I have private insurance, but the doctors are protected against market forces, so even if you are totally dissatisfied with the medical service, you can't get a refund. What other business gets away with bad service? A friend of mine is a nurse in the ICU, and she told me that doctors purposely keep patients on life support when there is no chance of recovery because it is hugely profitable. What about all the unnecessary hysterectomies and c-sections? Gov regulations on doctors needed.

It's not that the bill specifically says you won't be able to purchase private insurance, but it will be an unintended consequence of the bill. When costs spiral out of control and people and employers can no longer afford their current insurance they won't have a choice but to turn to government for healthcare. Look at all of the people who are already on medicare and medicaid. This number will rapidly accelerate. When you are broke or on a fixed income, you'll have no where to turn but gov.

No it is because ins companies have been given a government granted monopoly. Look at all other services where gov doesn't get involved. Why is it that plastic surgery and lasik prices have gone down and improved quality when all other healthcare costs go up. Because insurance and gov. doesn't pay for these services those doctors are forced to compete with one another. Tell you what. How bout you read a couple rothbard and hayek books and get back to me when u understand economics.

She isn't an insurance whore. She actually proposed a bill that would get rid of employer based insurance. That's when insurance companies took control was under nixon when they let the HMO's take control. If healthcare was ran the way it was in the 50's and 60's we wouldn't be having this problem. Guess what back then the gov. stayed out of it and the gov. didn't allow insur. comp. to have the monopoly they do today. Gov. isn't the answer. True competitiion is!
