Can anybody please tell me, why all of this musicians use CASIO CZ 101 for this kind of music? What makes CASIO CZ 101 so special?
I wanna buy one of this, but i cant find it. Is there another synthesixer that is the same as casio cz 101? Please help me. I have a keyboard with pitchband, but i cant make the same effects as they do on casio cz101, why is casio cz different? what makes is different?
The CZ 101 was not necessarily developed for oriental music - in fact, it was produced in the 80s as a cost effective instrument for electronic music. It's based on Casio's own digital synthesis (phase distortion) which has some similarities with Yamaha's FM (DX7 and others).
The CZ's deep editing possibilities meant that one was able to create much more complex sounds than analog synthesis could. Plus the pitch bender on the CZ is simply one of the best ever made!
Spiros could do this on anything :) 90% talent, 10% equipment. Don't get hung up on gear, one needs the skills first.
Nowadays there are tons of keyboards/synths that will do the job. Yes, the cz-101 has a very nice and smooth pitch control, but there are so many other options out there. So don't worry about what you're getting, focus on what you're gonna do with it! :)

Another question, do you think that Spiros Kottis can play as good on another synth? Or only on casio cz 101?
