You are right that it does give it a bit of a different feeling and meaning rather then just the word "LOVE" I can see why people can read into this as being more then just a respect of friendship. (not saying Jason is that way, but he is a very affectionate actor. Check the behind the scenes of Peter pan. Jason gives "Peter Pan" Jeremy Sumpter a hug on the final shot of the movie. Really touching.
