Mike i think your method of teachin is amzing mate, even my missis understood ! but............ we want more more more !! flares and crabs next please !
@MixtapeMessiah92 yeah!! most of em anyway haha i mean we could clear this up by u telling me were ur from so i can tell u once and for all if i hate ur accent or not
how do you know which part of the song you're spinning to? like if you want to start it right before a singer says "hey hey," like how do you know where to spin it to?
straight arms will give you a better hold on the record but the angle at which the cut into the groove of the record increases the damage the needle does on the vinyl
s arms give a better sound quality (its argued) and less wear on the vinyl but they dont hold on to the record so well
hope that helps, there is also a J shaped arm thats inbetween
its like anything in life, its up to your own personal preferences. Some people prefer the 1210s, some the ttx's some the vestax.. all are quality decks. I have a 1210 mk2 myself and I prefer the vestax
Vestax PDX's are better for scratching, mainly due to increased torque. Make sure you get one of the later models as the earlier ones had some feedback issues. Technics are more hardwearing, better build quality but are lacking in some features (ultra pitch!). They also have less torque.
How is it pahetic, he might of not used the best samples for scratchin but i just learnt the basics of scratchin, and i bet it wasnt just me who learnt sumthin either
the best bit was the little story about how the scratch was invented. it gave me a lot of insight. u seen that mental new scratch thats just been invented? it,ll be on youtube somewhere. its called the delusional paraphraser scratch.
I havnt heard of the delusional paraphraser scratch... sorry if you think I'm delusional or a umm paraphraser. A lot of people actually found this useful and have subscribed. But if you think its a bust I might as well not do nowt else ever again and live in a hole.
I started to skratch before I started to mix cos I only had the one deck, I was an MC at first then into DJ through that really. I'm from Consett mate its a bit south of Newcastle but I love the toon, great record shops!
try looking for record companies such as DirtStyle, StonesThrow (Super Duck Breaks etc), AMMO Records and also from djs such as DJ Rectangle, Mr Dibbs, DJ Revolution... try some online stores too look under turnatblism
Awesome video. I was looking at buying the Stanton smx 501 mixer. Have you ever used an effects unit with this mixer? This was a great tutorial about scratching. Thanks man, it give me a place to start.
Thanks for your reply johngr, the fx loops on this mixer are surprisingly good, each channel has it own fx button to feed the fx thru that particular channel.
