your opinions on the web but did you ever stop to think that THEY are watching and know where you live?)

  • It occurred to me, and made me stop briefly (shame on me). I found that I'd prefer to take my chances. The only thing I fear now is the fear of the unknown, a fear that I might become more fearful. 'There is nothing to fear but fear itself.'

  • sickining...its official. democracy is dead. Ireland is dead.

  • paddymourinho, HOW is democracy dead?? 67%. THAT IS democracy. How is Ireland dead. Pull your head out of your arse.

  • Ireland sold itself, pure and simple! No, the referendum was Ireland's last taste of democracy...

  • The original vote was reversed after the Irish people were threatened and coerced, if you believ that to be democracy then I feel sorry for you.

  • We the people have spoken. Let us now live with the consequences!..Thank you Declan Ganley for bringing us the truth. People were told lies about jobs, recovery. Its going to get worse not better with this yes.

  • francieszetecs, Why would it get worse. Companies might ACTUALLY come here again now. Ooooh, that's so much woooorse, isn't it?? Intel's boss, Pfizers boss, Quinn Direct's owner all said that we needed a YES but of course you know better...

  • GO MICHAEL! Man and a half!

  • Ganley had very weak debating points

  • Ganley had nothing - I'm surprsied how bad his points were

  • If a no vote is passed im leaving the country the first chance I get.

  • A yes vote would be a vote for a fascist European state!

  • I'm with Declan Ganley, VOTE NO!

  • i just voted no happy now

  • Save Ireland. Vote NO

  • typical o leary, last time i saw him debating he was telling some guy he was just a failed pilot, now ganleys a failed politican ha, o leary stinks of self greed, cast my NO vote an hour ago....again

  • VOTE NO

    VOTE NO

    VOTE NO

    VOTE NO

  • NO vote = we are still in the EU, like we are now, and the EU must be more accountable to the people of Europe. It stops the runaway power of the EU parliament and its gravy train expenses.

YES vote = no way back, we can't undo mistakes made in the treaty or the EU, our say in EU is halved. Some countries say is doubled.

The mature thing is to stand up and tell EU to correct the problems, not to give in to the accusing tut-tutting of EU politicians trying to tell us we should be embarrassed.

  • YES, we can.

  • imvoting yes , but o'leary is poison, i dont think much moreof ganley either

  • i dont trust either of these people.

  • Vote Yo! ...or flip a coin.

  • O' Leary is taking some cheap shots here!

    Please vote No!

  • Here in Germany we are protected from large bits of the Lisbon Treaty/Constitution....you are not !

Voting YES will not bring you any gain and voting NO will bring you no loss.

"Germany's Constitutional Court forced the government to approve new laws to repair the damage the Treaty did to national democracy. Since the Irish have not taken similar measures, the Irish people should vote NO to the Treaty on democratic grounds" (Prof.Murswiek,University of Freiburg).

  • I'm with the Irish. Vote no on October 2nd.

  • "Look my campaign for a Yes vote...aah..one of the reasons that I am campaigning for a Yes vote is that our government is incompetent, yet I need to persude them to sell me Aer Lingus"

    - Michael O'Leary 28/08/09

Clearly stating his intentions. ..Vote No

  • o leary who doesn't recognise trade unions thinks its good for workers um ........and also couldn't give one reason to vote yes at least declan had some good points for the no vote without the need for sly digs

  • YES FOR EUROPE

    YES FOR IRELAND

  • Please approve RTE

    P.S. i'm only 17

  • In the area I live in No posters out number Yes posters by at least 4 to 1. These no posters have libertas written on them. Where has the funding come from to put up these posters? From Declan Ganley? (a wealthy businessman) Do you think he would be stupid enough to plough millions into this with no return. American fundamentalists are funding this last minute operation by libertas to persuade the Irish people. VOTE YES or we'll be back to square one (1970's Ireland)

  • YEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!!!

  • o leary is a terrible debater he keeps taking digs at declan which is childlish.vito...vito..vito like wtf lol

    NO to Lisbon

  • The game is already over...according to Paddy Power Bookmakers (who usually call results correctly). If you're a No voter, you can walk into Paddy Power Bookmakers this morning and get odds of 8/1 on a 'No' outcome. The odds of a 'Yes' vote are a slender 1/25.

  • Voting yes is not and will never be the answer, why we have to vote again only God can really honestly tell us all, but what can be said our government is a competely and utter shambles

    Vote No

    aidan

  • The debate was a wast of time my money is on the yes vote. The Irish want prosperity not recession. yes is the correct answer this time, the no crowed are just kicking there can around to distract people.

  • man, o leary is full of it. seriously, he resorted to playground teasing, how sad. hes just as much of a capitalist as the rest. save democracy for the love of god.vote no.

  • I think Dana should be the commissioner!

  • Vote No.

  • VOTE NO

O leary is such a nob, look at him acting like a child.

  • go michael!!!! :)

    VOTE YES

  • Yeah he is such an intellectual. Throwing insults and acting arrogant really backs up his argument. He obviously hasn't read the treaty as he can only quote 2 things from the commission. He is only interested in raising his profile.

  • go declan...

  • @actonfarrell Bring ganley back

  • Thanks for putting the video up RTE. It's just a pity that the comments are so heavily censored. A one sided follow on from the show!

Vote NO for a more democratic accountable Europe.

  • What is going to stop jobs and business from leaving Ireland and going outside the Eurozone,i.e, Poland or Romania?

  • Poland and Romania are obliged to join the Eurozone as are most of the new states

  • I agree with mayeballs. Though we parted with the constitution when we joined the union at the start. The country is being bullied now. O'Leary is not an irish hero. Ganly is very correct and im not a fan. O'Leary does note understand the treaty in my view. He said he read it but did he read the other treaties to which it refers. Not likely. at the end of the day the Cowan adminsitration has failed us dreadfully again. It will be passed no doubt but a result of 51-49 would save Irish dignity

  • i dont know why my last comment didnt show ???I am delighted too see O Leary proving his ignorance and behaving like what he is , which i cant say since my last coment was not posted...Is it true that Ryanair a company with no unions , is offering free fligts too Irish abroad as long as they vote Yes ...Is this possible?? I know our country is corrupt but is this actually true , Well done Mr Ganley you did not resort too the bully boy tactics and low sniping of O Leary , NO too ratifying Lisbon

  • ganley, an irish american with deep links to the USA military suddenly returns to Ireland to out spend the major political parties in his support for a no vote. open your eyes, he is being funded by the US government to keep europe weak and divided

  • If you work for Aer Lingus vote NO.

O'Leary doesn't care about anyone but O'Leary. He's famous for his attitude towards his customers. If you're lucky you'll get a big pay cut when O'Leary get his thirty pieces of silver for selling out his country.

Let's be honest. Does anyone regard O'Leary as a person who cares for democracy? All he mentioned was himself. He made plenty of money transporting cheap labor to Ireland.

Vote NO. If you vote yes then don't complain about your handywork.

  • Declan is the man, for me he is up there with they boys from 1916 and those before.

O'Leary knows about the reward coming his way and nothing else, he like the rest are spending far too much time insulting and not pushing out benefits of the actual contents.

Declan and the boys try their best from keeping it childish and continue to inform the Irish people of the real contents.

Fair play to all no campaigners.

No to Lisbon 1 means No to Lisbon 2

The treaty is still the exact same.

  • No to Cowen, No to Fianna Fáil, No to Lisbon!

  • vote yes to save the rare killarney chimpanzee.

this creature has been hunted for its tender meat.

the lisbon treaty will enhance wildlfe protection laws for this animal increasing tourism to the area

  • Nice one. The most plausible reason for voting yes. Save the Killarney chimpanzee.

  • haha! It wouldn't be jacky healy rae by any chance would it?! If so, I'm voting no!

  • Michael O'Leary is a hero and i'll respect any man that speaks his mind and also that puts down that bluffer Ganley

  • Well done Declan. The prime time debate was brilliant. Thank you for your insight on the truth in this treaty is great. You have brought a light to the people of Ireland and you will be thanked in the future generations. Keep it up..

  • ganley was OWNED.

  • What are you on about ? Have a quick rfe through the Reublics consititution and pay special attention to our rules on bringing treaties to this country vote for this Lisbon Treaty and you can forget about ever having the right to vote for a seat in (Ireland

  • how do u figure that out.......the whole YES side is built on yes for jobs even though there is nothing in the lisbon treaty about jobs.....,the arrogant politician's bullying the people into voting again...where is the democracy in that?

  • How can you not relate Lisbon to jobs?

    Lisbon = Europe

    Europe bankrolls our bankrupt country.

    Lisbon = Jobs?

  • Swine flu is joke flu!

  • It is not a joke. A lot of people have died from it.

  • Wow, RTE actually included a No-campaigner in one side of this debate, even though they're not obliged to be fair. Impressive. I'll be paying that TV license very soon.

  • O leary tried desperately to insult and belittle Ganley but made himself look wanting for any argument at all in his reverie. He knows nothing about the treaty other than bullet points, little soundbytes that the mindless masses should be grovelling at his feet for handed to him by his spin doctors. Vote YES for a RyanAirRepublic.

    Me,

    I'm voting NO.

    Again.

  • VOTE NO SHEEPLE

  • vote no or give your power to the elite, remember 9/11,that was the elite

  • Nobody wants Eurovision 2 "Ireland Nil Points" with a voting system that will be so geographically biased. Vote NO !

  • Can't O'Leary realize that all the tax concessions and financial bailouts etc that the EU are promsing Ireland are just bait in the trap!?

  • Where's the debate of where Pat Cox beats Mary Lou on the Lisbon debate just before Ganley and O'Leary.

  • We are voting No to stay as a nation, and Yes to become just a region under a world goverment, a goverment who don't give a damn about us. At least we can get rid of FF, we wont get rid of the New World Order once it is created. George Orwell was right.

  • Take a look at the referendum commissions web site. They are supposed to be unbiased and give clear details on what your voting for.

They are spewing out the same nonsense garble but put it in a way that if its ratified its good thing. Its totally unfair.

They never mention the fact that this treaty has been turned down by other country's before.

We should never have to be asked to vote for something twice. Their is something very wrong with this treaty.

    I am voting NO.

  • I don't like O'Leary, hes just like my ex boss, same as most bosses only interested in profit, not the workers.

Dick Roche says a yes vote is the start to recovery. Dick has been sitting around doing nothing waiting for a yes vote?

Dick, we are paying you and you should have started a recovery as soon as we found ourselves in a crisis!

Their is far to much going on and you cant vote yes for something you don't know about. The Lisbon treaty was not draw up to end our crisis.

    VOTE NO.

  • o'leary is so funi wen he wants to be

P.S. no1 cares bout ur politcal views on utube jus vote and stop tryin to convince ppl.. leave it to the pros

  • O'Leary is such a hypocrit, it's sad that we need an American to come over and show the Irish people the real truth!!

    VOTE NO! ! !

  • Ganley is no fool, he knows facing an eijit like O'Leary is going to be easy however avoids debate with the likes of Pat Cox who would destroy him because he actually knows the truth about Europe.

Where is this praise coming for this Ganley character and nobody seems to be challenging his motives and source of funding.

  • Pat cox is a European political lobbist who has an open cheque book for this campaign, rte not bothered.

EU tax payers who's funding it.

Not one Volunteer on yes side.

Its very easy to fund campaign when you have thousands of volunteers on the No side, funding not an issue.

running Vote again and yes side expenses, I recon C. 50Million Euro. The No Side C. 2 Million, educated guess.

Pat Cox wouldnt be fit to tie declans shoes. cant fool all the people all time.

    NO

  • can u please give me any reason or reasons how voting yes to lisbon will take away any freedom, sovereignty or the right to govern ourselves?

    and be specific.

  • Basically, the lisbon treaty vote is a vote for a new constitution on Europe, obviously no country can operate on two seperate constitutions so our 1916 one will be just an ornament, the republic is over if we vote yes. Its a vote to transferr power to the EU structures and courts.

  • I hope you won't mind me taking your comment with a very liberal pinch of salt, given the glaring error when you suggest that we have a 1916 constitution - A number of the no campaigns are misinformed in suggesting that we have had democracy/independence since 1916 (actually 1922), but this is a step further, in that our constitution is from 1937. When a campaign can make these sort of mistakes, it is hard to take it seriously, I am afraid

  • Can you please tell me how voting yes will bring jobs?

    Be specific!

  • o leary is a joke......VOTE NO!SAVE DEMOCRACY!

  • vote no, we already voted, we can get no again

    VOTE NO

  • Declan Ganley is pro-American, and anti-European regardless of the outcome of the vote on the Lisbon Treaty.

He does not want Europe to be more powerful than America.

He was caught by a German news channel with an American flag in his office.

  • Your right its a terrible crime to have an Amercian flag in your office. considering there are millions of Americans who claim Irish ancestry links, thats just being thick. I personal would not compare it to Amercian Extraordinary Rendition Flights landing on Irish soil at Shannon, allowed by our elected politicians even the Greens who used to be opposed to it.

America and Europe are Allies its not who's more powerful.

Declan is Pro EU where citizens say who's there leader at ballot box. NO

  • ganley for taoiseach

  • I really feel sorry for Michael OLeary, how did he get roped into debating against Declan Ganley? Like a lamb to the slaughter. Declan is so well informed on Lisbon. O Leary knows nothing about Lisbon, only personal jibes at Declan.

  • ec law is presently supreme over Irish law. thats not at issue here

  • An entire generation had to fight like lions for freedom, sovereignty and the right to govern ourselves!

Dont throw it away!! VOTE NO to the power grab!!

Dont believe the lies and hype!!!

  • Ganley clearly knows his stuff, O'Leary is just a hypocrite with business interests at heart

  • Agreed.

  • vote no, no, no please,

  • Declan Ganley is misleading you all. For example, that quote from d'Estaing that he keeps talking about is taken completely out of context. Either Ganley is lazy and just hasn't bothered to check the article in Le Monde or he has checked it but he's content to twist the truth and mislead people for the sake of getting what he wants.

  • Ganley is correct,it IS about democracy and how we THE PEOPLE want the EU to be. The Lisbon treaty/constitution turns the EU into a superpower that the majority of decent ,freedom loving Europeans DO NOT WANT !

The leading expert on the Lisbon treaty here in Germany (Prof. Schachtschneider) recently said the following to the Irish Times : « With a NO vote, the Irish have the opportunity to save human dignity in Europe."

Ireland's own expert Anthony Coughlan agrees.

    PLEASE vote NO again !

  • as michael o leary said "Ganley is a failed politition" FACT ....Vote Yes

  • Congratulations Declan you won the debate. I voted NO the first time I'm voting NO this time for the milions of europeans who were deprived the last time. If the government get their way we'll be next to lose our right to vote in the future. VOTE NO

  • In the Lara Marlowe Irish Times interview with Valerie Giscard Destan after the last lisbon vote he confirmed that Ganley & McKenna dishonestly misquoted him by saying that the treaty was worded so that people could not undestand it. Ganley was at it agin in the deate with O'Leary

  • They will not foooorce us, we will be viiiiiiiiictooooooorious!

  • Declan Ganley gets his money from the American security system. Wonder why he is arguing no??

    VOTE YES.

  • Don't vote at all. Waste of time.

  • o leary was embarrasing, same rethoric mud slinging at gangley. o leary has sold his soul to the eu in the hope his airline benefits from eu,

  • Did you hear the latest !!!

Michael O'Leary is supposed to coming clean.....

It has been said that he might want to confess that his main interest in the EU Dictatorship is to get his workers wage down to the minimum rate and that he pre-empted hiked EU water rates by charging customers to pee

Rumour also has it that he's changing his company name from Ryanair to 'LYINGAIR' and is going to VOTE NO but I'd say he's probably lying there too... Leopards don't change their spots

  • No !

  • Man Declan took that rookie to school! Anyone willing to step up after Michael? Didnt think so.

Back in 1912 the Magnificent Titanic sank in the Atlantic Ocean after colliding into an Iceberg,

In 2009 Ireland is the Iceberg in the Atlantic and we will stop the EU anti-democratic dictatorship Juggernaut.

As history testifies never underestimate the Irish strength and courage in times of adversity.

  • If you think this, I think maybe someone should have taken you to school.

  • Did you really watch the interview?? Funny using words like WE will stop etc etc Does that reflect another clandestine org?? Read the history of Ireland since joining the EU

  • O'R soundly trounces Big G here. Awesome! Democracy in Europe is well and truely dead. All major decisions are now taken out of your hands, national & otherwise. Governments will do what they feel they must do, with or without the concent of their constituents, as we so plainly see here. If Ireland were to vote NO, which is highly unlikely with the millions in EU cash backing the YES campaign, they would just set a date for round 3, etc. When will you learn. They won't take no for an answer!

  • 7.35 epic win from o'leary. you could tell he was waiting for that one. GENIUS!!

  • you cant be serious, i was cringing every time O'leary started the failed politician tirade, really pathetic stuff from O'Leary

  • I'm surprised you have the intelligence to use a computer after that comment. O'Leary made a show of himself.

  • O'Leary was an absolute joke. Just pure & utterly useless. The Yes side have not offered one good reason to vote Yes for this Treaty at all.

  • neither the yes side nor the no side can quote the treaty to back up their statements

  • Perhaps you should open you ears and eyes and read the document from the independent commission also the scaremongering is from the no like coir & libertas

  • What a snake o rielly really is, he should be bycotted.

Ireland Europe and the REAL PEOPLES of these countries have only one chance to retain democracy and freedom and that is to cast a resounding NO VOTE AGAIN TO LIS/CON2,,, IF YES WHATS NEXT WAR IN IRAN

  • Snake?! The bloke employs thousands of peoples and exports brand 'Ireland' around Europe.

You just need to look at Iceland to see hoe being part of europe benefits the country.

Make a positive choice for the future. VOTE YES.

  • he exports the brand ireland im afraid u havent a clue!! how many of his employees are irish

  • YOU ARE ON CLOUD 9

WE ARE NOT VOTING ON EUROPE WE ARE VOTING ON A TOTALITARIAN TREATY, AND THE VOTE WILL BE NO

everyone on the yes side make it sound like we are voting to join europe dahhhhhhhhhh we are in EUROPE SO FOR A DEMOCRATIC ONE VOTE NO TO LIS/CON 2

  • You're stuck in double think...

On your profile you say "I belive my country will be independent from London rule within 5 years...."

and then you tell people of Ireland to vote away their independence and freedom and hand it over to the unelected EU?

    VOTE NO!!

  • im sayin no i dont want tanks rolling over my family

  • lol

  • How stupid can you be if you believe that. Do you not know about the triple lock. You should check the fact before making comments like that

  • Are you serious??? That is the most ridiculous reason for voting no.

  • O Leary can always relocate his rynair company for tax reason at the drop of a hat, when tax laws change, which they will. Most individuals cant. This is a big business charter that is going ahead with or without democracy's approval. Do you really think Dell or Intel etc.. are going to stay around here much longer, when they have better cost bases in eastern Europe? Am undecided but dont dare try and insult my intelligence by telling me otherwise. I did not grow up watching TV all the time!!!!!

  • since we voted yes to the rerun nice treaty , 100,000 manufacturing jobs ! that's real jobs left for the european union , i saw many friends loose their jobs to migrants workers who were brought to here undercut our salaries ! Ryan air employs hundreds of migrant workers !

Whats good for ryan air is bad for workers !

  • If Ryanair are so bad for workers why don't they organise? Ryanair treats their workers well, they are worked hard but earn more than aer lingus counterparts.

  • this is not true

  • we arent bankrupt and this is not a vote to leave the eu. why does he try to imply this? o'leary is all about saying we cant do it. beware of that attitude because ireland will go nowhere if it prevails.

  • Actually we are bankrupt. We're being funded by the ECB. The government has no other source of major revenue. Our GNP has shrunk by 12% which, figuratively speaking is a depression and people are losing jobs left, right, and centre means no or less VAT, PRSI and Stamp Duty.

  • Irish courage would be voting YES. If we vote NO then we might as well all leave. NOBODY will come here and set up companies. INTEL (from USA) employ 5000. Will YOU (or your party and we all know who that is) give 5000 people jobs?? I think not. BE BRAVE. Vote YES.

  • eamonreilly - intel and big multi-nationals will only leave if the corporate tax rate has to change. the fact is if u want to be safe u should vote no because article 113 says indirect taxes must be harmonised if they "distort competition" which our rate clearly does. the eu court can rule on this and a veto doesnt even come into play. a veto is only for laws enacted not for eu court rulings which say we much change! o'leary says he is no fan of eu. he wants aer lingus. read between the lines

  • Get you fact right Ireland have a veto of tax - are you just another conspiracy theory expert?? Just read the commission leaflet or do you not believe the high court judge

  • lisbon will go ahead after the 2nd oct, regardless if irish people vote yes or no. europe will go ahead without ireland, companies will not invest in ireland if we are not apart of lisbon.

  • You're absolutely right and that is one of key fears if this treaty isn't past. I'm only a minor but I still want to treaty to be passed. We going to be left behind regarding corporate investment and branded as cowards and stubborn. But what are your views on Abortion and, although it isn't an issue, Nuclear Prohibition?

  • i am on the "yes " side, but o leary was a disgrace in that debate, dont think miriam was impressed with him.

  • vote yes to save ireland we need the e.u

  • sorry but the €1 to use the toilets was a publicity stunt . he was told he can NOT charge . it is basic human rights and other rights not to charge when an area is selling food , so that stumped him . if he did this he would have been in massive trouble

  • commissioners under lisbon is one we can appoint but not select. the president can reject until satisfied with our nomination. the big states will dictate who the president is and we with 0.8% of the vote will have little say in our own commissioner. ganley is right that if lisbon fails they already have agreed the 26 plus one idea where the 27th place is rotated among countries the eu foreign affairs post. no country wants to lose their commissioner. o'leary says it like other countries want it

  • ryanair is trying to win favour with the commission to get ae lingus. intel appealing fines of 1.5 billion and microsoft applealing fines of 2.5 billion are trying to do some "community" service to reduce the punishment. the tax rate will go. if o'leary really cared about the tax he would say no to be safe. article 113 says indirect taxes must be harmonised "if distorts competitition". this means the eu court can rule on it and we are bound. o'leary does not employ its ryanair that employs him.

  • is it not also true that the guy who is over this lisbon treaty if it is passed can change any part of the treaty he wants without any interference from anyone.

  • This was must see tv. I am a no voter simply because I honestly don't understand it.

  • If you don't understand it DON'T VOTE AT ALL. Don't vote NO just because you don't understand it.

  • HOW STUPID ARE YOU TELLING PEOPLE NOT TO VOTE ?

the only way forward for Ireland and Europe is a NO VOTE TO LISBON2, NO TO

BIG CON/BANKERS , BIG CON/BUSINESS CON/POLITICIANS WE ARE SICK OF THEM.

Money grabbers like o rielly are what have this great country RUINED.

  • CAPS LOCK = CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL

  • That's a ridiculous comment. If you don't understand it then definitely vote no. Why abstain from voting on something that will cause change. Is it just me or is the Lisbon Treaty diving the country between the intelligent and informed versus the thick sheep?

  • If you don't understand it then don't vote! I can't understand people like you. There should seriously be a 10 question multiple choice exam to be taken before anyone can vote and if you don't get a score of at least 80% you shouldn't be let vote.

  • Politicians should take that exam too. Then they might realise that they should listen to the economists and not the accountants. Think I'll look for a job in China

  • Vote NO to this anti-democracy.
