I hope CHAPTERS NEVER takes off the front sign of that store...As far as Im concerned, that building is a historical landmark. This is why Toronto is such a great place to film a movie.
Proof that technology is moving backwards...He had only 512 Megabytes of memory when most of our "modern" day computers have 4-8 GIGABYTES and they still can't do the things that he does!! Where are all the flying cars?! LOL
When the first scene opened I though "that looks like the BMO tower in Toronto" then I saw the World's Biggest Bookstore and I knew... it IS Toronto!... way back when I was just born
The movie was shot in Toronto. The World's Largest Bookstore actually exists. It's on Edward St, one block off Yonge St. in the heart of downtown. I've been there many, many times. It's always a "must" whenever I visit T.O.
Notice the significance of the two bo0ks he finds most interesting -- 'Pinnochio' and 'Frankenstein'. Both Pinnochio and Frankenstein's "monster" ("monster" being a subjective term since Victor himself is often portrayed as being more monstrous in spirit than his creation, much like Herbert West) are Post-humyn (or trans-humyn or proto-humyn or whathaveyou) Autonomous Lifeforms just like Johnny.
I think Wall-E was great, and pretty awesome animation. But I will always love Short Circuit!
Also, I went to the same library as Johnny 5 and used the same phrase as I walked up to the counter "May I have these crap head?" and then they kicked me out of the library because I insulted apparently, but I was only just kidding....
@jamespic What's even funnier is, they were able to avoid the guards by simply leaving the bookstore...guess those two were absent during "How to find the front door" part of their training.
@Ziggurat2009 That reminds me, imagine a WALL-E + Johnny Five AMV set to the tune of Harry Chapin's 'Cats in the Cradle' (imagine that WALL-E is JOHNN-E's surrogate son).
\8-D
In turn, Wheems from 'Batteries Not Included' could be WALL-E's surrogate son (not in terms of chronological contuity, but this would just be for the sake of the video).
@buddhasknowbest I've been there many times. It's a "must" every time I visit T.O. The movie was shot in downtown Toronto. The corners opposite the Eaton Centre have sure changed since the movie was filmed. But Chinatown on Dundas is still the same. Toronto is my favorite city to visit for vacation. We're only across the lake near Rochester, but now it's a hassle to go there because of the border crossing rules. We've gone from three or four visits annually to one, if at all. Darn terrorists.
