This contestant, Tracy, also won a ton of money on Wheel Of Fortune. I believe she was on WOF for 5 consecutive nights and then retired as an undefeated champion. Smart lady.
Well just so you know, David Garrison celebrated a Birthday this week, he is now 58 years old, and like Brian Stokes Mitchell, he is doing acting on television and stage, but I will always remember him on It's Your Move, but he was good on Married....with Children and he did a great job giving away $100,000 in cash and he was also on The NEW $25,000 w/Dick Clark going head to head w/another Pyramid Veteran, Susan Ruttan of The Jeffersons & L.A. LAW Fame, Happy Birthday David and God Bless You.
This episode was aired March 29, 1988 and I believe this was the final week of episodes before the desks got repainted to a darker brownish-orange color. IIRC, this lady here won a grand total of $121,600 and a trip to Bahamas am I correct?
They're running the week prior to this on GSN now, week one of this 11th TOC, and "Why You Smile" was a category for another contestant on the Tuesday episode. I think it was even in the same $100 slot. Surprising they would recycle a category so quickly.
WOW, 38 seconds and David was great on this show and even Ilene Graf gave the $100,000 winner a hug, but I will say this:
I liked David on It's Your Move more than I did on Married with Children of course, both shows were from the same producers and from Embassy Television and Coca-Cola Company @ that time.
David did it in 38 seconds while Linda Kelsey did it in 40 seconds, but Barry Jenner & Kelly Packard from California Dreams 27 seconds, but Billy Crystal is STILL the master of Pyramid.
Married with Children began in 1985. It would be great if they brought back the pyramid. It was a dream of mine when I was a teenager watching these shows that someday, I would be on it.
@nextbarker It premiered on April 5, 1987, just 13 months after the FOX Network (Rupert Murdock's newest creation) made its debut and took over the Metromedia O&O/affiliated independent stations in the country, which included WNYW New York, WTTG Washington, DC, WFLD Chicago, and KTTV Los Angeles.
grate job Koopakid17! I thought of "worn-out batteries" but your clue narrows it down more.
Still, I do not think most clue-givers would come up with it. For "Things used by the pioneers" the vast majority would probably think of "a covered wagon" and many would think of "their covered wagons". Most receivers would get the answer from especially the second clue.
I agree that "things you replace" is far from the hardest category ever. However, "things used by the pioneers" is much easier.
Man, I miss the days when GSN used to have no problem airing the entire run of $100K Pyramid, without ever having to lease one season at a time from Sony.
And just think: If GSN didn't have that issue with Sony, and didn't waste 6.5 million dollars on The Amazing Race, they would have picked up the rights to all episodes of the 80's $25K Pyramid, instead of just 1982-1983, and the last several months of 1987-1988.
Did you hear his slight reluctance whilst giving the last clue? I question if for a moment he was fearful of being disqualified.

MWC was Fox's very first primetime show in 1987. Ran 11 years.

The judges generally did not mind if you used just your face for a clue. It's when you used your body that was a problem.
NYBredBamaFed 2 years ago
Actually, it was more your hands, that's why the giver's seat in the winners circle had straps.

that guy is good
lemon2323 3 years ago
no he couldn't because he's still using his hands, someone on $25,000 Pyramid got zapped for that

Actually, I did see people who sat on their hands instead of using the straps.

things you replace seems a little easy for a 100K category.
burr1aj 4 years ago
"Things you replace" was easy? How about "things used by the pioneers" in the 4th $100,000 win.
"Things you replace" stumped many teams. I can't think of a definitive clue that zeros in on it.

How about "Your smoke detector batteries"?
