i own a mac and a PC mac has its flaws and windows has its flaws, but in the end mac wins... but windows comes in a very close second because their computers are so inexpensive and are much more of a work machine while macs are more of a toy.

@Ticomfreak Just butting in here but Mac's cost so much because they're built for quality and to last long. I had a iMac since 2007 and I've had 4 PCs break since then and the iMac very loved and it doesn't have its front plate glass but it still runs like a dream. BTW just to show I don't hate PCs I have a custom server running Windows Server 2008 R2 to run my PXE boot server :)

@2040Tech All commercial computer manufactures (including apple) use the SAME parts made in Foxconn (China) and they all are rated to last the same amount of time as a Dell, HP, Compaq, Samsung, Viao (Sony), or any other non-custom built Windows machine.

@Ticomfreak What does that have to do with the materials they use? Apple puts in order requests to Foxconn (BTW its Taiwan not China) for Aluminum computers. The company that makes the computers (Foxconn) has nothing todo with the orders placed by the designer company (Apple). All the companies orders are different or else all the computers would look and be the same!

It runs just as well as ever, though it's about time for an upgrade simply because software demands have increased... and top of the line hardware wasn't used in the first place. I know many people who's Mac experience is pretty identical to your PC experience. Mac's cost so much because of the name and 'prestige' of owning a mac. It's a status thing. Like if you go buy a nike shirt for $50, or the same quality shirt for $5. you're paying for a brand.

The term PC was given to the specific IBM computer line back in the 70's-80's that delineates between IBM business computers and the newer line of IBM personal computers.. Since Amiga, Atari, Mac, Commodore 64. etc.. did not have different lines of computers (for business and personal) there was no need to add the term "PC" to their name.
