  • this is about the commercialized christianity that we see on bumper stickers

  • When Jesus was on this earth he sat with every person on the table to eat and drink with them. Jesus in John 3:17 tells us "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." If you're a Born-again Christian and condemn people that is NOT Jesus teaching. I may ask you whenever you talk to non-Christian or person from a religion to listen to what they got to say and pray for them so the Spirit will begin to work in their heart,

  • finally a movie that pisses fanatical people off

  • @DRisLegend200919

I am not angry is all true!

  • I haven't seen this movie in it's entirety, but I have seen enough to judge. It is nothing but a lot of propaganda. Picture this, when the kingdom of Hod is ushered in, whether through the milleninum of eternity, we are going to find that there are no "Christians" in it. What I meant by that is this; "Christians" are a part of "Christiandom". Christiandom covers the whole "Christian dispensation". Scripture says everyone that says to Jesus, Lord, Lord will not enter into the kingdom. Will u?

  • As Christians we are not called to "Go Forth & Convince!"

We were commissioned to "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit."

The Gospel (Good News) is Truth.

No one will get away with standing before the Lord & saying, "I might have believed had your followers been nicer."

  • @jstasur you have to realize there is a huge difference between evangelism and disciplining. Now I'm an apologetic at heart so don't get me wrong I love debating non-believers but the problem is when I stop treating them as myself because on the sermon on the mount Jesus said that is the second most important thing after loving God.

  • djwaynes - this is not scripturally sound what u r saying. Remember prior to resurrection, everything, aside from prophesy Jesus said, was under the old covenant. The only way u can effectively deal w people outside of "self" is to get in the Father's presence. The glory is it's fruit. The Glory gives birth to the anointing. The anointing makes you lose SELF! That is the power of God in manifestation n U! It will win over anyone that God leads u to. And it will be a different U.(I Sam.10:5-7)

  • Comment removed

  • jstasur - U R so right about all that! We are to go forth and win people with our personalities, by our gifts,(Rom.12) and lead them to Christ, who leads them to the Father. U R SOOOO RITE ON. May the father speak to you w a burning desire for the Holy Spirit in His fulness(7 Spirits of God- Rev.3:1.4.5.5:6) He is the Spirit of Life, Grace, Adoption, Truth, Holiness, Supplication and Glory. This is Christ in his fullness after salvation. The Spirit w/out measure. The secret place... in Hashim!

  • i just saw this movie, and it was amazing! and i met Dan Merchant in person! it was GREAT.

  • Conqueror441 - let's not discount his efforts, but it has no true spiritual value. opinions don't count for anything where the Word is concerned. The onlything that matters is "do you know the Lord, and does he knwo you? Here's a better storyline, have him show a man that God spoke to because of his dedication to the WOrd. ANd have that man minister by the anointing to people he talk with outside the church. Otherwise, what is said is meaningless w/out the anointing. That's the Master's way!

  • hcmontessori : its not what jesus says that pisses off most of the "christian haters". It is how christians condemn others, are so hypocritical, blindly follow the church instead of what jesus said, blindly follow the direction of other pertainant christians in politics. George bush says I believe in God, I am against gays and abortion but yet am going to kill thousands in pointless warfare and he is elected (sort of at least) because of the christain right twice! (again, sort of)

  • Thanks for your great contribution to the discussion.

  • The lady at 1:13 needsa history lesson.

The Roman Catholic church was invoved with the crusades. Christians are not Catholics.

  • I resent that, I'm catholic and I accept and recognize Jesus as my personal savior every day. The crusades happened because the muslim EXTREMISTS killed pilgrims going to Jarusalem. The crusaders were there as body guards protecting Christian pilgrims (including protestans and orthodox), Jewish pilgrims, agnostic pilgrims and Muslim pilgrims alike going to Jarusalem for pilgrimages. They were there protecting people.

  • Actually, The Crusades were holy-sanctioned wars by much of Europe in an attempt to "regain control" of the "Holy Land" from Muslims.

  • Christians are also Catholics, google it! I just took a class on religion, really it is true.

  • Catholics are technically Christians but not all Catholics are Christians and not all self-proclaimed "Christians" are Christians. The word "Christian" means "Christ Follower". Biblically, in order to be a Christian you must believe that God came to Earth in the form of Jesus & that He came to pay the ransom for all the bad stuff we've done and will do. Sadly, not all Christians know what they believe. Most importantly, not all non-Christians know what the so-called "Christians" are leaving out.

  • All catholics are christian, but not all christians are catholic.

  • The Bible says that Paul was a murder of Christians before he realized what he was doing was horribly wrong. Just because The Crusades were part of Christian history does not mean that we should endorse the actions and their decisions. We should learn from it because "all people fall short of the glory of God" - including every single saint mentioned in the Bible. We are meant to LEARN from our mistakes, not endorse them.

  • Catholics believe in Christ as the savior of human beings

    Catholics are Christians

  • kbizzle999 - do you know the origin of Catholic religion? It is steeped in idolitry. Can't you see the images of idiols? Praying to Mary, aka SemRamis) the baby(aka Tammuz) It is the original Shakesphere story.Y don't someone make a movie of what Jesus was really all about. The anointing!! His message still is, U DONT HAVE TO SIN. U must B holy! W/out true holiness, U cannot walk w him. If U don't walk w him by faith, then who else is going to take u n2 the holy of holies 2 worship the Father?

  • Christ is the amalgamation of gods of long dead civilizations. You know what I believe in? Being a good person. Now I pull from various religions what that means somewhat (we all do to some degree) but I don't get bogged down in dogma. I don't need to fear some creator. I only fear my own conscious. I fear letting my self down as a decent human being. So why don't you put down your bible and just help the people around you. You'll be doing more for your "soul" than not eating meat on Friday.

  • and not some people pleasing ear ticklers afraid to oofend the world. The preaching of the cross is foolishness to those who perish. This is another example of the emergent love is the answer false gospel. Love is the Answer, but Jesus also stated that he is the only way to heaven, to reject him YOU send yourself to hell. Do not listen to false prophets such as Rob Bell, Benny Hinn, ect. Learn from Jesus, and Paul. If you want a good bible teacher stick with John MacArthur, not this clown.

  • Jesus kingdom is not of this world. Christians are just passing through. The bible is clear the world is going to get more and more wicked until the tribulation. The way I see it Christians are losing favor in this country fast, and it's really all for the best. Chinese christians have been praying for American christians to go through persecution so that true revival will happen, and that time seems to be drawing near. It's time for the church to be the church,

  • So yeah, by resisting proselytization and this neo-Puritan movement to "re"-christianize America and win the "culture war", I'm the divisive one!

As long as christians have this us-against-them mindset of divinely-commanded "conquest" of all who don't believe like them, they will only cause more division. And damn us for daring to resist their "unconditional love".

  • You can dress up christianity with all the feel-good inclusiveness and make it appealing to the present culture all you want...but at its core, by its very nature, it breeds division. If you don't yield your conscience to its absolute control (i.e., believe in god and accept jesus), you're going to hell to burn for eternity. That IS the gospel message. It CREATES division.

But yet, those who refuse to yield their conscience and advocate reason over blind faith are divisive. Blahblahblah.

  • Archangel: U say that "by it's nature it breeds division"... Thats EXACTLY what the Bible says is wrong, its EXACTLY what ppl. who've such hatred for Christians want u to believe & EXACTLY what the movie is trying to warn u about-the sucky people of Religion. Read the new testament, the parts where Jesus speaks.Find out for yourself.Don't "blindly believe" what other people tell u.The whole thing IS about "yeilding to ur conscience" & "advocating reason over blind faith". I urge u to look it up.

  • hcmontessori - the movie has no basis in scripture. Jesus said I have come to bring division, and in Matt.24 said that the ends times will bring division and betrayal. And that if you hold anyone in your heart above him, U R not worthy of him. This automatically causes division of an Unbeleiver who wants to be first with you, and make Christ last with them. I tell you a truth, if anyone does not get a revelation of Christ up to, and after salvation, he cannot be saved. He will betray the Lord.

  • @ddmound Keep in mind Paul said we are not to judge unbelievers but we are to judge those who are in Christ (1 Corinthians 5: 9-11). When speaking to your fellow Christian you have every right and in fact are called to lovingly point them in the direction of repentance (keeping in mind where they are in their walk, you don't want to tell a 1st grader he should be able to do calculus) but when speaking to unbelievers we are to love them and share with them the good news.

  • @ddmound 1 Corthinains 5: 12-13 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13God will judge those outside.

  • While I do know that sin is sin, everyone has sinned and fallen short, and continues to do so...God is the judge, not us believers. People who say we should "separate ourselves from gays" and other ridiculous comments probably sit in church every week beside fornicators, adulterers, liars, thieves (white collar criminals, anyone?), and certainly gossips. What about them? Most of my friends are gay, and I am ex-bi. Doesn't make me any better than them, that God changed me.

  • Sometimes I prefer to call myself a servant of Jesus or a follower of Christ because of that very reason, Kathleen...the bad connotation. Sad, isn't it, when in China and other places people are dying for the right to read the bible, and here in the west, especially the U.S. Christianity has become co-oped by the t-shirt and bumper sticker industry, and certainly by the Right-Wing politicos.

  • canned pasta and shanalooo =]

i agree with all you say..

the first commandment tho is to love your God with all you are.. THEN its to love your neighbor AS YOUR SELF.. not just love them..

i think thats an IMPORTANT thing to pay attention to.. since the bible teaches on a couple different kinds of love and since love has been portrayed in a couple different ways

just remember what the bible says about being gay.. but DONT ever think that you dont do sin so as to be put on the SAME list ya know?

  • god loves gays so much, he has made them all through time. could our treatment by "believers" be the real test for judgement? fear + trigger = scapegoat. words on the wall at the salem witch museum, salem, Mass.

  • ...does anyone know the name of that guy dressed up like a demon looking thing?

  • Am praying for him :o)

  • That last comment was in response to this:

As long as you choose to live in a lifestyle that is against the word of God, Christians

  • Yes, absolutely opening up a door for someone to see Jesus and learn of his love and promise is very important.. Very

But, like Dan says, the number one Commandment is love your neighbor..

Through example, we WILL be the best witness

  • Your willingness to listen to someone's opinion, your respect for their views, and the example of the understanding and unconditional love you SHOW (that Christ has taught us all to portray)...will ultimately be worth so much more to someone than you trying your best to get as much of YOUR information across as possible.

  • You are right...

But also, for one thing, Jesus would never invade.. or impose

And he wouldnt push through doors that arent open..

You should never.. NEVER push your faith on someone who is not open to hear it..

  • But remember, Jesus ALSO said, "Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God". So, it's nice to have love-we must love, but where is the love if we are'nt willing to give the gospel? To tell people that the purpose of Christ was to die for their sins, so they could be saved and go to heaven? We can do everything in the world for people, but if we don't let them know they are lost because of sin, we are still condemning them to hell.

  • i really want to see this movie and read his book

  • Loved the video clip because it is so right on. Jesus said the two greatest commandments are love the Lord with everything within you and LOVE your neighbor as yourself. Loving the book and can't wait for the movie to see the actual interviews.

  • This clip brought me into tears, as a gay man, growing up christian and feeling rejected by own people has brought great pain and traumas, I hope one day to be able to be proud to be called a christian again

  • well, simply repent of your sin and get right with the Lord you say you love, and there is no problem. As long as you choose to live in a lifestyle that is against the word of God, Christians are commanded to separate from you

  • before judging me u should look in the mirror and see who u are. Learn how to love yourself and you will learn how to learn those around you as who they are.

  • Mike, this was a lazy answer. Any answer like this comes from a man who has little concept of sacrifice. You are flippantly telling a person to give up every small detail of their life: friends, hopes, restaurants - everything. You don't even know the man's name, and you're laying the weight of a cross on him between your checking e-mails and playing free cell. I know what Christ said, Mike. It's in light of what He did that I ask you: please, don't mask your insensitivity with "Christian duty".

  • Hmm-What did Christ say? I think it was, " And when he had called the people [unto him] with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." (Mark 8:34)

There-no more lazy answers-this is the word of the Bible. If one chooses to hold to their sin, they are not following Christ, but their own flesh. The bible is clear about homosexuality-it is called reprobate-not a good thing.

  • Amen. People forget that Jesus is loving, but his gospel is not a broad road.

  • Christians are also commanded to love everyone, and not to judge people. It's not our business what he does with his life, it's between him and Jesus. We are just here to treat him like a brother.

  • Wow, I have never heard anything more selfish.. Good Job

  • Can't Agree MORE! I will drive MILES to see this movie. It's not Christ that people don't accept, or believe... it's Christians and the Gospel of hatred that gets spread as opposed to Christ' words of Compassion.

  • I can't wait to see the movie! it looks like it will be a hit!

  • Christianity is turning into a bad word with dubious meaning because we don't care how we sound to those who don't agree with us. Dan reminds us to read the red letters in the Bible, Love God & love your neighbor as yourself. LordSaveUsFromYourFollowers! Read his book. See the movie.
