I choose the caad 10 for my new ride after testing many other brands. This bike is awesome. I got the SRAM rival grouping. My first ride was 42 miles. Second ride was 63 miles. Seriously if you're thinking about buying this bike, test ride and see for yourself. I like alum frames. Could can less that it's not carbon fiber.
Looking at buying the CAAD10 right now, had my sights set on the CAAD10 5 but LBS said the white CAAD10 3's aren't selling well so are $500 off RRP. I like the 105 red but cheap upgrade to Ultegra, screw the color.
Why do road rear derailleurs like the one on this bike still have a barrel adjuster on it and all newer mountain bike ones don't have one. I like the no barrel adjuster on the rear derailleur of my 10 speed x.0 rear derailleur.
@traingp7 This bike has Shimano components. I think SRAM components don't have barrel adjusters, but instead require you to take a screw driver to the actual derailleurs if you need to adjust it.
I still own a six13 pro frame with dura ace 7900 and 2009 cosmic carbon wheels. Wonderful bike, long in the top tube, stiff, lively but not light by weightweenies standards: 7.8kgs but you can hammer nails into all day and it cuts on target all the time. I just need to fit a compact crankset for the big sportives we do here in Spain.
@dahgutone Regarding SAVE, it remains to be seen. Keep in mind though, even with the CAAD9 there has always been some flex engineered into the frame to keep it comfortable.
Yes but CAAD9 was only in the seat stays not in the chainstays. All Cannondales road bikes use the hourglass seatstay. The Synapse has the SAVE in the chainstay along with the Slice. And when you add the SAVE in the chainstay, you will actually loose power transfer.
But thats what happens when you sacrifice performance for comfort. There's always an downside.
But then again it is a aluminum frame so the SAVE may actually reduce the chatter that is well known for aluminum frames.
That bike shows how Cannondale still isn't making the most modern & cutting edge bikes possible. I would much rather own a Look, Pinarello or a Willier Triestina.
@ocf1fan1 they do make cutting edge tech bikes! what do you think Liquigas pro cycling team races on? They use Cannondales highest end pro full carbon bike! The CAAD series is a consumer oriented, race capable/inspired line.
@mikeDJLP I beg to differ on that one. I'm very involved in bike riding and know a lot about bikes. Currently the best bike frame material is made out of high modulus carbon fiber because it's both very light & strong. The Sky sponsored bike racing team uses Pinarello Dogma bikes with Shimano Dura Ace Di2 groupsets, that's a better bike than the bikes that the Liquigas team uses. The 2010 Tour De France starts in only about 9 more days!
@ocf1fan1 well, i guess it's all how you define cutting edge! I apologize for reading the surface of your comment! I'm a Cannondale guy, been racing it for years and loving it, and I thought you were just a hater who really didn't know what they were talking about! I have to agree though, Sky's bikes this year are like "space-age" technology! So wish I could own one at the race specs they use! I'm stoked for the TdF man! It's gonna be a good race this year!
@dahgutone That was true about Campagnolo's groupsets before Shimano released the Dura Ace Di2 groupset, but now that it's available, it's the most advanced groupset there is.
You seem to dream about the groupset. Do you not have it?
Don't get me wrong, it's a great system... But the system is too complicated for your local bike shop. It's pretty useless because today's top shifters already shift REALLY well.
If you are a pro rider I guess it's great to have. Because your sponsors will take care of the money and mechanic, but for the everyday rider. It definitely isn't worth the money.
@dahgutone regarding DI2, probably the biggest complaint that I hear about DI2 is the shifting feel (more like the lack thereof). No the group isn't too complex for your LBS. And yes DI2 is a better group than Ultegra, remember not everything that Shimano makes is for your everyday rider or even every racer. DI2 is for the person who wants the best shifting performance available. And cervelo wasn't sponsored by shimano last year - so why would they buy/use DI2?
for me.. i like aluminium frame than carbon cuz it can be use for a long time.. (average people)

@thezackyv2 Carbon has an infinite life on it, I like aluminum better too, just because I like to feel a little bit of road buzz.

Just bought the caad10 2 yesterday and did 7.1 miles my first day riding from the shop in midtown to my house in Brooklyn... Great bike!

Was 18 lbs when the salesperson weighed it in comparison to the Focus Cayo 4 (Carbon Frame) which weighed in a shade above 20 lbs.

I train hard, and i want for my first road bike this CAAD10. Is it good enough for strong legs? Thanks
shons3 1 year ago
@shons3 Yes though you'll have to swap out the wheel set if you buy a Caad 10 lower than the top end DuraAce model.

@Pigratcroc Not true, the Caad 10 4 Rival comes with barrel adjusters built into the cable housing near the head set.

So much much does the incredible, incredible caad10 with ultegra and aksiums weigh then??

The chain and seat stays look really thin.
Can they really hold up for stiffness?

@BernardGCZ itst not suppose to be stiff, part of the s.a.v.e tech

It has Synapse Active Vibration Elimination? Won't that sacrifice power transfer?
Oh well it has BB30!!!
My Synapse doesn't have BB30 =\
Will it still be made in USA?
And with those advanced aluminum tubing design. Thats a beast.
I've seen pro riders ride the CAAD9 in the Tour de Gila along side with pro riders on Radio Shack and Garmin.
I might be getting this one depending on the pricing. Maybe just the frame/fork and crankset with the braze on front derailleur.

The SuperSix Cannondale uses high mod layups.
AND Liquigas uses Campagnolo.
So BOOM.
Nothing beats Campagnolo.

Also if the Di2 was so great. Why don't all the pro riders who are sponsored by Shimano ride them? Because it isn't all that what it seems to be.
Even Cervelo TestTeam still uses the old 7800 groupsets.
Oh yeah and what took so long for Shimano to throw in some hidden shifter cables?
Sram and Campy has had them for almost a decade.
Don't get me wrong. I'm a Shimano guy too. I'm riding Ultegra 6600.
But there are just things i don't really get from Shimano.

As for the DI2. It is a great system and it may be ahead of it's time.
It's just that I see that the non electrical drivetrain has been around for decades.
And they are constantly making it better and better. You can say they are old technology but it is still present technology.
And when when you can compare the electric vs the non electric.
I still see that the non electric can be just as good if not better if they keep innovating.
