Thanks so much for the vid! I'm new to the uke... and alls tring intraments for that matter, could i ideally keep my regular tune and just put a capo on over the first fret? I love this song and want to play it for my gf :-/. any advice?
Thank you very much for this accessible and well-made tutorial. I'd have really liked a little bit more elaboration on how to do a brush stroke and a muted stroke. Do you have any tips on those?
Great video man, really! But I had one question, it's a bit hard to see, what is the difference between the first chord and the last one, i mean the place were you put your fingers?
hey, sorry, but it actually is pronounced naa-nt, i know in beruit's version of the song they kinda make it sound like nan-tess, but i think it's just his heavy accent. And you can even look it up in wikipedia or even an online dictionary.
Sorry, I'm not trying to sound like a know-it-all, I just wanted to inform you cause i used to think it was nan-tess too.
Hey, nice tutorial. I'm sure you already know this, but for other people who don't want to tune their ukes a half step up, just use a CAPO on the 1st fret.
It's a Mahalo concert ukulele. It's not great and flashy or anything, but I still love it. Plus it is my first ukulele and a present so it means a lot to me.
ha, if only you had made this earlier! Would have saved me some time. I had to just watch your performance on loop to figure it out before.... and your strum pattern is a bit more dynamic than the one I came up with.
You are so beautifully awkward. Love the video.

Thanks for that Sam :3
For the first chord, your index finger is on the E string on the 1st fret, and your middle finger will bar the G and C strings on the 2nd fret.
The 2nd chord is almost the same except your middle finger is just on the G string 2nd fret.
Hope that makes sense ;)

which string do you pluck?
NighttSwimmming 3 years ago
Hey, thanks for asking, never thought about that bit when I did the tutorial lol.
I pluck the C string on the first chord and then the E string on the second and third chords so the notes you would get will be D, E and F.
Hope that helps

Ah, very nice tutorial! The way you broke down the strum was just perfect for me to understand it.
Oh, I think it is pronounced more like nan-tess by the way, like loch ness, you know :)

lol you sound like me XD
I think it's just one of those things. Most people tend to pronounce something the way they see it.
A great example of that would be Les Miserables. Aren't many people outside of the French speaking that say it right though.
Icefunk 3 years ago
hahah, yeah that's a good example! :)

Hi there,
If you check my videos Postcards from Italy should be in there somewhere. But it's not a tutorial if that's what you're looking for.
Glad you liked the video
Thanks :3

Thanks man, this helped alot.
It's gonna take me a while to get the stum pattern though...I'm only a beginer.

No problem. Even though I've been playing for a year I still have so much to learn.

Thanks :D
Yeah I wish I had done one sooner as well. Was meant to and got sidetracked and distracted with other bits.
I'm terrible at doing tutorials and explanations generally. You know it took me nearly 40 attempts to get to this video lol.
And the funniest bit was that when I went to play it through at the end I forgot to sing.
