  • To all who claim that Flair is so great: yes he is, but if it wasnt for Harley Race then Ric Flair would not have even had one World Title, let alone 16. When Flair was being considered for a World Title run back when he won the 1st, the decision was put in front of the bigwigs in the NWA, such as Jim Barnett, the Funk Brothers, Jim Crockett and for some strange reason they even as Vince McMahon Sr and they mostly thought Ric was too small for the belt. Harley stood up for him and said he could

  • @beefmong Actually, Vince Sr. voted for Flair to get the title. WWE was an NWA member since 75.

  • Thanks for posting this classic match it brings back memories!

  • Now THIS is wrestling the way it should be

  • holy shit, the camera work on races' knee drop from 5:34 to 5:40.... fuckin awesome!!!! these guys(all the good ones) were true artistic athletes.

  • The good ole days when race had flairs number. I often wonder how Race woulda done against the horsemen. Then I wonder how the horsemen woulda fared if the nwa had hung on 2 all it's territories and they had 2 travel everywhere.

  • funny how flair would always brag about how he could wrestle for 60min and many wrestlers cant cuz they are out of shape and he is resting on a mat or being in a submision most of the time. anybody can wrestle for an hour like that

  • @IASP17 man, you're dumb.... "anybody can wrestle like that for an hour"... how many times have you done it? you think harley was huggin' him during submissions? they do that to catch their breath, to chill, so they can keep going for us... wrestling fans. you're the type of asshole that would waych pro pool on ytube, see a pro run the table, then you would post, "that's so easy". one man in history is in flairs'category, & his name is lou thesz.

  • @jdbankshot I know why they do submissions. Im saying I would rather watch a 20min or 30min match with more action like kurt angle vs HBK then watch a 60min match this slow

  • @IASP17 THIS IS ACTION!!!!! it's pro wrestling at it's finest. end of story.... hbk, u mean the guy that was one half of the midnight rockers with marty janetty in the floundering awa in 1985, 86, 87, when flair & race were already legends??? that hbk? angle, gold medalist in 1996.... 90fuckin6!!!! if that entertains you more than this, you're not into pro wrestling.... &, again, not anyone can do this for an hour, even with in-match breaks. this isn't slow, it's paced. u should know that...

  • @jdbankshot just because hbk was with janetty when flair was a "legend" means he is bad? or a gold medalist kurt in 1996 means he is bad too? thats lame. Im not even going to argue anymore over ric flair and his matches. screw him! Im bored to death with his chops and him screaming wooo! and people like you saying nonsense stuff and trying to prove flair is the greatest.

  • @IASP17 no, micheals & angle are excellent, don't get me wrong. they just made their mark in a time when their peers had proven themselves for two decades. fyi, i think lou thesz is the greatest. the chops increased later in flairs career due to age & as a tribute to the late wahoo mcdaniels. my only point is that hbk & angle at their best aren't in the same category as harley & dozens of others that started or peaked in the 70's.... 95% of wrestling fans 30yrs old or over would agree with me.

  • @IASP17 no need to try to prove anything, it's a fact. flair will never be topped.... in ring performance, on the mic, making losers look good, going 60 mins 22 times per month all over the globe....hbk & angle were never bad & i never suggested that... i stated that they broke through at a time when the old school cats would've destroyed these new stars in a shoot match. that's all. where's dwayne johnson today? i'm really happy for him & he's got legit acting chops, but...this match kills hbk.

  • @jdbankshot I couldn't agree with you more on this. wooooooooooooooo! :)

  • I wish they could post the St. Louis match where Ric Flair lost the belt to Harley Race. That match apparently was Match of the Year in 1983.

  • awesome match

  • This was a great match. Personally I think it was better than the match at Starcade 83.

  • @BeckerMaximus one frikkin' comment!!!!! this match is ka-lassic!!! c'mon people!!!

  • @BeckerMaximus I agree. If Jim Crockett didn't appoint Gene Kiniski as the referee that match would have earned a 5 star rating. Kiniski was just too involved in that match.
