After watching the Concert for George again just now surely Harrison's fellow Husband In Law does not fail to see the irony when he plays the solo and the one on Concert for George is obviously so important to EC - look at Dahni at the end..................
Prince did a nice piece of work with this tune, but Clapton defined it here. He is fucked up here(no shit) and exudes this brash and swaggering cockiness that borderlines on obscene, but, blessed are we, he plays that guitar with that same cocky assuredness and just lets it all out as he does here when pushed a little by George. Best rendition out there I think.
What a line-up ! George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Jeff Lynne, Phil Collins, Mark King - WOW - wish I could have been there - and what a great song!
@MrRulze it's a sad story of how John and Paul looked at George only good for basic guitar riffs, and vocal harmonies. In Their mind "He isn't that good at songwriting so we won't put anything on the album of his." If you listen to the Anthology version of All Things Must Pass, John And Paul saying oh yeah, was louder than George's singing. Even in the beginning, George wasn't even trusted with Guitar riffs. Hey, who wouldn't be intimidated by band mates John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Its sad
In response to the comment about EC being drunk - gee, all these guys played music every single day, drunk, high or sober. Hell, they could probably play in their sleep - that's how good they are, or in Harrison's case, were. Clapton looked pretty bad, though, until he had a solo rift or two. Then he got interested in the music.
First of all, as with almost all of the Beatles vast library of tunes, this one, being well over 40 years old is still as vibrant as when it first came out. And on this video, you can see how Eric, who was there for the White Album recordings after India, and George are still good mates. Elton is right, without the Beatles, pop music would have been poop music. Yet, if you haven't already, check out the BEST Beatle replicators, The FAB FAUX...right here on you tube. Killer version of this song.
Wow, I had not heard or seen this version before, it´s excellent! The 2 great masters of guitar together playing a great song! Thank you Elainezerati for posting!

you do know why eric clapton is such a great player dont you? and dont say because he is british. HAHAHAHA it IS because he was taught by a great AMERICAN guitar player that goes by the name of B.B. KING. SO TAKE THAT BRITAIN. HAHAHA Just playing ya'll but that is true.
What difference would that make?Theres the Brits minding there own business while the fat American trash of the world has to voice its opinion about EVERYTHING.So if all Brits were dead you'd still be sitting there eating fast food from a bucket watching the SCOTTISH Television, driving your ENGLISH car out for more buckets of food, calling your fat friend whos too drunk on IRISH alcohol to help your fat ass while you listen to the WELSH singers on your BRITISH made radio...ha..America,a joke
@elmarco1984 I like how you call us Americans jokes when you wasted your time saying free speech over the internet and it wasn't even a reply. it was completely random.
@DoubleMJAGaming i like how you know you got owned.....and still come back with something as pathetic as this, please dont message me again you fat piece of trash, just stick your head in that trough of deep fried shit and carry on livin the miserable life of the average fat american twat
"I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping While my guitar gently weeps I look at the floor and I see it need sweeping Still my guitar gently weeps I don't know why nobody told you how to unfold your love I don't know how someone controlled you they bought and sold you I look at the world and I notice it's turning While my guitar gently weeps With every mistake we must surely be learning Still my guitar gently weeps I don't know how you were
Amusing how many here want to critique this, rather than just sit back and enjoy the genius of it. Listen to the music and soak it in or go away. Those who think it's brilliant just hit replay.
Thank you Elton John for enabling this fantastic performance with George in such excellent voice ... what''s with that microphone? It must have had a loose screw and been moving on its own.
Never seen George trading licks with Clapton- this shows George didn't really need Clapton to cover that solo, but he WANTED him, that's different. Someone else said that George had bad stagefright right before this show and Clapton let him know he'd be right there beside him...you can see their great friendship and love. Now, what's with barely a mention of the great Jeff Lynne and blondie Dave Edmonds?

@josemontenegro777 George asked Clapton to play the guitar solo in the original recording of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" in 1968. The guitar solo in this song is very much Clapton's to play!
@eddogar I doubt seriously that Phil Collins thinks that. In fact, Collins has publicly praised Ringo as a great rock drummer that has long been underated and underappreciated. Their individual styles are different. Ringo's drumming is so well suited the the Beatles' music - his "forte" being the fills on songs. Collins has singled out the Fabs' 'A Day In The Life' as an example of Ringo's stellar drumming. On that I think we can all agree!
