I'm in polygamy. It would be easier if women in this area were less jealous and could share homes and families and work. Jealousy is practically revered among Arab women, from what I can tell.

Polygamy makes economic sense. No need for day care --- all teh adults can still work, but raise large families as well. Look how hard it is today for a young couple to get established -- many are not financially secure until their mid-30s. Polygamy would allow people to live in a more communal, shared-responsibility, environment. As for the men without wives, look how many men have no desire to settle down nowadays. Don't punish women with forced monogamy.

This type of polygamy I see no problem with. It's the ones on the compound that have arranged marriages with underage 14/15/16 year old girls. That's not right. But if this works for them and they all entered it willingly as consenting ADULTS, then why not? Live and let live.

I'm trying to figure out how a man financially supports 21 children. Donald Trump is wealthy, and he only has five. My ex-husband has me helping him support his children from a previous marriage. I just don't see how the numbers work out without some welfare fraud. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I have a problem with people having children they can't financially support.

I have no problem with people living how they choose as long as the rest of us don't have to pick up the tab and children aren't being exploited. I have a poly family in my neighborhood. The three adults work; the children go to school and are normal kids. They aren't working to financially support a family they had no say in creating. There are six kids in that house - not 21. I am not ignorant, and there's nothing wrong with being skeptical.

I know of plenty of people who commit welfare fraud, sell drugs, behave violently, and pimp out their children who live in the HOLY SUBURBS. I am affiliated with law enforcement. Child abuse and exploitation can and do occur anywhere. You are very, very prejudiced if you think crime ONLY occurs outside the burbs.

Now, if someone in the family comes from wealth and they're living off inheritance, that's fine too. I have seen men who aren't even polys have more children than they can support, and they don't care. The mothers and children are left to struggle and are sometimes forced to break the law just to have food to eat. If I were wealthy, I would love to have more children. As it it, I have the two I can afford. No one else has to pay for my decisions. Not you, not my neighbors, not other taxpayers.

We seem to have gotten off on the wrong foot. I never said that all polygamists w/lots of children are broke, and I don't believe that to be the case. I grew up in a rural area where I saw children from very large families do without food, shoes, school supplies, etc. I saw that with my own eyes. That statement is not meant to offend anyone, nor is it an assumption that all large families are poor. It's a concern that I have because of where I grew up.

I do believe in the Freedom of Religion. I believe polygamy should be decriminalized. Prison should be a place for people who commit crimes - serious crimes. I don't think Social Services should've been a part of the investigation in Texas. If a crime is suspected, the police should investigate. The person under suspicion should be afforded due process, i.e. allowed to face his/her accuser, provided an attorney if one cannot be afforded, privy to evidence, etc.
