@Gracefulpine technicality =/= musicality, you are one hundred percent correct. i would argue shadows fall isn't musically talented because they likely couldn't tell you what they are doing and why it works so well. however, maybe at a lesser level than prog bands and such but still, shadows fall has the ability to communicate with true musicians just by playing. rappers are lyrically talented, sure. but most of them couldn't make a melody to save their asses and rarely make their own beats.

I'm not too into the underground rap (simply because i don't like the sound of rap much, i'm not into beats, I'm more into melodies), so I wouldn't know how many of them play and write their own back tracks. I've always appreciated the lyrical skills of rappers though, it's like poetry with a beat if done right. Mainstream does it so wrong tho.
