  • Fudge, I didn't know he died recently :( Six strings down matey, welcome to the band....

  • Amazing...

  • Rest In Peace Doyle Bramhall Sr!

  • one other thing stretch, if you think you're hearing guys like him in back rooms of pubs every weekend, have another pint.

  • stretch, if you dont get it, you dont get it. I'll take Clapton's opinion if its ok with you

  • his stage presence is blah!

  • Stretch my man, Doyle is doing something right if he played with many of the best, including Clapton and very tight with SRV, who, I believe he wrote, "Change It" for. He's up there layin' it down. We watch him at Austin City Limits. Lame? Do better, I guess, while we enjoy the show.

  • @MrOhjok I dunno. I just cannot see any evidence of him being in anything like the same class as SRV. I think he's just one of those guys who everyone wants to be (good looking, confident etc.) but it doesn't alter the fact that his playing's really ordinary. You can hear guys like this in back rooms of pubs every weekend in the UK. Its not funky & its not very inspiring. I looked him up precisely coz of his famous associates & I just don't get it.

  • @stretchmorgan his playing isn't ordinary. It's left handed upside down. DBII, Albert King, Bobby Womack, Otis Rush... all not ordinary. Doyle is a musical genius, with an ear... which I fear you do not have. You probably think John Mayer is a good player. It's soulless crap. What do you make of that pretender Joe Bonamassa? Bet you think he's good.

  • @MrOhjok No, his dad, Big D, Doyle Bramhall Sr. wrote with SRV. DB II is absolutely awesome- ever seen him live with the Arc Angels? He's got soul and rocks your socks off!

  • @caweir Yes. I know. I caught my error after I posted. As a big SRV fan, I knew this, was not sure if him or his Dad wrote- Change It, Ya, lots of talent. Hope he can stay off the powder.

  • i dig wendy, lisa and susanna

  • Solo breakdown blows the walls off the joint. You make our tune burn Lil D!

  • Fucking great player! Fuck Joe Bonnamasa and Johnny Lang. They can't play period. Wankers!!!

  • I don't get it with this guy. He obviously thinks he's the cat's pyjamas but to me his playing sounds lame.

  • @stretchmorgan Doyle rocks, i'd love to see you or anyone play and sing with a fraction of the soul he has and he's also humble so fuck off if you don't like it don't watch it.

  • @camthebassist Well in light of what you just said I watched the clip again. Sorry but its very ropey, his voice ain't nothing to write home about & his playing was lame. 2.50 is particularly bad but all through the part where the drums, bass & keys drop out he is unfunky, sloppy & uninspired. I just can't imagine why he's such a big deal apart from his obvious high opinion of himself & confident swagger. I guess if you've got enough brass neck you can look the part & get away with it.

  • @stretchmorgan first of all, i don't see nay videos of yours which give you a right to be so judgemental. second of all, go watch more of his videos say one thing, too many ways to fall green light girl smokestack...i could go on. Doyle fucking rocks and in that way he is a tribute to the amazing SRV as he has taken his teachings and made them his own. Piss off and stop commenting on this video you know FUCK ALL about music and you clearly think alot of yourself

  • @stretchmorgan blues playing is about swagger and telling a story. Eric plays his story with big bends and perfection. Stevie can sound boring after a while, because it's almost too perfect. (Don't down rate me, SRV was a genius)... but admit it. His playing was almost too perfect on his records. Live another matter sure. But Doyle's playing on this live outing is crispy and tasty.

  • @camthebassist amen Cam.

  • good fuzz, bridge pickup= phat tone!!

  • Date of this performance?

  • Killer player killer wife killer guitar ....rock and roll !

  • Great vid. Yep, killer tone/ playing. Gorgeous gal he's got singin with him...woe! Austin city limits?

  • @danbau08 That's his wife.

  • bEAUtiFUL!

  • I love the rockin' tone of a capo'd strat or tele type guitar... something happens—besides the pitch change...

  • @PJBlandford Right on! I'm with you 110% on this. It gets that nasty "jingle" shimmer to it. Gets me goin' every time! Rock on.......

  • @mrtonebone Yes, and check it out, at 2:22 that fatter than thou tone is coming from the bridge! Monster tone from a genius, but mainly from a great guitar player having a good time.

  • ...badass Doyle.....

    =]

  • Thank you!!! Please post more Austin City Limits videos of Doyle :)

  • F**KN' SIC!!
