Dynamics are wonderful...her pronounciation of some of the word are not correct..Itailians have 15 different dialects. I cannot tell which one she is using..Listen to Pavarotti or Bartolli to get more dialect...otherwise simply Beautiful...
I think she is incredible.......but theres one thing that bothers me. It doesn't look like her mouth is open ...you know :) lol but it was still beautiful.
@PandaPhantom Funny you should mention that about her mouth. I've never been a Tebaldi fan, but this is extraordinarily well sung...partly for that reason. This is real Garcia technique, letting the resonance spaces and high placement do the work. The sound is forward and effortless and the line just glides along guided by her lips. For all you Renata fans: I HAVE FINALLY SEEN THE LIGHT!!
II'm sorry you were assaulted by a foul-mouthed coward; your gracious reply shows you to be a better person. Now that waters are calmer, let me suggest that indeed Renata Tebaldi was one of the greatest sopranos of the 20th century, but this video was made after her best days, and not in her ideal repertoire. Thus it is good, but not sublime or superior to many others. So you are both a little right and a little wrong, except the gentleman is no gentleman.
you have no idea what an ignorant imbecile you sound like when you say "I have no idea who this is" and then try to give a singing lesson to the great Renata Tebaldi
OMG...SHE SANG EXACTLY HOW GLUCK WROTE iT WiTH THE DYNAMiCS AND ALL...THiS BY FAR iS THE BEST VERSiON...iF YOU ARE LEARNiNG THE SONG PLEASE FOLLOW HER LEAD
With her very mature voice (1973), she makes a great performance showing what are italian style, spirit, warmth and vocal technique in Opera. Of course, she adapted tempo to her vocal and breath declines... No matter !
I agree with the other poster.Totally charming Renata and in fine voice still in november 1973, she have been singing the heaviest roles for 30 years by that time
I cannot stop playing this Tebaldi/Corelli nov '73 wonderful concert.Tebaldi singing remained easy, she opens her mouth very little, she was singing very well even towards the end of her career."O del mio dolce ardor" is unbeleivable
Perfection. She is never about herself when performing. Soooo great.

One of the best versions of this aria was done by Wiktoria (Vittoria) Calma. The sweetest, velvet and deep mezzosoprano, today forgotten.

Anne Sofie von Otter also has a very good version, which is surprisingly like Tebaldi's version here.

I agree. A model to be followed by students and professional singers as well.
Wonderful phrasing coupled with genuine talent for dramatic insight.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
its nice, but, her voice gets trapped in her mouth!
I think that Sumi Jo's is better, just because its more open.
