This kid is a very technically skilled drummer. He could definitely chew up most the guys jamming him just with his snare work alone. As far as Gadd goes, more power to him to be influenced by a legend. These 11 year olds that are this dedicated usually end up freaky good.
@superdog1321 I'm commenting on your ignorance. You can't comprehend it. You viewed this young mans video and you laughed at him because he did not meet your ignorant expectations. I'm sure the last thing this young man wants to be is "metal." His skills do not indicate that would care to be "Metal."
@superdog1321 But because of your ignorance and laughing at him I had to defend him, because you are one stupid useless unknowledgeable sack of shit. My dick has a higher IQ than your pea brain. So Mr. Faggot come suck on my higher learning tool, "Dude". Grow up you piece of shit. You will never as good as me in anything in life. Since I broke this down to you piece by piece, will you learn your lesson and behave when you view someones work? I doubt it! Go choke on some cock dip shit.
It sounds a lot like the Vinnie Colaiuta drum solo. Watch the drumsolo of Dave Weckle, Vinnie Colaiuta and Steve Gadd. The beginning is almost the same.
But that is important actually... This is just a very good solo.
mangini WAS the fastest till seth davis kicked his ass on youtube! look for themoellerkillers channel on here and see for yourself that he DEVISTATES!!!
Actually I like more options on my drums set :P Im keeping it minimized though... Double bass normal set and 2 crashes... Double sure added a lot to my playing
I disagree... If Tim decides to start with double bass, he opens a different chapter withing drumming, but still... he got some mean skills now too :P
well if its your favorite i'm sure you should have been able to understand why its actually fun to listen to and exciting. it actually does depend on who you listen to also though.
btw tom you're a beast. great solo. you have very quick hands and a good sense of time.
Dude, maybe he took bits of what he liked and made some variations out of it? Ever thought of that? Who's to say he wanted to copy Gadd's solo bit by bit? Maybe he took bits he liked and wanted to make the rest his own. Look man, this kid is 17 years old in this video and he's already busting out little Steve Gadd licks. That's really impressive if you ask me. I think he did an amazing job.
actually look up gadd's first bit in the buddy rich memorial...he didnt copy the whole thing, but i could tell the bits he tried to do....he did better than i would, im not really giving out, just a comment...i saw the vid was called the fastest drummer and clicked on it knowing he was so young!
I fail to see how this is boring. If you don't find this video entertaining then I suggest you watch Tom's new video (drum solo at Rumors) because it really is entertaining and he shows off his chops way more than he usually does.
Well I'll try to explain myself, I didn't mean to sound arrogant or anything (my singles are not that consistent). I just thought he could have showed a little more style and technique rather than speed. You can only play the same thing for so long before it becomes redundant.
I watched the video, much better than this one thanks.
I guess the world's fastest drummers just have different things to show. I just think his technique has a long way to go on drum set. But his singles are siiick. Thanks again
don't know what you're talking about lighterhead, this kid has got some incredible technique on the drums and remember it's a lot harder than it looks.
I disagree. I think he has incredible stick control and uses his fulcrum to the maximum extent, which is something I can't do. Hardly anyone can honestly. When I say drum set technique I'm leaning towards variety. For instance, he doesn't really groove in this video. Technical grooves are harder than learning to play fast. Go look up Tony Royster, Royster Jr., they have good technique.
I think you're confusing the actual application of technique on drums and technique itself. This guy has technique down really well (it would be foolish to say he didn't). But when it comes to technique on drums, that's an entirely different mater and it comes down to opinion as well.
He didn't lay down any groove for this solo because he decided to take a different route by the looks of things. And just for the record, he CAN groove. Keep watching his videos (in the future) and you'll see.
Yes he can groove, I watched many of his videos. I agree. All I was saying is that this particular piece was not entertaining to me. Of course he has technique, that's what I meant by stick control etc.
HOLD THE CAMERA STILL GODAMMIT.
Good playing though.. :D
