The book is about more than just the accident and Maria's death, but that is sort of the central focus of the book. It brought more than just a few tears to my eyes.
She was running to greet her 17-year-old brother and ask him to play with her and ran in front of the SUV he was driving - she was so small he never saw her and he accidentally ran her over. :(
