  • How can people possibly like this miserable shite

  • @hotkarlhot how did you get through school buy misspelling four letter words

  • @hardcorenate123456 You misused "buy", it's "by".

  • I haven't heard this song in such a long time, and I still love it today. She's an incredible song writer.

  • I remember back when songs actually had a story............. instead of allllll this mass produced pop junk............................. I Love MCC... wish there was more like her

  • I love this song. Have been listening to it for years and it still makes me stop what I am doing to listen to it. Thank you Mary!

  • Such a deep song. Wow. Whoever wrote this song was a beast. Wow. A classic.

  • @LittlelonghornGBG95 Well then the "beast" as you put it is Mary Chapin Carpenter herself, because she wrote the song. She usually writes her own material and this song is no exception. I agree with you, a great song with lyrics full of depth, unlike most of today's mainstream music (country or otherwise).

  • This Shirt by Mary Chapin Carpenter is a very special song to me. I listened to it everynight when I was away from my wife in a medical school in the early 1990's. Like the previous comment, even after 21 years, it still has a special place in my heart. Well done, Mary. Thank you.

  • Yes a real "To each their own " song. Been listening it for over 20 years now nearly as old as my shirt. Great song full of memories just like my shirt excellant

  • I took my husband denim shirt years ago. I wore it all the time . lol. When it got a few tares in it from being worn so much, it became my dogs shirt. I'd wrapped him up in it every night. After being in our family for sixteen my dog past away. When it came time to bury him, I wrapped him up in that worn shirt, and place a family picture along side him. He was such a part of our family, and we miss him very much.

  • Love this song/story :-)

  • So. Much. Nostalgia.

  • I've listened to this song as long as I can remember. It brings back memories from when things were simple, pure. Brings tears to my eyes every time.

  • My friend and my godfather died this week. This was one of his favourite songs. He introduced me to it 8yrs ago.

  • not really. you heard her did you not<<

  • She is America's most underrated story teller....

  • <3

  • I threw away an old shirt because it smelled of B.O. and bad memories.... wish I could have felt sentimental enough to hold on to it, but not all memories give a piece of cotton the smell of sweetness. Still, I have always loved this song and probably always will, and the hope will never die that one day, a shirt worn by someone worth singing about will come along

  • still my favorite MCC song. She was great in concert a few months ago in Morristown, NJ!

  • This song is a gem of popular music. I love these simple yet magical words. No one can describe everybody´s life so beautifully. This girl is unique!
