@TheLS1GTO how bout you actually listen to the video and when you do he says "you even have a turbocharged boost gauge to show you when the turbocharger is inactive" so you sir, can suck my dick
@bobolimasterflex your a fuckin retard. Forced induction (superchargers, magnachargers, prochargers, and turbos) all produce boost so they need a boost gauge. There is no particular guage like a "turbocharged boost guage" they are just boost guages. Damn you are stupid. Learn more about cars before yo utry to make me look like an idiot hahaha
i agree it looks better, but it does come right in the middle of the line of sight when looking in the rear view mirror... and while driving I noticed it bounced quite a bit... maybe an upgrade to a Carbon Fiber spoiler isn't a bad idea
Performance-wise, very cool. But this thing looks like a rental car. BORING! Chevy stylists are good at that. And it weighs over 2900lbs? That's hefty for a subcompact car.
not true...the second year of production for the cobalt, they came out with a Cobalt SS non-supercharged. This was in addition to the Supercharged SS. Sooo since the second year of the cobalt, there has been 2 ss models. 1 model is supercharged 2.0L and the non-S/C 2.4L
07 ss/sc is 2.0... 07 ss is 2.2 the none ss are 2.4. i havnt seen anything on 2008 SS just rumor only 08 is the s1 with a 2.4, but who cares cos the camaro is gonna come out in 09
no, you have it backwards. the 07 SS is the 2.4. the 2.2 is the base model. and only a rumor? it has been released by gm, there are videos, and the car has been at MANY sema shows. the new cobalt set the class record lap time at the 'ring course. it's not a rumor, will be out next year.
so he says it's supercharged...but then he says it has a "turbo boost gauge to tell you when the TURBO is being used"..i find it funny that these are supposed to be "professionals"..and they are 205hp. stock.not 240..this guy needs to go read more books
wow i hope your not talking about 07 cobalt ss/sc cos that has a 2.0 with 205 hp stock the stage 2 sc gives it about 40 more hp. and its a supercharger boost gauge i think he thinks all boost gauges are turbos lol. if you guys arnt talkin about the 07 ss/sc cobalts just know i was too lazy to read all the threads lol
I find it funny how all these people are saying that it will be disconinuted next year, this is partially true, The Cobalt SS supercharged will be discontinued but will be replaced with the Cobalt SS Turbo Charged, and civc si what a joke, driven both cobalt SS supercharged is better in every way IN MY OPINION
I like it, my neighbor has one, he has tuned his and has a good 266 hp, he plans on getting more stuff to do to it, not a bad car, it has flaws but now it has a $17,000 price tag for barely used ones so it ain't bad, when you are a broke college student in need of cheap speed.
why Cobalt SS. in straight line it can't out gun SRT4 and MS3, in corners it's nowhere near as entertaining as Si or Mini, or Gti. in term of quality...junky door slam and trash can plastic interior with sharp edges(sit in it at auto show tells it all). oh, and resale value(haha). would that slightly cheaper MSRP help?
for a 4 banger it rocks, the Ecotec (2.2l) is world famous for being a verry tourquey 4 cyl. But the best part of all is, you can buy a kit directly from GM to get 1,000 horses out of it (w/o N2O)
Not really. Ride in a car that really runs 15.0, you'll have a fuckin BLAST. My car runs 15.0, I ran with a HEMI 300C, beat an Acura RSX and TL Type S, beat a Cobalt SS, beat an SRT-4 till 70 mph etc. A street car that you can run 15.0 in ALL DAY w/o nitrous is a very fun car. Sure 13.0 is faster, but it's not gonna be a very consistant car (i.e. needs good conditions, perfect launch and driving, constant tuning etc.) and won't be a very reliable daily driver.
I heard that "maybe" the SRT-4 is gonna be converted to AWD hence due to the torque problem...since the Evo and SRT-4 have the same engine design. Thats what I heard from my shop =/
We know that it is a competent performer, but it seems that we(gm) quietly decided to discontinue it. The naturally aspirated SS, however, will soldier on, but with a new name. For 2008, the Cobalt SS becomes the Cobalt Sport, and the Cobalt SS Supercharged is being dropped altogether--(General Motors)
Check this video: youtube com/watch?v=urwJVnWHjiI (you have to put the . in between "youtube" and "com" but if you want to read about it or see pictures go to cobaltss DOT net
if by better, you mean slower acceleration, slower top speed, worse braking, and worse handling, then you sir are correct. the interior is nicer on the SI though lol the SI is on par performance-wise with he non-supercharged ss cobalt.
the cobalt sprchgd SS might be a little quicker than the Si, but the SS supercharged doesnt exist anymore as of next year--the Si will go on for years to come
that doesn't make it better. the cobalt is being realeased turbochargedfor the 2008.5 model year. and it's not a little quicker. 1/2 to 3/4 second stock, assuming good drivers is a BIG difference. there is NOTHING performance wise even close to the same level here. the only people that talk about resale value is honda lovers. CAR lovers could give 2 shits about resale when they buy a car. what's next, hp per liter arguments?? lol
learn before you speak. it was not discontinued because it was breaking down. and, it will be released with a turbo and the new lnf engine. i love how people nitpick every little thing here. especially the honda fans. the things that they think are "important" are really not, and don't make a difference. fact of the matter is that the cobalt still outperforms the SI in every single performance category. what do you have to say about that one?
yea. and all the srt guys are disapointed with it. maybe if they figure out the torque management they can actually accelerate. the 19's don't help. and the rotors and brakes are so big that slicks won't fit on the car. bye bye good track times.
Absolutely Wrong. They discontinued it because it didnt meet emission standards for 2008. The turbo charged cobalt comes out mid 2008 and will have 260 hp.
@ixFUhKTxURxGRL lol hope urs still around cause we got a 260Hp turbo cobalt lol and ur srt4 got converted to a large mini van before being discontinued
WTF, this shit pisses me off, this dumbass says it has a turbo charge gauge!!!!lmao!!!what a dumbass, he says it has a supercharger, and then says that the gauge tells you that the turbo is working!rofl!!!he also said it had 200hp!!!it actually has 210hp moron
