Ive tried this and many other methods to get my ps3 to play on my monitor but none of them work. I have a 20in Samsung SyncMaster SA350 1600x900 resoltion monitor, a DVI to HDMI adapter and an HDMI cable. When I pressed and held the power button on my ps3 nothing happened. I was on the DVI channel and all I get is a "Check Signal Cable" message. Dont get any ps3 message to confirm HDMI setting nothing. The cables work because I connected my laptop to my monitor fine. Can someone please help?

@Todesengel1998 I use a stereo adapter that isn't red and white but both gold. It works fine for me. Remember to switch your ps3 sound settings though, if you wan't sound.

@Todesengel1998 all the yellow adapter does is produce SD quality video. the HDMI cable does this for you, so you can just leave the yellow alone and just use the red and white

It's a stereo sound adapter. The PS3 outputs sound on two lines, but speakers usually only accept them on one line, so turns stereo sound into one sound.

@alres3 Subwoofer or your speakers, your speakers should have a port on the front to plug it in, if not and instead has a cable that comes out like he said then you will need that female to femle adapter, but i doubt your speakers would have that.

@7u8m6z nothing is wrong, that has to happen it is how the game is formatted. This has nothing to do with you. The game may say 1080p on the case but when the resolution drops to 720p thats just the maximum resolution the game can output at.
