hey fancy i was able to integrate a web belt with the 5.11 LBE using maxpedition tac tie 3", worked great it stayed on an never moved best thing i did with the vest it brought it all together....
Man the information you offer is amazing! You need like a 'SuperChannel" designation or something! Besides the political debates, you have the only videos I am willing to watch more than 15 minutes lol.
The whole "quick detatchable" thing became a trend when the military adopted it for use with the MTVs, and the only reason they wanted it was due to the water issue, as you mentioned. Marines go over water a lot, and when you fall in with a 60 pound load, it's all too easy to drown. For civilians, I don't think it's necessary - unless you have a personal helicopter you're going to be flying around in, they're not going to be over deep water with LBV on.
I am normally in 2X sized shirts, and am planning on getting this vest, but I am wondering if I should go bigger (4X) to fit stuff underneath, or would i have enough room? 4X seems too large, but it would give me more webbing...
@zf66 i own this vest, and am 2x, it adjusts so i can fit a tshirt, and a hoodie under neath it, and even bigger. great vest, i paid 100$ for mine tho. and in summer, that mesh webbing is so much better then other vests,

I'm aiming for this vest, but having trouble finding pouches and can hold 308 and not mag since I doubt my 4 round mags would fit in any pouch well. As well as a camel back like molle pack that can fit on the back.

Do you run a shell catcher on your 308 it's worth it you can get 3 or 4 reloads out of them I don't reload yet but I got 2000 308 casings so I am set that 3 rd person thing is funny

Anyone know how large the XL is? Im not a big dude but I need to know if I should go a size large and cinch it down for normal clothes but have the option of bigger for jackets and such I may be wearing.

purchased one last week ( or i tried to ) and after seeing no shipping info or recipe i looked at the bank statements and nothing ????? so i went to the 5.11 site and guess what? the vest is now 100 bucks and not the 80 i tried to purchase it for , looks like they deleted or froze vest orders for the week while they changed prices and didnt say Sh*t . so look around for others who have it at normal price , this video has made the price unreal ; [

I'm in an anti-riot squadron in France and I must say that this thing is really reliable (that's primordial),and lightweight. As I'm not a big guy, weight is always and important parameter in choosing gear.

Another nice thing about this vest is us Plus size officers (we're in shape its just round) have a option of getting this vest as well. The 2x+ size will adjust all the way through 3x and there is also the advantage of a 4x size if you happen to be big and wearing your vest under it. Great trunk system to keep your active shooter stuff on hand.

I'm not trying to argue your points, just noticed some points that you missed. If your front is covered w/ molle pouches, they will restrict ventilation because they're not mesh. Also, a belt attachment could benefit with the weight balance of the vest. (I always wear a belt)
What's your opinion if there's no zipper on the front, just 3 buckles? Otherwise, the vest i'm considering is very similar.
ever since seeing the molle vests i have been trying to find one in blaze orange for hunting i know this is contrary to tactical thinking but i think there is huge market for them if anyone else is anyone else interested in one if so please let the manufactures know

looking at 5.11's website it appears that they have discontinued the OD Green version of this vest, so it's now available in Tan and Black. This sucks for those of us who live in eastern US woodland areas. Nutn, if you could, tell 5.11 to bring back the OD please!!

Why wouldn't anyone who is spending some huge bucks on knives or guns or clothing want to watch a 30 min review to get a comprehensive idea of what a product offers. It's being a good consumer. And these reviews are invaluable for those of use that don't have access to trying on multiple vests or knives or whatever. I want to know everything I can about a product when I can't put my hands on it first.
hey nutnfancy , well this video made me get the LBE and i love it but im trying to figure out how many mag pouches to get, what do you recommend, i have an ar-15 and a beretta px4, im really thinking 2 double stacks for the ar-15(4mags) and 2 handguns, but this being my first vest im not real sure
I have this vest and I am interested in incorporating a ballistic plate with it. I checked out diamondbacktactical but it seems the plates sold there are restricted for mil/law only. Are there any places I can buy soft plates for my vest?
I have this same 5.11 VTAC vest and I put armor in the pockets. (kind of) I have this bulletproof wallboard (kinda like kevlar sheetrock, lol) that I got from work and I just cut three pieces. one full size for the back, and two smaller ones for both sides of the front. it aint the same as real body armor, but it stops bullets just the same :D
i think it's rated around IIIA pistol caliber, rifles calibers slice right through it though. oh well, it did what i could using what i had.
nutn I'm an airsofter. Yeah I try to go for SEAL loadouts but I do understand the concept of fire power versus mobility (thanks to you of course). This is the rig I still choose for airsoft and still gives me that "look". My 4 grenade shells, a radio, 8 mags, binos, sog seal pup elite (which you suggested and its awesome), pistol mags, GP pouch, your level 1 medi kit, plus water all fit on the vest. Its the best vest I've ever worn and it was all possible because of this review. I owe you nutn!

Question for anyone that owns this vest... I bought one in regular. I'm 6'2" 175lbs. The tightest width fits perfect at the waist, but I have to extend the shoulder adjustment straps to bring the length to just at my waist line. In doing so, the velcro fasteners are not contacting each other any longer. So the adjustable straps are the only things securing the vest at the shoulders. Anyone know if this is incorrect use. I'm afraid if I go up to the next size (2xl) it will be too big @ mid.
After Watching This video on the 5.11 vest I bought one. So far I love it, no problems with it. I do agree with Nutn I wish the inner pockets were zipper rather then velcro.
@BullRonin Its a great knife, but they have been discontinued, you would have to look on the secondary market, they still make the street beat, which is a smaller version.
Got my tac vest in the mail today. Got a descent deal on the flat dark earth coloration. For the money, the quality of material and workmanship is absolutely outstanding. Now I need to start setting up the pouches, etc. I wish they would get more of the plate carriers.

your tacforce holster has the pointed part of the clip toward your hand when you grab it but i have found that i can draw my pistol faster when the pointed clip "male version" is pointed away from my hand. just some infooo
@ddifantis Yeah they did, I was lucky enough to get one of the last shipments. Had an email conversation with 5.11 about this, expressed my disappointment they were phasing out OD. They forwarded that to their design department. Everyone else who uses OD should let 5.11 know that there is demand for this colour! 5.11 makes great stuff but those of us up north wearing OD or even CADPAT can't buy 5.11 anymore!
I just ordered one at the Neves by my house. Im a big guy (5'11'' 290lb) and the 2XL was a liiittle too small. now I didn't mess with the side velcrow adjustments but I do feel that the 3XL will be perfect. Hope this little info helps. Sweet review Nutn!

@MrPolloino Hey man... You might be good with getting this vtac vest and getting some shotgun pouches... Shotgun pouchs hold about 12 or so shells... I would say 4-6 pouchs at the most... Those shells get a bit heavy. I hope it helps...

nutn I'm an airsofter. Yeah I try to go for SEAL loadouts but I do understand the concept of fire power versus mobility (thanks to you of course). This is the rig I still choose for airsoft and still gives me that "look". My 4 grenade shells, a radio, 8 mags, binos, sog seal pup elite (which you suggested and its awesome), pistol mags, GP pouch, your level 1 medi kit, plus water all fit on the vest. Its the best vest I've ever worn and it was all possible because of this review. I owe you nutn!

@punisher2134 are you kidding me? since it is a kids gun, why dont you take a .22 bullet to the head and see if you are laughing then. Shooting a .22 LR is fun and cheap. Everyone should have a .22LR for cheap shooting days.

Question for anyone that owns this vest... I bought one in regular. I'm 6'2" 175lbs. The tightest width fits perfect at the waist, but I have to extend the shoulder adjustment straps to bring the length to just at my waist line. In doing so, the velcro fasteners are not contacting each other any longer. So the adjustable straps are the only things securing the vest at the shoulders. Anyone know if this is incorrect use. I'm afraid if I go up to the next size (2xl) it will be too big @ mid.

After Watching This video on the 5.11 vest I bought one. So far I love it, no problems with it. I do agree with Nutn I wish the inner pockets were zipper rather then velcro.

@BullRonin Its a great knife, but they have been discontinued, you would have to look on the secondary market, they still make the street beat, which is a smaller version.

Got my tac vest in the mail today. Got a descent deal on the flat dark earth coloration. For the money, the quality of material and workmanship is absolutely outstanding. Now I need to start setting up the pouches, etc. I wish they would get more of the plate carriers.

your tacforce holster has the pointed part of the clip toward your hand when you grab it but i have found that i can draw my pistol faster when the pointed clip "male version" is pointed away from my hand. just some infooo

@ddifantis Yeah they did, I was lucky enough to get one of the last shipments. Had an email conversation with 5.11 about this, expressed my disappointment they were phasing out OD. They forwarded that to their design department. Everyone else who uses OD should let 5.11 know that there is demand for this colour! 5.11 makes great stuff but those of us up north wearing OD or even CADPAT can't buy 5.11 anymore!

I just ordered one at the Neves by my house. Im a big guy (5'11'' 290lb) and the 2XL was a liiittle too small. now I didn't mess with the side velcrow adjustments but I do feel that the 3XL will be perfect. Hope this little info helps. Sweet review Nutn!

@MrPolloino Hey man... You might be good with getting this vtac vest and getting some shotgun pouches... Shotgun pouchs hold about 12 or so shells... I would say 4-6 pouchs at the most... Those shells get a bit heavy. I hope it helps...

The only problem with the $47.00 vest on the 5.11 website is the fact that the only one for 47.00 is a double XX Large green. all the other ones in regular person sizes are regular price =(

dont forget about going prone. you cant have to much on the front. iv seen people running literally 14 30 rond ar 15 mags and they couldnt move around vary much.

at 23:13 the chest rig looks like a tactical tailor mav im getting a mav but it is only for airsoft i have a condor plate carrier and dont like it it gets in the way it dosent have mesh
