@WewerkoSrbin Hi there, can you check one thing first - your home page file name? You can check this in Page Properties by right-clicking the page in the Site tab, then choosing Page Properties from the popup menu. It's the file name you want to verify; if it isn't called index . html (or a few other standard names - no spaces) it won't automatically display when you visit your address. Also, some servers won't display a new site straight away, it can take a few hours. HTH.

@nicenoughphil Hi Phil, no edits aren't made directly to live sites, WebPlus has its own design file (a .wpp) that is published as HTML, graphics, JavaScript etc and those are uploaded to the web. What WebPlus can do is know specifically which published files have changed since your last upload, so when you make an edit to your site WebPlus only uploads the files it needs to, the changed files. Or all of them, your choice. You can also manage files on the remote server too. Hope that helps, Dale

hello there, i'm useing webplus x4 and halfway through doing my own site, i'm struggerling with the width being 1100 on my site so am i allowed to change as I have a 19" screen ?

@nicenoughphil Hi Phil, yes you can increase the width of your page via its Properties dialogue – it's been made easier in WebPlus X5 too (see serif.c0m/webplus). Bear in mind that while you have a wide screen and wide page, after you publish your site some of your visitors will still be operating 1024x768 displays, and wide pages could be less suited to smartphones or other handheld devices. It's extremely versatile, a website builder that uses drag and drop designing for simplicity, with an added dimension of easy interactive web gadgets so businesses can create effective sites on their own. However, those gadgets don't include the many systems needed to operate a social networking site. For that sort of site, you'd need an enterprise class solution and an experienced designer - or rather a team of developers.

I was trying to make the nav bar like the one in the video, where the background of the nav bar (the two rounded rectangles on the video) combine together to make the gel button effect, but she doesn't really explain how to do it. Im trying to add navigation bars but i cannot see the default styles in the software unable to select, what should I do, the tutorial shows the navigation bars but not my version which I ordered new, jus a couple of days back.

If you don't see them previewed as per the turoial video, you may need to reinstall, or you can reset your WebPlus to 'factory defaults' by holding Control when you launch the program. In either event I think it might be worth you visiting Serif's free user forum or contacting tech support, but hopefully the Control + launch will reset any weird glitches. HTH, Dale @ Serif.

The pictures you put into the picture frame, do they automatically resize to fit the frame you make?

@DewsGames Hi, thanks for your comments. Pictures in this video are in picture frames. Frames will stay the same size while pictures dragged into them are cropped to fit the frame area (not stretched). You can also import pictures without using smart frames, the image will come in at the right size & shape if you click on your page when importing. Resizing is as easy as dragging the corner or side handles. You can also place accurately using the Transform tab at the right of the screen. HTH.

@psycho79x Hi psycho, Serif software is not currently nativley supported on Mac OS X, it does require Windows. As far as I know it's not officially tested by our own QA team, but I have heard of customers running WebPlus and other Serif titles on Windowed Macs with bootcamp. Hope that helps a little.

You can use built-in e-commerce tools and step-by-step wizards for PayPal, Mal's or RomanCart to make it easy, or insert HTML code provided by other carts if you wish. It's secure and straightforward, and there are no limits on number of store pages or number of store items per page. You can even import product databases to build large stores quite quickly. @tonytsing Hi Tony, yes WebPlus easily handles e-commerce using those credit and debit cards, via PayPal, Mal's or RomanCart. PayPal as an example will process card payments even from people without PayPal accounts. Step-by-step wizards help set up stores using the providers mentioned, or you can research and choose a different company to process payments and add their store to your site by insterting HTML that they provide you. @LoniHart Hi Loni. Yes popups are a built-in feature, you can find them in the Insert > Web Object menu... I'd recomend Popup Rollover. When inserting a Popup Rollover, you get to choose the small and large images, then click OK. And Hit Counters you can insert form the Smart Objects – these 'objects' are web widgets that involve Serif running some server-side code behind the scenes, making it easy for you to implement cool features without coding. @kouroshkamali123 Hi, yes, you can update with ease. Using WebPlus to make the changes is recommended (rather than another HTML editor) so the changes are tracked and easy to upload. When you make an edit, the QuickPublish button will upload just the changes with a single click, saving a lot of time over a full site upload.

@beatchy956 I don't think you've missed anything - if it works in the preview it should work online as well... sometimes web hosts can take a while to make changes to uploaded sites go live, might be worth trying again 24hrs after you upload with the new filenames. And also of course make sure you have emptied your browser cache when you want to be sure the latest version is displayed.

Web browsers will always automatically display the page called index.htm (or .html) or home.htm (I think) if they find one, so your intro page should be named as that in the Page Properties dialog. Then the rest of your site can use other page names, e.g. main.html for the first page visited after the intro. HTH, Dale @ Serif.

@kevrevv Hi Kevrevv... yes it can create catalogues (by hand or semi automated with database and/or photo folder import) and there is a built in search function too. It can include streaming media, by inserting your own files or by embedding HTML from other websites. Sites made in WebPlus X4 can be edited in other programs (once you "publish to disk") but there is a source file in WebPlus's own format. It's very feature rich but you can add extra features with custom HTML code when required!

I get all that, and a bit more now thanks to you. But I was wondering how toget it so when you roll the mouse over one of the links to get to a different page extra icons would appear underneath it. Say the link to the "Shop" page hyperliink for example. How do you make it so when you roll the mouse over it that more things will come underneath it that you could click to get ot that specific page. So underneath that there could be, "Special Offers" ect. :)

I got a probleme here.. when i create a new page the page autimatically adopts alle the information from the first site. And when i change something on that one the next one changes too. What do i have to do to prevent this? Can someone help me?

@sticknumber Hi there, it sounds like when you are creating a new page, you need to look for and uncheck the "Copy objects from page:" option. Copied objects as you've described can be as a result of other things, too; editing & using Master Pages (underlying pages with content that is repeated across a site or part of a site), cloning a page, or as I first mentioned copying objects from a page when a new one is created. I unchecked the "copy objects.." button. Now when i create the site the masterpage pops up. Now when i rightclick on my first page and click on "show page" the masterpage closes and my original site pops up. When i then edit it my new site adopts it still. Now, if i edit the master page the others adopt that too. Seriously, am i stupid? How do i fix this? I did exactly what this tutorial shows. Please, i need help! :)
