  • i lisenig scott awry were sorry for my bad english :)

  • you are the best

  • Your tone is great!

  • Oh this was a lot better than I could have expected. I would take it down a notch so that you could build more in the phrases, and don't rush it! Why do guys want to rush this? It's not anger he's describing but more a type of dread and fanatical emotional obsession that he's self-aware of and can't help.

  • nice volume and color but you have some problems with the pocision and air flow

and some times your vibrato causes trowbles when you try to up the volume but is a pretty good voice you need to study more and will we see

  • Very awesome singing! The video was a liitle behind! If thats you who is singing in this video, you should really try a talent show etc. You have a great voice and it is almost like Pavarotti were singing there! Very, very good!

  • i will sing how you scott :(

  • Yes Yes Yes I LOVE YOUR GRAET VOICE

  • Alot of comments of whether baritone or tenor. remember its not just an aria that determines that, not just a high note. Tessitura! Can you sing a full role hanging up in the tenor tessitura. I liked your french piece. You sound liek a natural baritone with good high notes. You tend to open in the passaggio on this. That would indicate to me that its not a natural tenor, but who cares, great voice!

  • gread

  • Wonderful material, really. Beautiful voice! Is it so that you haven't had any vocal lessons?

You surely have world-class material (the size and projection of the voice are traits that are impossible to evalue through the video/audio recording).

The equality of tone, timbre and color throughout the whole extention and registers is even better than that of many professional singers!

Keep it up, you have a VERY GOOD voice! Find yourself good teachers and develop that potential into its full!

  • gread yea wonderful thanks

  • After my first voice lessons I come back to hear you. Apparently I am a tenor too... boat load of cool :) you are a good role model!!

  • @seektheforce Haha...Me a role model? Oh nooo. But I'm very happy for you. Talent is only part of it all, you need to have a good support system (teacher and coaches, family and friends) and the drive to just keep doing it, no matter how many times you hear no. Sing beautifully and healthfully, and never forget that you do it because you love it, and because it's fun! If singing has chosen you, don't let anything get in your way. :) Good Luck!

  • @scottreiburn See? It is this humility that I find worthy to emulate. I hope to see you on stage some day. I'll be listening. Chris.

  • nice one!!!!!!! you rule!!!

  • wow...

  • I like the quality of your voice, though heard breathing noise. I am a vocal student, a tenor. I am sure you will have a bright future! Bravo.

  • EXCELLENT singing! I think this song really suits your voice.

Is there any chance of hearing you sing Spirto Gentil? :)

Personal suggestion: work on acting as well as singing. In all the videos I've seen your expression says "Am I doing this right?" This is intended as a helpful suggestion, NOT a criticism.

Once again, absolutely WONDERFUL performance! :)

  • Bravo, continue así, pero con menos muecas.

  • That's pretty good..especially with no music to support you..

  • you know what for being with no help at all, you are just incredible........your voice is so clear...i love it...keep going this is jus wonderful...................love it. and SOLO

  • good material, try to stand up,dont forget to breath corectly an open up your mouth, let the sound out

  • heel leuk zeg !!!

  • Bless you!

  • a tenor voice is uncovered in "A (la)", as you see here can hear very well ... 're actually under

forgiveness for the translation is "google"

CAntas muy bien y tienes mucho material.

    EXITOS

  • a tenor voice is uncovered in "the", as you see here can hear very well ... 're actually under

forgiveness for the translation is "google"

  • I have heard it from a reliable Kids Cable TV journalist, that you a very model of a modern major general. Do you care to comment on this rumor?

  • Heh heh. Wow. Only a few people (literally) on EARTH would get those references. Amazing. ;)

  • I'm very glad you're still singing, and better than ever.

I subscribed to your videos so keep them coming.

    -the Captain

  • Aye aye Captain. Never mind the why and wherefore. Will do. (Salutes)

    Sir Joseph Porter....KCB.

  • I normally don't comment on videos, but MY GOD, you have the potential to really go places with your voice- I really hope that you're training with a competent tenor technician. Who do you currently study with? Bravo, your top seems incredibly well produced. Best!!

  • Thanks so much for such a nice comment. Seems like most people come on here to criticize, but, I guess we open ourselves up to that, it's all good. This video was posted almost 2 years ago (wow.) since then I've been singing my ASS off. I'm with a really fine teacher here in NYC who's helped me big time. Thanks for saying hi, Roy.

  • sounds tenorish to me--perhaps you're a spinto? So long as you can sing tenor repertoire without hurting yourself, then you're ok :)

  • just watched this again. You got that top note perfectly well. I'm convinced you're a tenor :)

  • Look kid, most great tenors had the same confussion you have about being tenor or baritone. At least you can say that you had the same problem as Caruso when he first started.

  • You are definitely a tenor.

Nice tenor voice too. I think the bariton-ish color is happening because of the retracted tongue. The resonance of a true baritone would lie lower.

    Good luck!

  • What a vibrato! Wow What a colour!

  • Not bad? Heck, that was fantastic! Bravo! Well done! Keep at it - you've definitely got a tenors voice.

I can't believe you've been a baritone - got any samples of that?

  • very good ....can u do Caruso?

  • THAT WAS AMAZZZIIINNNNGG!!!

  • Wow, that was fantastic man! I have to take my hat off to you. Great job and accapella too. Nice resonance on the high notes. Keep up the good work. Good audition aria.

  • Grazie grazie. Heh heh. This tenor stuff is so fun. Finally started singing in this fach for actual human people, and- wow! The "tenor applause" is SO different than when I was singing baritone. Thanks for stopping by.

  • preciosa voz, muy lindo.

    enhorabuena

  • ..You do know that this is an incredible interpretation of this song, right? Flawless. Remarkable considering it was a cappella.

You are extremely talented. And you are absolutely a tenor. There is no question. This is a tenor aria. A baritone could not pull this off.

Beautiful phrasing, and the voice is brilliant. Astounding control for being untrained. This is fantastic work, Scott.

    Bravo.

  • Thanks so much for such a lovely comment, Footlancer. I've been at it for years, but, only in the last year or so have I been taking this "tenor" thing seriously. I've been a baritone forever. Not anymore. ;) Thanks for stopping by.

  • work around with the intake mic... lower the intake cause it is going to make it Clearer on this side...

really good... and want to hear MORE... but want the sound quality of the recording to match your excellent voice

  • I wanna hear you sing something with a high C or higher in it, can you do che gelida manina or salut! demeure chaste et pure?

  • Great Job. Very nice. My only only suggestion is to watch the tongue. Try to keep it flatter in the mouth. Great tone. Good Job.

  • Again, watch retracting your tongue. That is one of the main reasons your tone sounds swallowed. Additionally, this could be happening because of an incorrect breath at the start of tone and an improper closure of the vocal cords before tone.

  • Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. It's appreciated! Most people come across YouTube videos and forget that that particular instant is not necessarily the moment the video was posted. This was from October, 10 months ago. :) Lots of stuff happening since then. Tone sounds swallowed? Everyone's a voice teacher on YouTube! But that's what we get for "putting it out there", right? Thanks again for tuning in.

  • Who the hell is calling Scott Reiburn an amateur?

  • I am going to have to agree with you, Anniericci! ;) heh heh.

  • A few little rough spots but really amazing for an amateur! Wow. Get the karaoke tracks posted by gabrielpadilla and give us a good recording :D

  • Amateur, eh? I've been singing baritone and getting paid for it, but tenor is new, for sure. OK, I guess amateur is ok...for now... ;)

  • Ha ha no offense... :P Beginning professional then ;)

You should be getting paid for being a tenor. You certainly have a remarkable voice though, I listened to your baritone stuff and you do sound like a baritone too... Are you a tenor with excellent lower register or baritone with excellent upper register?! LOL... We need an expert

  • maybe a lyrico-spinto tenor, but definatly a tenor, you cover at exactly the spots a tenor cover on. I am a tenor, trust me...its a better life lol

  • Personally I am practicing this aria right now. I think you breath too much in this aria. But that's minor problems. You really have a huge and beautiful voice. You are definitely a tenor, but maybe a spingto or dramatic tenor, not a lyric tenor. Keep working hard, you may become a second Carlo Bergonzi.

  • Woah! Thanks so much. I've got a looong way to go. But no matter how successful we become, we're always working at it. I think that's part of the fun, no? It's the journey, not so much the destination. I'm having a ball. :) Thanks for your kind words. Good luck to you too!

  • You are damn good. You are definitely a tenor, maybe a spinto or dramatic tenor. You have a huge voice, man

  • Hahah... I personally enjoyed your representation of the orchestra. :P This sounds really great! "Hm. Not bad," is a pretty big understatement... lol

  • I don't believe that your former teachers knew what they were doing with your voice. IMO, you have a beautiful tenor voice. Nice timbre.

  • necesitas un pianista jjaa,

    Fuera de eso, linda voz!

  • Haha - way to go Scott - bravo! Beautifully done. One of my most favourite pieces. You definitely have the 'Lanza look' too. Any chance of 'Che Gelida Manina'? Creo que tu es estupendo !!

  • Grazie! Che Gelida Manina is in the works for sure...But not yet. I don't want to break any glass, or vocal chords. ;) Stay tuned. Thanks for all those nice comments. Wow.

  • you are without a doubt, a lyric- spinto tenor, the same as iam. iam still having lessons and you definitely sound the same as i do. your interpretation of this aria is just brilliant. very clear phrasing and great pitch. i very much like your recondita armonia. the ending when you sing tosca is excellently spot on. i know in rec. arm. you said your head nearly exploded, because of the powerful high notes, that used to be the same for me, but that has long since gone. just brilliant, great voice.

  • Hey, from fellow who went from Baritone to Tenor.....DEFINATLEY TENOR!!!!! Bravo, sir!!!! Thanks for posting such exposed/vulnerable singing!!!

  • Wow! Bravo Tenori.

  • don'nt breath between sospir and cielo!

    nice job, really amazing!

  • Whatz dis "Hmm, not bada"? Me, shaddup an lissin now! Howzbout "Dis is gooda!":)

I hope you always keep this wonder, Scott! Thanks.

  • Who *are* you, angel of Kind Words and Good Humor?! And thanks. ;)

  • *Me*?:) I am gratified to be able to answer this promptly. I am *me*lodia7 on *You*Tube.;)

  • I don't know what I was expecting, but this surprised me a lot. That was beautiful.

  • tenor....tenor....tenor....

  • what is the highest note in this song?

i am also a high baritone, but i just started and i can't sing the higher notes comfortably yet. i mean g and a.

  • HOLY CRAP! that was amazing! good, wait... no... excellent job!

  • Cool! Glad you liked. It's so funny, this YouTube stuff started with me wanting to send some crazy arias to friends and family around the country (and world) and like, a gabazillion people have checked it out. I guess these are my "15 Minutes" eh? ;)

  • A great Tenor!!!! =)

    Wow..Sei propio incredibile..Bravo Bravo!!!

  • Watching you really inspired me as I have an audition with a opera chorus in a few days and believe it or not this is the aria I'm auditioning with. You are a tenor, however watch your tongue it tends to get in the way. Cantinue training you'll do well.

  • i think ur a tenor. u sing through the aria fairly easily. Watch ur tongue retraction. I think that if you get a better body connection and release the root of your tongue u will sing even easier in the tenor fach

  • Man you gotta be shitting us! You are not only a tenor true and true but you are awesome! Your passagio is excellent and don't let anyone tell you different. Holy shit, I can't believe there are dudes out there singing like you just playing around. Crazy!! You had to have studied. Who with?

  • Ha! Wow. Thanks so much, Aaron. Believe me, it's not just foolin' around. I studied as a baritone for years with the late great Beverly Peck Johnson. I'm just in this weird transitional place right now...Still looking for the teacher who might guide me through. :)

  • You may want to consider Michael Paul in New York City, for several reasons. As with all voice teachers, take a test drive first. I think that you could be very very competitive as a tenor.

  • Over the past few days, I've listened to over a dozen different artists singing this aria....definitley one of my favorites......by the masters....& I must truly say, I enjoyed yours as well, despite the lack of background music. Not bad as you said..is an understatement. Congrats.

  • Samuel, I am totally flattered. Thanks so much for taking the time to listen and write. I expect it to be about 1000 times better as I keep working on it. All the best to you!

  • you are a tenor. You should be able to tell by where your resonance is placed , which is high. gotta pick one though...it's really hard to try and train as a tenor and a baritone..unless you'd rather do Music theatre, where it doesn't seem to matter! Con Gratz on you voice, lovely instrument!

  • Te salio muy bien!

    te felicito

  • beautiful voice man.I have a register problem similar to yours.I Can't determine whether i'm high baritone or tenor and i'm still searching:)).But i think you're tenor.

  • wow!!!!!!!! nice job!!! =)!!!

  • Gracias mi amiga Alejandra! I want to hear you sing too! :)

  • Bravo!

  • Really? Thanks, John! Grazie, grazie! Heh heh. Wow. A virtual "Bravo". ;)

  • Congratulatiosn My friend, Very good voice...!!

  • Thank you my friend! I appreciate you stopping by to listen :)

  • Hi Scott, I´am your Amigo Ricardo.

    I think..........................

you are fantastic, and i think you are a Tenor, a lyric Tenor. You sing very good.

    Ricardo

  • Mi Amigo Ricardo! Buenos Dias? Buenos Noches?! Thank you my friend. It's nice to hear from you. I hope your singing is going well. Keep up the great work! :) -Scott
