  • how could anyone dislike this?

  • Nice. I know of this version and a few others (like the Twickenham Studio soundtrack recordings, and the Beatles Anthology recording), but I love the song and wish there were more complete versions out there.

  • Funny that this sounds alot like the way Paul does this song these days.

  • OH DARLIN

  • @jimmyphilippillar It's Macca

  • great ... funny old beatle boys ,,, takin the piss outta not lettin' ya dowwnnn...come on!!! THE BEATLES ......RESPECT!!!!!!

  • As a Beatlemaniac i can say that THIS SONG IS PLAYED BY THE BEATLES no one can approach to The Beatles greatest band ever

  • This isnt the beatles.

  • @TopTenCrew this is paul singing

  • @TopTenCrew ur a dumbass

  • @frusciante319

yeah that was a pretty dumbass comment, idk why I even posted it, haha. Probably high or something.

  • @TopTenCrew hahah totally fine dude i know what u mean lol

  • Great song, cool posting, thanx for sharing!

  • great song!!!

  • John really wanted to do the vocals on this song.....it does seem like it would suit Lennon's vocal style a little more than Paul's.....

  • it sounds that way because it was recorded , throught the Wi\zenwherller and backtracked with a mic pinged to the open ended Vieserqueser return value,,,, But , it works

  • There is something flat, or out of tune about this recording.

  • I think Paul had said something llike: Hey, I can make a song like John does... and out came "do it in the road" .. alternately John made "everybody's got something to hide"

  • Owch. God Paul...How could you have stood more than one take of this. Your throat must me made of Iron...And I thought Twist and Shout was hard...Jesu. Jesu...Jesu..The Beatles are forever.

    -Miss McCartney

  • this is not alternate version, this is a simple take.

  • Wow Paul sounds really rough at the first chorus. I love it when his vocals morphs like that, like in Golden Slumber. To me, it sounds rather (strangely) sexy. Sigh, if I only I lived in the 60s.

  • en el segundo coro se cansa y tiene q cantar con falsete XD

    es muy exignte esta cancion

  • que shiiii

  • John and Paul were the greatest, musical, song writing team ever.

  • what about jagger and richards ?

    axl and slash

    plant and page ?

  • elton john and bernie taupin?

    richard rogers and oscar hammerstein?

geddy lee, alex lifeson and neil peart?

  • yeahhhhh ... what about those genius ?!?!

  • @grancochis

    Jebeels and Kage

    hahahaahha !!

  • @spacestate it's obvious

  • @spacestate In the Beatles, especially from 1966 onwards, they wrote almost entirely seperately. John had zero input on 'Oh Darling', for example.

  • Cool!

  • People seem to think of John as the one with the "rocker" voice, but Paul could pull it off pretty well too. I love them both, their voices are so different, but so good, and they sounded great together.

  • really? I've always thought at Paul as the "rocker"

  • @HollieKR I've never thought as either as the 'rocker' voice. They both sang so perfectly, different, and so individual.

  • @rleary1 I guess it is hard to say what kind of voice they each had because they could sing in so many different voices or styles or whatever you want to call it, but they could definitely both pull off the "rocker" voice in their own unique ways.

  • @HollieKR Paul has the best rocker voice of them both in my opinion :)

  • @HollieKR Paul's vocals were miles ahead of John's. Songs like Helter Skelter, Oh, Darling, I've Got a Feeling, I'm Down, and Long Tall Sally blow most everything John did out of the water.

  • @TheResidentSociopath Paul's "rocker" songs are some of my favorites. He is also so much fun to watch sing.

  • @TheResidentSociopath I agree...most of the time people relate The Beatles only to Lennon, Paul is so overrated as a composer and singer...

  • @ragamuffing sorry, what a meant was UNDERRATED...

    my english sucks

  • @ragamuffing so does mine.....and i'm english !

  • @HollieKR Agreed, m8!!

  • I agree with Rikenrocker. In 69 I don't think John would have been able to do this better than Paul, despite what he said. I would have LOVED to hear an early 60s John have a go at this though.

Love this song though, I think it's Paul's equivalent to John's "Twist and Shout" in terms of vocals.

  • Is it John singing here?

  • no, its Paul ;)

  • John would have to change key to sing the middle part. By 69 that was out of his range. He had his hands full with Come Together if you listen to the anthology out takes.

  • John should have sang lead on this song-even though Paul does a bloody good crack at it , blimey, bloody good

  • I know that John said he could sing this better;also I'm more a fan of John than Paul. Having said that, I think Paul just shreds his throat to do this (at least on the LP). When Paul was good, he was VERY good!

  • John also said 'why don't we do it in the road' was more his style than Paul's, though Macca done a good job on it.

  • Yes, it was meant to be either John on harmonies throughout or on shared lead.

  • of course it is. are you joking?

  • this is what is known as a rehearsal; lol; still marvelous stuff.

  • MOST TALENTED MAN ALIVE

  • I think this take should have been put on "Abbey Road"

  • is it the song only you? like this!!

  • Paul's voice is so sweeet, he is adorable:)

  • they had so powerful mics!

  • Paul sounds cute here!!!

  • I love hearing alternates. I do like the final take better, but it's still neat to hear this.

  • Glad he kept trying to get that "Right Vocal"

This one didnt cut it. And that harmony with himself just isn't working.Don't get me wrong, back then Paul McCartney had one of the best voices on the planet! The music is the same as the final version. Except John & George, or just George did some oohs & ahhs on the last verse of the song..

  • no doubt about it... paul macca singin.. i like the alternates they are always more raw.. long live the beatles

  • there is no doubt that this is paul i dont know why anyone would think otherwise

  • its paul..for sure. ;)

  • It is Paul. Read the books. Every morning for a week he went into the studio before the other Beatles came and sang a new version till he got it like he wanted it to be. And that's not John harmonizing, but Paul with himself

  • how is this not paul?

  • Absolutely Paul. He is altering his voice to get a more bluesy. different sound. He does it all of the time.

  • c'mon people you gotta be able to tell it's mccartney from the screaming, that's pure paul, ladies and gents. weren't you wondering why it was so badass??? ;)

  • Exactly!!!. It is clearly him. And he sounds great.

  • I agree, Paul's voice is unmistakeable....so bluesy and kool

  • This is, without a doubt, Paul McCartney. I've heard this demo before, along with others where he sings in a similar voice.

  • AND!!! you can hear john harmonizing with paul in the last verse!!! Pleaseee def beatles

  • of course its paul you idiot

  • defintly the Beatles just from the sound alone of the music, its beatles, and its defintly paul from the vocals. Some sort of outake

  • Yeah, It doesn't seem Paul, but I think the speed is not right so you can't hear his voice right.

  • yes it is paul mccartney, its so obvious.

  • If I didnt know any better , this sounds like that band THIRD FLOOR you know they did NO REPLY on here..nice ...I may be wrong, keepim coming

  • that is paul, with no doubt, it is paul... definately paul... beatles paul....

  • thank you, sir or madam. wonderful!
