  • @ MrNazgy - Did not know that, thank you for sharing! I'd have no problem with it being sung for real when this event happens because it's His earth and universe to destroy and make anew.

  • Dear person who does not know the bible: When Jesus returns he will split the eastern sky and set His feet on the Mount of Olives in Israel which will also split and form a valley that allows those who are expecting him to hide while he takes care of their enemies who are trying to kill them. After that He will set up His kingdom for 1000 years. The people who have not been destroyed by the world dictator who was in power before Christ's arrival will continue to live on the earth in peace.

  • @MrNazgy You know that this is not from a movie but Handel's Messiah, an oratorio written in 1741?

  • ... You guys know that in the musical this song is from, this is sung as the world is destroyed by the second coming of Jesus, right.....? So not a "OUR LORD IS BORN" kinda thing, but more of a "WE PRAISE OUR LORD AS HE DESTROYS THE EARTH" kinda song.

  • SDG Soli Deo Gloria

  • amen christ christ christ

  • Love it!!! Praise The Lord Hallelujah!!!

  • its so sad this song i love that.

  • muito bonito

  • the most beautiful song i had ever heard

  • 36 peoples are punished from heven

  • @igotthepower123456 You're a fucking idiot

  • Händel with ä

  • My Redeemer lives! My saviour , my Lord Jesus Christ lives!!!! Hallelujah!!!!!

  • The most beautiful music in one of the most beautiful churches ever. Wheeling is very proud of both Bethany College and St. Joseph's Cathedral.

  • All Hallelujahs to the Lord of Lords, his Majesty Jesus Christ the King of all in the Heavens and the Earth! :-) Glory!

  • cracked.com/article_18990_6-pieces-music-that-mean-opposite-what-you-think.html

  • No wonder the king stood up at an early performance of Messiah

  • Beautiful as it always is.

Anyone not seeing Divine Design in creation as in this piece....unfortunately, is blind!

  • I either come to tears or almost come to tears every time I listen to this.

  • @NicPap12 Me too:) Merry Christmas!

  • Research the history of George Fredrick Handel and the story behind the composing of the whole of The Messiah.

  • Nice

  • BRAVO!!! I sang this in choir back in high school and still one of my very favorite pieces of music.

  • BRAVO!!! I sang this in choir back in high school and still one of my very favorite pieces of music.

  • Is it just me, or does anyone else want to hear the sopranos a high F# on the last note instead of the D? :\ I mean, I know that's how it's written, but... just once I'd like to hear some choir deviate and perform this piece with that higher harmony. It seems like it'd feel even more complete.

  • This is a beautiful performance... By the way, did anyone else see the "face" around 1:40-2:10 mark. It's really odd.

  • Ok, to all u people who are saying ur supirior to another religon or race or anything else, just saying ur being so ignorant it's not even funny. U can enjoy this peice no matter what u believe. And stop spoiling the video by posting stupid comments.

  • beautifully performed - thank you

  • THIS IS FOR ELIESUKS. how dare you! do you not appreciate music at all? don't forget dumbass, jesus was a JEW! so if you think that it's cute that you or your church, whatever, make all the jews leave when they sing this song is funny? you are a pathetic and shallow person. do you think that would be acceptable to jesus? nope, he would sit right along w/ the jews, you moron. think before you speak so viciously about other people. your name display here says it all, you suck & you are vulgar.

  • ABSOLUTELY AWESOME !! Surely the Lord of Heaven and Earth inspired the writing of this magnificent music !!!

  • @mairzydoatz1 I agree!!

  • 72 years old, in music most of life. I will die exclaiming that Handel's Messiah is greatest single piece of music ever written!

  • This is truly the hand of God in notes as given to Handel. Handel's assistant could not get his attention knocking on the door and when he entered he found Handel with this sheet music in his hand a tears streaming down his face.....Handel said he thought he saw the face of God when writing this. I believe he did!

  • I like this video to prevent 666, now notice it's 667 :P...

Don't forget to take a look of our choir's videos!

  • im better

  • Wow....

  • @greek111able Exactly! Wish I had been there. What a live performance!!

  • When Handel first directed this before his king the king openly wept. A fantastic, gifted piece of music, Glory to God above!

  • Splendid! Please also comment in my choir's videos. Thanks a lot...

  • Oh !! how i miss sing this song ... it's simply owesome :)

  • dude-what right do you have calling duzcocuk a terrorist?? And who are you to tell someone they can't enjoy a song?? I worry more about bigotted an prejudiced people like you than them...

  • tenor part so hard

  • @popcap200 Indeed it is, I'm a tenor and we're singing this along with Handel's Swell the Full Chorus...he has really interesting tenor parts. and they're consistently high! but it's really fun once you get it down.

  • @popcap200 and I love the high A on "and HE shall reign"...etc. so awesome

  • Great performance of the Hallelujah !! If it gives me goosebumps, that's how I know for sure it's a great performance, and I've got goosebumps all over ! Bravo !

  • I didn't know Muslims were allowed to like anything other than suicide bombings and total destruction of anything good. Good for you!

  • When I was a child of six I lived the entire Messiah.

I grew up to be an atheist cum pantheist, but this STILL makes the hairs on the nape of my head stand up.

  • Ich freue mich, wenn deutsches Liedgut SO umgesetzt wird. Freunde findet mann durch Musik, weltweit! Musik verbindet die Völker und die Religionen!

I love it, when people like german music. And love it, to hear it from all over the world. Find friends and make music, 'cause music is connecting people and religions. Pray the lord!

  • @flecki67red yes, how true. Handel's Messiah is probably the greatest masterpiece ever composed. It is heavenly anthem that connects people of every race, language and religion on earth.

  • This will always be the most beautiful song in the universe! If not for Jesus Christ it never would have been written!

  • @rockerdriver Wow lol.....?

  • @rockerdriver

Sorry but it's actually because of Handel. Christ didn't write it and as far as I know, he never did write music....:)

  • @Americanbear1 It was because of Jesus Christ existing this was written. If he had not existed Handel would not have written the Messiah. Sorry you took my comment so literally. Obviously six others knew what I was talking about because I have the second highest rated comment on this video. So I'll rephrase the comment just for dumbasses like you: This will always be the most beautiful song in the universe! If not for THE BIRTH OF Jesus Christ it never would have been written! Satisfied now?

  • @rockerdriver

Wow. Guess you can't take a joke. Did ya even notice that little smiley face at the end? Probably not, being as dumb as you are. I'm sure Jesus really enjoys your mouth. Such a christian attitude.

  • @rockerdriver May we all sing it in Glory one day!

As for the atheists... I truly admire your faith - that [at incomprehensible odds] every living organism, with all it's harmony and complexity (e.g. DNA), is believed to have crawled out of primordial soup without any level of intelligent design. It sincerely amazes me.

  • @rockerdriver

thank god for superman, santa claus and the tooth fairy at the same time....

  • @icm1011 Thank God you're just another idiot.

  • @rockerdriver Nah they'd be singing it for the spaghetti monster

  • Hallelujah !!! My God, my Lord, all man-kind Messiah, the savior. Amen !!

    哈利路亞 !!! 我的上帝,我的主,所有人類 Messiah,救主。 阿門!!

  • It is a good performance but I think their is a lot of footdragging....

  • @ChristFavorsME

I have flagged you and hope your disgusted comment gets deleted.

  • @ChristFavorsME I'm black and in orchestra and I love this music. So there goes your very stupid and ignorant inference. I love classical music, country, and world music such as Enya or Celtic Woman. This whole statement you said makes you that derogatory word.

  • @kibasgirl93

You want to know something funny? This is going to kill you.

    *I'm* black.

I'm just yanking people's chains for the lulz.

    Ever heard of Poe's law?

  • @ChristFavorsME You need to change your name because Christ will NOT favor anyone so full of prejudice. Do you honestly think everyone walking around during his time was WHITE?? How stupid can one person be??? You are a sick individual.

  • heyy my friend goes to bethany :) this makes me happy

  • We sing thing song when we have a special school activity back in BAGUIO when we were in Highschool. 4 voices. i miss singing this song. :))

  • @saintanass yea i sing too this song with my choir

    is wonderful ;)

  • Absolutely fantastic!!

  • outstanding,as you say "hope for mankind" if king george had not stood up and "bravoed" he would have been treated as a blasphemer, anyhow wev'e got past all that rcap, good stuff i say!

  • I listen this music.

    bravo!!!

  • Magestuosa interpretación, pueden escuchar a los angeles?

  • I am an atheist but i like this song :)

  • @tullillimi then consider converting

  • 2:23 best moment in the entire Messiah.

  • what means hallelujah? :)

  • Hallelujah is from Hebrew and means "Praise the LORD"

  • It's worth mentioning also that "jo", "el" and their variants mean "The Lord" in Hebrew , so not only "halleluja" but also many Hebrew names say something about the Lord:

Michael, ("who is like the Lord ?!") Daniel, John (originally Jokhanan - the lord has granted) and all its male and female variants,

Elizabeth, Jonathan, Matthew (originally "Mattitjah"), Gabriel, Raphael, Joel, Jeremiah, Isaia and many others.

  • that's a very nice chair the conductor is sitting on =P

  • why is the conductor sitting on the chair? :P

  • Absolutely magnificent! Extremely moving and faith-inspiring

  • Even atheists like Richard Dawkins and myself can love and appreciate this piece... it is beauty...

  • @dprice1291 How right you are, even heathens can appreciate a sunset or a beautiful flower. How much more right however if you can acknowledge that an infinite, uncreated, all powerful Being who is beauty and truth Himself ( among other attributes) exists and has gifted all of us with such beauty palpable to our senses to call us to belief and faith.May the light of Him who loves you even in your blindness shine on you and deliver you from the valley of death.God bless you.

  • @indan413 I think our definitions of 'right' diverge a bit... I go for supported, positive evidence, rather than dogma. I appreciate the 'us above them' mentality that makes you call me a heathen. And how blind of me to use my mind and view evidence, rather than just accept claims. But have a nice day :)

  • @dprice1291

Francis Collins is way cooler than Richard Dawkins

  • @jessejubilee And I'm certain that the 'coolness' of a person is a measure of the correctness of their intellectual position.

  • J'aime vraiment bien! Trop bien fait!

  • J'aime vraiment! Trop bien fait!

  • Bethany is a small Christian choir in West Virginia

  • L'image vidéo n'est pas assez stable ,on ne voit pas les bouches chanter, mais c'est très bien chanté.

  • WOW!!! SO GOOD!

  • Excellent.Thanks for the post.

  • grande teooooooooooooooooooooo auguriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii xP xP xP

  • not a good version...sorry

  • This Easter, I am playing the trumpet part on a C trumpet instead of my normal B flat. I absolutely love playing this with my church choir every Easter.

  • I love this song and I love to sing it with my choir :D

  • I love it... it was cool

  • Det är ingen stil på dirigenten. Sitter där på en stol som en jävla sprattelgubbe.

  • Love that song ;D

  • Grata, belíssimo!!!

  • Superb Welsh Soprano 'Elin Manahan Thomas' who has sang to many of Handel's works (including 'Eternal Source of Light Divine' Ode for the Birthday of Queen Anne 1713) now has a 'Fan Page' dedicated to her on the Social networking site Facebook - check it out and show your support. Includes details of upcoming appearences, and links to videos, gallery and her own personal blog.

  • what makes you think that?

  • why 11? why not 2012? Jk, anyways, this song is awesome!

  • Jesus never told anyone speifically when he's coming back. He himself doesn't even know. "Only the Father knows." as He said in the Gospels. Our job is to prepare for His return.

  • They deserved a more lively applause that what I heard. They were fantastic.

    chris

  • Me and the choir of our school sang this song at the 18th of december, but this version is pretty much better!

    Stunningly!

  • finally, a version where they are not off to the races as far as timing!!so many try to sing this WAY too fast. beautiful version. thank you for posting

  • esta feo y falta manejo de las frases

  • Remember to Enjoy,

  • I am muslim but i like this song :)

  • Peace be upon you.

  • @duzcocuk As I said to some other guy, religion don't matter when it comes to music. Do you think Handel was more in love with the music, or with the Christian God? I think music ; ) He just happened to get paid by the Christian Church ; ) And.. Europe has a very different music then the Arabic countries when it comes to religion.. But of course, we do have boring stuff in Christianity too ; )

  • @stygn Wasn't this Music done for George IV and not for religion?

  • @rhodesianrob1 man are you GREATLY mistaken....

  • @stygn I think you are wrong!

Handel was a very adamant Christian.

I have perceived that a lot of your comment are directly pointed at our faith.

You are like the trees roots with the axe above just waiting to fall and crush you. Listen closely to the song accept what it says or stop making comments.

Let those who can enjoy it more post comments. Take your complaining somewhere else Duzcocuk!

  • @tubecarygone I guess I was wrong in trying to defend the music then.. So, what you're saying is that the music doesn't matter, it's all about religion.. If you're not a Christian you're not allowed to like the music?

Now, did you feel that my comment was against Christianity? Well it wasn't.. And I'm sorry if you perceived it that way.

It wasn't against anything, or anyone.. I was just trying to defend the piece of music.

I am a Christian too, but I'd still like the music if I wasn't.

  • @tubecarygone So what if Handel was a Christian? Many atheist composers have set Judeo-Christian themes to brilliant music: e.g. Camille Saint-Saens. and his Samson and Delilah. Handel also wrote several operas based on pagan mythology, as did Bach. See Richard Dawkins, one of the most outspoken atheists, comment on Bach's St. Matthew Passion. Do you need to believe all the characters in a Dickens novel are real? Of course not. Your point is rubbish.

  • @duzcocuk Proud to you! God bless...

  • @duzcocuk How could one not like this beautiful music?? The gift of beautiful music is given to us by our Creator to enjoy. Beautiful music is the highest form of language as it moves us emotionally. Our emotion is what make us human!

  • @hippitybippitybop you rock

  • @duzcocuk ...my friend, Jesus Christ is the only one who died for our sins. Believe in Him and He will save you, then you and I will be singing this to the Lord Himself! Isn't that awesome?

  • @duzcocuk glad to hear of your interest in choral singing. You may also want to check out Handel's "Tochter Zion" and J.S. Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring".

  • @duzcocuk No sir, you are an idiot by making that statement.

  • @duzcocuk you win

  • @duzcocuk

you are a terrorist. You are not permitted to love this song.

  • Congratulations to all involved from Sydney.

    Wonderful performance!

Thank you and Merry Christmas to all!

  • This is wonderful. I really enjoyed the music provided by this wonderful choir and they are dressed fantasticaly! Thank you for sharing this beautiful music. I really love their enthusiasm as well. Thank you again.

  • And yet you chose to post your comment, showing your negative attitude toward what might be viewed as "American" dialect. Where are you from? Maybe I should make fun of words that you pronounce in a different manner? In fact, the word "the" is pronounced a variety of different ways based upon upbringing, region, and cultural influence. While perhaps not viewed as the "most correct" way to pronounce it, it is viewed as a pronunciation none the less.

  • OK, OK, I admit it was a sour-grapes comment - I'll remove it - thank you at least for maintaining a position of righteous indigation and not being abusive, as so many people can be on Youtube - and yes, the US is full of dialects, all legitimate. A UK friend once revealed to me that spoken American sounds quaint & archaic to the Engish, maybe because our culture branched off from England 200 years ago and went its own way - so anyway, happy holidays & Merry Christmas

  • This song is a beast to sing. Both the soprano and alto parts are difficult, but hearing the final product is SO worth it. It's an absolutely amazing song.

  • Yes, outstanding. This performance brought me to tears literally. Thank you!

  • Outstanding performance of one of the most moving pieces of music ever written.

  • My choir does this every year. This is amazing. This is the only one where I can actually hear how awesome the bass part is.

  • Uugh I wish it was as easy to sing as it is to listen to, my chorus is doing this song. It's soo frustrating!!! But gorgeous when it's sung like this :)

  • Also check out "Handel - Messiah" on YouTube Search. It has the sheet music and is performed by the Ambrosian Singers of London. It is excellent also!

  • Just FANTASTIC, what a talented group of young people

  • it was cool . Its hard to sing like that

  • It is amazing to hear how the live orchestra adds to the piece, even though it is only 12 or so instruments we see here. Is the organ playing as well? Thank you, jmbernard86, so much for singing, playing and posting this beautiful rendition on You Tube. Our choir will be playing and singing For the Glory of the Lord on Dec 20th, and your example makes me want to hope our choir director and worship leader will say yes. to hiring (or getting volunteers) for a full orchestra.

  • Hallelujah God For Your Love and Gifts to show to the whole world You are the King of kings Amen!

  • "Fire in the hole...!" (some nerds may know the reference ^^)
