@bikestunts123 Hey I'm from England and were thinking about moving down to Kansas. Thing's like this is one of the reasons I think I'd enjoy it there. How often does this sort of thing happen?
@Om3gaG4ming Well, im from Kansas City Kansas, and people will go around saying we get "HAMMERED" and it doesnt actually happen as much as people say it does. If you like being around tornadoes and stuff, you would like it here, but most of the real stuff is down torwards Southeast-Central Kansas or Northeast-Central Oklahoma. But Kansas has its share of Tornadoes/
yeah, and the vast majority of those are EF-0 and EF-1. It really takes a hell of a storm to produce EF-2 and stronger. Also I have noticed, funnel size does not indicate strength. Some half mile wide tornadoes have produced only EF-1 damage, while some "rope" tornadoes have produced EF-5 damage.
exactly. there have been many of these so called "skinny", "rope" and "stovepipe" tornadoes that have caused EF-4 and EF-5 damage. I regard tornadoes the same, regardless of size and or strength. If I see one coming, Im getting the hell outta there!
True..True. But it also depends on geographical location, that determins the amount of damage. Old buildings and other older structures are examples. I don't want to be too close to a tornado, but its exilerating to watch from a safe distance.
Good thing you moved, or you would have missed seeing this one. This tornado spawned from the same storm that I got my first video of a tornado in Lane County Kansas. I missed out on this tornado, because the road was rediculously muddy, so I couldn't keep up with this storm any more. Reed Timmer and his crew were on the same tornado that I was filming. They were on a road that was west of the one that I was on.
The calm way he says "holy fuck, there's a huge tornado there" made me laugh, just because I know I'd be yelling and screaming if I saw that beast coming.
Good, comprehensive view of the tornado over time. Plus, the low clouds at the beginning made it exciting to wait and see what would reveal itself. Suddenly!! Out of the overcast, the large stovepipe reveals itself. Good job
me and a group of friends who were trained in metorology took a trip to manitoba when we heard there were big storm brewing and we saw the dominator and the TIV but we went the opposite way, we were excited because we found the tornado but later found out so did reeds team, so it must have been good hunting grounds
Reed's Manitoba video was shot in 07, before he built the dominator. nice try though, dickwad. also, the the TIV guys aren't hardcore enough to chase outside of the US, because they're pussy-ass film makers, and not REAL chasers.
Whats with the use of the language, and yes it was in 07, doesnt mean he cant be there besides Shaun didnt take the TIV to manitoba the summber of 07 so before you go out trying to prove the world wrong sit and think about it. And also to the comment about shaun not being a real chaser, everyone knows he isnt thats why he was commanded by josh.
its the TIV,it was used in the series storm chasers on the discovery channel, the TIV was used so they could go into the tornado and see inside to try and understand tornados more
Actually the TIV was made for Sean Casey to get his infamous IMAX film shot. He made it out of pocket. He needs Josh to guide him INTO the tornado though, so Josh put instruments on the TIV to help with his research, as part of their agreement.
What an outbreak that was. I'll always remember the 22nd and 23rd 2008 in Kansas. It seemed like you couldn't miss seeing a tornado those 2 days. I saw 3 definet tornadoes on those 2 days of chasing. It was my first 2 days chasing ever. Those storms were so huge and menacing, especially for me since I had just moved from N.C. to OK nine days before all this happened. Kansas and OK have by far been my two best states to chase in so far. Tx & Ne, still waiting, I believe they'll give me one soon.
I just found this video while watching chasers on the Discovery channel chasing the same tornado. Then to see the TIV pass right by these storm chasers!!! How bizarre. Its like being there.
jesus that fucking tornado siren was annoying! the one in tennesse is barely bearable. ( spelling?) In Nashville, we have the air raid type sirens...it's fucking annoying. I fear the siren more than the storm
@ldr1ff ha ha lots o'laughs!! big thumbs ups!!!! those save your and the parents that made your ass's lives. i listen and DO NOT think they are anoying, what if your hanging out, blinds closed? and no sirens? dead.... family gone... tee frikin hee!
At 3:55-5:00 you can see us parked along side the highway. We were in the big red pickup. I in the white shirt taking video. Check out my video of the tornado :)
I chased on this day. We watched Quinter #1 as it approached the interstate, then the 2nd very brief one right after that. Deffinately one of my top 5 days of chasing.
Most Sentry sirens do sound like that, due to their design. For what it's worth, I live fairly close to where those sirens are made, in Canon City, Colorado
I remember there was once a big tornado that hit up there one time, maybe Massachusetts in the 80s, do you remember that ?,,,I also visited my uncles place in Morristown New Jersey long ago, they had a tornado up there that wiped a few homes clean.
omg it was the guys i love to watch on TV! that rock!... there cool! oh how i wold love to do what that do casing twisters big and small what a cool job thay do
